[Declined] 2 Person Tank!

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow tankers!

I have been thinking about this idea for quite some time. I finally decided to submit it.

In "real" tanks, there is a crew of several persons in each tank. The spotter, the driver, the loader, communications, etc...

Perhaps one day it might be possible to add a second person to our TO tanks?

It could be arranged in many ways, but a simple example would be a "driver" and a "weapons specialist".

The driver would handle all maneuvering, while the weapons specialist would be responsible for aiming and firing.

This would work best with something like shaft, especially in sniper mode.

Imagine still being able to drive, while in fully charged sniper mode? ;-)

Anyway, just some thoughts.

What do you think?

Battle on!

H

This may seem like a good idea at first, but I guarantee you that trying to play in a tank like that would be just a terrible experience. You can test it for yourself with a friend, by letting them be in charge of the driving/shooting while you control the other part. You'll realise how impossible it will become and that you need extreme levels of communication to be able to play on the same level as normal tanks controlled by one player. Not only will it be nearly impossible to communicate well unless the two players controlling one tank are right next to one another or in a call, but the shooter will find it impossible to aim and fire accurately when the hull is moving underneath them and causing the turret to turn all over the place (the only exception from this is Vulcan, while firing).

Real tanks are very different from this game and they are much slower and more complicated to control, which is why they need multiple people to operate them. They have more time to coordinate their actions and are able to communicate efficiently all the time. In Tanki Online every millisecond counts and you need to be able to control your both hands at the same time with zero delay.

I suppose it could be a fun experimental game mode where everyone if using 2-person tanks, but it requires way too much effort from developers and would end up being a waste of time as I highly doubt that many players would want to play it regularly.
