[Special] The Game Balance Update

 Share

Recommended Posts

You are totaly right i so wasted me crys at this acount on isida and hornet that were pretty good at my opinion and I could afford them on the tankers day sale. And of course this update pretty much destroys what i have done. Now im playing on new profile more than this one and im trying to stay balanced with crys. They mentioned that they will run a sale after update but they cannot fix that update with 1 sale (That it is probably not gonna be the 50% one). So sad try :(

Right. Even they give us a sale we still need to spend our hard-earned crystals, and even real money. This rebalance is only an excuse to suck us dry.

Everyone get ready for Tanki X stats to come to replace stats in Tanki Online but being 100% serious this is basically Tanki 3.0 at this point. The update makes huge changes like the old stat rework & everyone received that one badly as well. The players were scared but they then realized that the new stats were alright. just try to have faith with the Tanki Online staff and they will not fail.

Although, now that I truly look at this update I am so happy that I choose to main thunder cause it seems to be a hella lot better with those faster reloads. Can it beat smokey in a 1v1 we shall see.

Written very well. Quite frankly I just read hornet, wasp, smoky, and rail changes because I mainly play XP/BP and LF. But very well written, are you an avid journalist in real life? Its a tough career path.

On the other hand, M4 Mammoth is now too weak and can be easily killed. M4 Mammoth does not need to go faster, because it is fast enough and needs to be a camper on the battlefield to defend against heavy attacks.

Please don't tell me that you are camping with Mammoth / Isida...?

Well written post (and analysis). Agree with swede1, this really seems to have more to do with revenue enhancement than rebalancing game play. Especially true of the supply changes. That said, if development doesn't make enough return on their efforts why would they keep the game going?

"this game balance update actually isn't all that bad. "

Disagree,  this update is as bad as micro upgrades or worse.  Why don't they just start deleting random turrets from peoples garages now?

Well. Let me make my discussion and opinion heard to all players.

In my point of view, I believe that this update has some upsides and downsides. The M4 Isida is now dramatically weaker. I need to have a strong M4 Isida on the battlefield. Why did they make this negative change on Isida?

Isida must be super-strong (M4 Isida) for both attacking enemies and fast healing allies.

On the other hand, M4 Mammoth is now too weak and can be easily killed. M4 Mammoth does not need to go faster, because it is fast enough and needs to be a camper on the battlefield to defend against heavy attacks.

Now Isida M4 and Mammoth M4 is now useless.

I agree, totaly!

TO does this seam funny to you? Is this update a joke of some sort?

I hope a lot of noobs read this article and read my post.

So here it is. Don't read the analysis. Just buy shaft or thunder or hammer - the other turrets are now CRAP!

I don't care about the hulls!

Why TO is not changing shaft and thunder dramatically> ? A sniper shot with shaft + arcade shot from shaft 0.40 seconds later will kill any hull even with double armour. Yeah go on and make the most unpopular turret the most powerful. Hate [redacted] shaft! Hate hammer as well! 2 [redacted] shots and your are dead!

You also [redacted] up Dictator! Why should it be a medium hull with its dimensions? I just don't get it?

You know almost anyone starting this [redacted] game makes a plan which turrets and hulls to aim for. Now you [redacted] my plan and probably everyone else as well!

I don't care for the change in turrets and hulls that I do not posses. I want COMPENSATIONS for changing the ones I already have!!!!! I've payed/earned them with blood, sweat and tears and now you will [redacted] them up.

And again 50% sale o_0 ? Why not give away MUs juts for the fun of it? When I was Marshal almost everyone on top of me had m4 hull/turret I bearably had m3 with a few MUs on them.

I WANT a REVENT button on all my MU's and to be able to reuse them on the turret/hull I want!

Thanks!

I will say it again and again it is so bad update for isida. I actually do not undersstand why you ruin all good things about isida, and you keep saying that players call it nerf and keep saying it is weak at M4 and you make it even MORE WEAKER :excl: :excl: :excl: :excl: Aaand you make isida M3 100k MORE EXPENSIVE! Why?!?! What is the isidas power that you think it is not ballanced?! Please if some Moderator can give me good reason, please answer me because it seems i actually dont know something that you all know but not any regular player of TO knows...

first off, this was a great assessment of the upcoming changes to the game. Great job Goldrock!

I feel that these changes will make the game better. it sounds like they will better the game.

A ggod article which  helps to clarify the changes. The one thing that I do feel needs to happen though is a FULL GARAGE RESET. I'm aware this was done a couple of years ago but, bearing in mind the raft of changes that have since occurred (paint/protection seperation, additional turrets, previous rebalances etc) it would seem fair to all players that they are given the opportunity to restructure their garage. Whilst I suspect that it won't happen, I do feel it needs to be put out there. Would be keen to see what others think regarding this.........

