Toggleable beam in arcade mode for shaft?

Recommended Posts

I'm a shaft user, and was hoping for a possible change to the shaft. When in sniper mode, you get the beam and all, or the dot in the center of the crosshairs. It makes the beam useless pretty much, so why not have a toggleable beam when in arcade mode?

I try and land a no scope shot once in awhile, knowing it won't kill the enemy, but just to see what I can do. But there are also those times you want to shoot the enemy before they go and hide, but don't have time to go into scope mode. The beam would help with no scoping enemies.

Also, if the tank isn't at the same level as you, say a little higher up or lower, the beam will lock onto any enemy tank within its line of sight, straight ahead. Now it will only do so with tanks within the shot's angle. Say shots can be angled as high as 35 degrees upward. then the maximum height the laser can lock onto is 35 degrees and vice versa for downwards.

Why toggleable? Well, who would want to run around, pointing a constant beam everywhere? Maybe a quick double tap of the space bar could turn it on and off? I know how adding buttons are highly frowned upon.

At first I thought this was another one of those "remove shaft's laser!!!11!1!" ideas, but it's actually quite interesting. It's unlikely that developers will add a separate key to toggle the laser (as they are strongly against adding any extra keys for turret control), although I think it has a lot of potential to become an alteration.

I was one of those players, but the beam is for the enemy players mainly. It would suck to have your guys being shot at without even knowing where the shots are coming from. I know this has little chance of being implemented, but would make it fair by giving a useful purpose for the user

I've done decently without use of the laser and no problem with the vertical shots, even if the arc is somewhat limited.

This idea does make a lot of sense, but I am against the idea of a laser on shaft at all, snipers are meant to be concealed! You will never see a sniper with a laser in real life, ever. The update that added the laser ruined the game for me, shaft was my main weapon, but I can't use it anymore because of the update, thats why I had to create a new account :( Please tanki, stop creating bad updates, I know that the laser update helped players that didn't use shaft, but I only see 1/200 players using shaft now! That is not balanced.

If you are good with shaft like me, the laser won't be a problem. I mean last night I pulled off a flawless match (I didn't die) and had earned 39 kills...if only I had a second more I could have gotten 40. My best was a flawless 63 kills without dying

So essentially it's a way to see whether or not you're gonna hit a target. This has been implemented for all turrets in the form of target outlines, so I'm shamelessly marking this ancient idea completed and you can't stop me!
