Visual damage on tanks

Recommended Posts

I know...hence the 2-D holes and floating maps and such.

What would be really cool is if there was a paint that made your tank look exactly like the dead one...you know, the burnt-out carcass.

Now THAT would be a troll paint. :D

ahh, don't remind me of the endless times I aimed for the wrong enemy, as I could not tell which of the dark painted tanks on the other side of the map was still active and which one exploded because of my teammate shooting him :D

It would be cool if impact damage could be seen on tanks when they are hit by enemies. Like hit marks, holes, explosion marks etc. They would disappear when the tank respawns after death.

Other effects? Wouldn't make the game harder to run?

I don't think developers would want to add it as it would give away the enemy's health level, which is something they don't want to do for some reason (otherwise they would have made enemy health bars visible from the beginning).

The reason is to add an element of uncertainty and surprize, and lets your enemies keep their sensitive information secret. Knowing how damaged every enemy is, will let you know who you should attack first and make it impossible for damaged players to go out for an attack with a team mate without being the first to get shot and die. I can't even count the amount of times I was running through the enemy base with 1% health left, killing a bunch of enemies and coming out alive with their flag just because they didn't know I was damaged and preferred to shoot other players from my team that looked like a bigger threat for the flag. I'm sure many players wouldn't want this strategy to become impossible.

I'm guessing the developers don't have the ability to do that in flash, as they said once before in a V-LOG. There isn't A LOT they can do.

This in Tanki X would be a great implement.

In addition to the number damage indicators, I have a brilliant idea that will solve the problem on whether enemy tanks have damage or not. In order to see how much damage an enemy has taken according to how much HP is left for the enemy tanks, my suggestion is to have physical damage indicators displayed as smoke. Therefore, smoking tanks.

For example, in Grand Theft auto series, vehicles have damage indicators displayed as smoke. Image of a car in GTA series below:

images.jpg

The level of smoke damage must be displayed in smoke color on the front of enemy tanks in Tanki Online.

White smoke - 20% to 30% damage:

When an enemy tank receives 20% to 30% of damage, the front of the hull displays the damage as white smoke.

Grey smoke - 31% to 60% damage:

When an enemy has between 31% to 60% of damage, the front of the hull displays the damage as grey smoke.

Black smoke - 61% to 99% damage:

When an enemy tank receives a massive amount of damage, the front of the hull displays the damage as thick black smoke. The black smoke is when the enemy is near death, therefore, before exploding.

At 100% of damage the tank explodes.

This suggestion is for all battles modes, DM, TDM, CTF and CP modes.

The reason why I want to add smoke damage indicators as a physical display of damage is because it will help players know how much damage and remaining health an enemy has before it gets killed. This helps by showing the level of damage, so that players know how many more shots to fire before killing the enemy tanks in Tanki Online.

Hi,

My idea was: that you can see the damage of the enemy tank, like you can see their hp bar.

I know this is a short idea, but if this get denied. Can you please tell me why?
Why it's not a good idea to see the enemy's hp bar?

Not sure if you mean actual visual damage (burns, holes, dents, etc.) or just the HP bar. If you mean the HP-bar, then it seems like this won't ever happen, because developers don't want you to have a disadvantage based on your health. Also, it would make kill stealing way too easy, making the game frustrating for damage-per-second turrets.

As the title suggests maybe tank I devas could make the damaged tanks a little more damaged-looking? Like a mammoth with 0.1 health would look healthy and fat a ever? And a wasp with no health still looks great. What do you think?

Nice idea, would be nice, but I am sorry, i will not support this idea.

For me, it's great when i got 1-2 HP, enter enemy base and everyone runs away bcs i got all drugs on (they prob. think i got all hp), take flag, and successfully use repair kit.

Idea -> 10/10

Gaming ->1/10

many negative points

  • The enemy will get aware that you are damaged and its easy to finish you off .
  • After some experience people will easily understand how much dents means how much health left
  • will ruin DM mode people will only target the weakest (with more dents)
  • Low FPS problems will increase
  • The damaged tanks will look UGLY -_-

Due to the reasons above i think its a bad idea

+1000 to all of that.

Maybe devs could work on visual damage only for walls, bridges, containers... A way to destroy some walls (not all of them). And also, make the damages permanent for the duration of the battle. Because right now, you shoot a wall with Thunder, and the impact is gone after a few seconds...

But I guess this can only be made on html5.

Hey  there,

As your tank gets hit and damaged that the paintwork get a but filthier and apparently damaged as you go along.  Temporary on a per battle basis.  Maybe a full isi  heal, or a repair kit could clean it all up.

Just an idea

Love Aunty

Having visible damage effects on tanks would be something similar to damage in Grand Theft Auto series, which would be magnificent to spice up Tanki Online. Damage that is visible can add lots of pizzazz to the visibility to Tanki Online, but the problem is that Flash cannot handle so much graphics which would cause Tanki Online to be impossible to play. The game would keep crashing all the time, so this means that Tanki Online would become unplayable.

Visible damage would only become possible when the Tanki Online developers would have finished all the work for converting this game to HTML5. So be patient and wait until the full release of HTML5 and see the improvements to graphics and game performance.

My idea is simple. For every hull and turret, there should be a skin you can purchase called "battle damage". It should also be possible to use other skins with this skin. Basically wiht this skin, you can add battle damage effects to your hull that only change the cosmetics. There should be an ability to customize this, in the sense that damage effects should be crafted for every turret and players should be able to use these and only these effects and place them onto their hull anywhere.

Definitely not gona happen since Devs would rather create new skins than similar existing ones but with few tweaks, nonetheless i dont think any one would be eager on buying them since players buy skins to make their tanks cooler for the most part, why buy something thats tarnished could also be something players could think.

Lol, why would you want a damaged skin? The interest in this would be super low.

Think of it as your own personalized decorations, and players would love a customization feature, that they can add marks in their design. I think that will give interest to such effects.