Thanks for all the positive feedback, guys!

Text wall of responses beneath the spoiler:

Wow Man, for no other reason than your journalistic and editorial prowess I must give you a huge LIKE

You have a great future as a writer, blogger, journalist or  in any literary field.

As far as the contents, I feel a certain deja vu when reading this article.

Its just another nerf and buff all in the name of game balance when in reality its just a revenue restructure.

Well written post (and analysis). Agree with swede1, this really seems to have more to do with revenue enhancement than rebalancing game play. Especially true of the supply changes. That said, if development doesn't make enough return on their efforts why would they keep the game going?

@swede thanks very much!

As for the motives of the development with this balance update, Cedric and the development have been saying on the V-LOG topic that the main motive is gameplay-oriented. I would personally believe that we're not being lied to as such, but that 'revenue restructure' may be another motive as well (the motives of developing gameplay and generating revenue are hardly mutually exclusive, and are in fact linked).

Although perhaps they're looking to do so from more satisfied players getting stuck in to what they presumably hope will be higher quality gameplay, rather than in a damaging way. We'll have to wait and see!

I can not thank you enough for this. I have been confused since the announcement of the update.

Based on this, here is my thoughts on the update.

It seems an overall faster game-play is being sought. More hulls were made faster than slower, and a lot of reload times (notably railgun and thunder) have been decreased. I am also very pleased to see hornet will no longer drift.

I like most of the turret balances. I have said for over a year now that isida has needed a major nerf, and luckily for me, that will happen. It will no longer dominate completely on maps like island and ping pong (@RIDDLER_8 may not be happy about this though...). Happy to see thunder's reload speed decreased and damage staying around the same, and also glad that twins is relatively unchanged. The major decrease in reload time and decrease in damage for railgun, will have, in my mind, the largest effect on the game. Railgun is the most used turret, and also the most changed- I am excited to play xp/bp with the changes. Last of all, smoky. I initially thought it was a massive nerf (because critical damage was cut in half and reload time increased), but after looking at it, it is not all that bad.

Oh yeah, almost forgot about supplies. I am actually very displeased with this. People will now be able to equip and double armor and armor quicker, and they will last longer together. This can only mean one thing- heavy druggers have been buffed. Something that definitely did NOT need to happen whatsoever.

Supplies... well, I would point out that the buff affects everyone equally, though those who choose to use supplies will obviously be able to take advantage of it more than those who don't. But I question the line of thought that many are going on about in terms of it making things terrible because heavy druggers get even more of an advantage.

The buff is really not that severe. If anything, it simply makes the use of supplies slightly easier, and in fact the active time for supplies has fallen slightly to make sure any advantage gained from this isn't too great. I would also content that the notion of 'heavy druggers' implies that they're some sort of different species, like it's 'us vs. them' - when everyone actually has the ability to use supplies as a game feature.

While it might help regular supply users slightly, this change will also help anyone who chooses to use supplies in retaliation to their dominance. In fact, it'll probably help non-regular supply users more in some cases, since the cooldown times are easier to handle without experience. To me, it seems like a change that makes supplies easier to use as part of gameplay for everyone.

Too often, players of your stance create a false dichotomy, as if the game is divided between those who drug crazily and those who don't - when in practice, the majority of players use supplies moderately to enhance their gameplay experience. True, I don't think the current situation with heavy supply users and the advantages they have is ideal - but in my eyes, this change is reasonably minor and is hardly 'discriminatory' in the way it is being portrayed.

What about product kit?

I was looking to buy Raiden product kit (Viking M3 / Thunder M3) at rank . Would it still be possible?

Values of damage (for turrets) and protection (for hulls) are multiplied by 10

You could drop the value after the unit. e.g. 1000.36 => 1000 HP

That would help reading.

What about kits? if all turrets and hulls m3 can be bought at marshal rank then what will happen to the kits??

I would have addressed the matter of kits, but for the problem that no information or facts on this have been released yet. Sorry about that!

@ Viking: not a bad suggestion in terms of the visible damage counter (I don't think it makes much difference for stats tables), but I'd personally rather not see that visible damage counter implemented in the first place!

So all the crystals we spent on making our turrents stronger and hulls faster will be impacted by this update... Basically we wasted our crystals with micro upgrades... Sad... Don't know why micro-upgrades get introduced and then a few months down the line they're nullified by another update... Waste of crystals!

While gameplay might improve, garages should be wiped with a refund.

@jazzy: How do you know MUs have been 'nullified'? Unless you're a magician, we don't have data on the actual changes to stats of MUs themselves yet, and so such claims are empty.

@gentlemen and killzone: Interesting proposition, but I'm not sure it's actually possible. I seem to recall the fact that it isn't anymore being brought up a while ago.

How can we buy then the turrents M3.This will be very hard then.Pls Tell us how to rank up fast and get crystal fast and how to take the GOLD BOX and which look of M1 is more souteble

PLS REPLY????  :P   :P   :P   :D   my rank is small so plz fast  :o   :o   :o   :o

Pls tell me which hull will be better among hunter and viking after this update ?

I am confused cuz most of players say hunter but hunter is slower than viking at same protection.

As mentioned in my article, it seems Viking gains the most out of this update at M3, but Hunter may have advantages based on crystal prices, M0-M2 statistics and M0-M2 unlock ranks which help to keep it a competitive choice. Hope that helps answer your quesiton!

hi

i am having thunder m3,as it is avilable at my rank

so, what will happen when the update is released

Useless, pointless update aimed to satisfy the devs with more money. They are going to take away all my m3s that I worked hard to earn and weaken the m2s I will have left. They made everything weak and useless.Probably going to quit if this update comes out as I expect it.

"this game balance update actually isn't all that bad. "

Disagree,  this update is as bad as micro upgrades or worse.  Why don't they just start deleting random turrets from peoples garages now?

Current M3 weapons will not be removed from Garages, as far as I know. You'll get to keep them all, even though after the update, they'll only normally be available for purchase from Marshal.

@Laser: If you have any response to the numerous points I've made in my article to justify that evaluative comment I made, or any justification for your own comments there, then you're welcome to share them! Would be interested to hear some of the substance behind that opinion of yours.

The main thing is you guys wanna balance this game. Obviously that's a good idea but if you make changes then that's gonna change the taste of TO players.Dear admin this is not only my appeal, we all gamers wanna have our old TO.

.

.

But u guys are not gonna hear our voices as u didn't in the case of protection modules, So if u wanna change the perspective of M3 Hulls and Guns then u must change M0,M1,M2 cause it will balance the space between buying mo-m1 , m1-m2 , m2-m3 . "Guys u gotta think about this!!"

I will say it again and again it is so bad update for isida. Admins and moderators have nothing to do with the update. It's the developers that decide on updates - we just volunteer to work with the community by keeping the forums, chats, social media, Newspaper, Wiki and other projects running smoothly. Sooo we're really just players like you!

Also, both of you make fair points, and I would say that the development is actively listening to and collecting feedback - so do share those points on the V-LOG 108 topic if you haven't already. If those points are shown to be valid areas of improvement, who knows, perhaps they'll act and tweak the update as per what you guys have raised.

Have fun with Hornet Isida  :)

What, only your supplies reload slower?  This update nerfed Gold's supplies guys!!   :P

Pfft, there have to be some jokers posting in reply to this article  <_< Thanks very much beaku (-.-), and scralnax... I have to admit that was a great play on the meaning of that phrase. Nice one

Masterwork, Goldie. You workin' on a PhD dissertation in anything? You ought to.  :D

Aaaand finally, I may as well share a little bit about me in responding to these posts... I'm not quite an avid journalist in any proper capacity, but a 17-year-old guy finishing off high school. I am, however, currently applying to an essay-based course at university (I've dared to try going for Oxford as my top choice, fingers crossed!) which I'll hopefully be starting with in a year from now :P

This isn't based on my emotions, but rather is an opinion based on the factual ins-and-outs of the update that I've explored and analysed above. To me, this seems to indicate that in many areas, the development has the right idea with the game balance update. There's no denying that there are some parts which definitely have the potential for bad effects, and I'll be as interested as anyone to see how these bits unfold and whether there are further tweaks to try and make improvements on this. However, on the whole, I would have to say that an assessment of the facts and information we've been presented with produces a positive assessment of the game balance update.

^ This is basically the political correct way of saying, " I think we all got screwed over, but I don't want to say something I might regret."

So basically, if you put your crystals into Isida, Rail or Hornet, you are SCREWED (and the fun of Hornet drifting goes away).  Ricochet becomes the new "Hammer" and everything else just becomes more like everything else.

This whole thing smells like a Tanki bait-and-switch.  Get you to invest your time/effort/money into a combination that works - then break it so you have to go look for a different solution, i.e., START OVER!

While I recognize that the concept of "fairness" is foreign to the Tanki staff...

Here's an idea - Let everyone swap turrets/hulls/protections/paints.  Just let them cash in all their hardware at the current prices for the individual pieces, then buy whatever they want for replacement.

So if I have an M3 Hornet (which is now pretty much crap), I can cash it in for 158,300 crystals and use it towards an M3 Mammoth (242,200 crystals)  or to buy an M3 Freeze (171,500).

My useless Hammer M3 (235,800) can be traded in on a new M3 Protection Package (250,000).

After all, if Tanki is going to "reboot" after you've made an investment, shouldn't YOU be able to "reboot" too?  Otherwise, a lot of Tanki players are going to feel like they've been ripped off... and they'll be right.
