Either it's soaring through the air, or showing off your newly acquired skills, One Man Parkour is something that never gets old. Daredevils have already tried hitchhiking this beast and few of them ever succeeded. Think you are up for the job?

Questions from the Readers!

What is One Man Parkour?
Parkour is the art of hurdling obstacles. In Tanki Online, the term 'parkour' simply refers to overcoming different props, such as pipes, ramps, and even buildings! One Man Parkour, or OMP for short, means performing parkour alone - without any help from others, including tank-built ramps, barriers, edges, and mines. It is a rather skillful display of one's perfection, and not all can master its techniques.

One Man Parkour can be easy, medium or extremely hard. Easy includes the simplest of tricks, such as flipping, doing a barrel roll, standing etc. Medium switches on to new level - conquering pipes, small buildings and props. Expert, or extremely hard OMP techniques can include tackling the most challenging of props with exquisite techniques and ways one can take weeks to learn. Overall, it is a great past-time hobby - one you should do after completing your everyday Tanki'ng.

But, are there are any restrictions to it?
No, not that I know of. One Man Parkour is simply overcoming obstacles. However, taking even the simplest of help from anyone else will result it in being normal parkour.

What about combos? Are there any special combos specifically for OMP?
Yes. There are some combos that define OMP. One of these includes Wasp-Thunder. This is probably one of the most used combos for OMP. Wasp gives you the appropriate speed, while Thunder gives the proper impact force. To name a few:

1. Thunder-Wasp

2. Thunder-Hornet

3. Railgun-Wasp

4. Railgun-Hornet

5. Thunder-Viking

6. Hammer-Wasp

7. Hammer-Hornet

8. Vulcan-Wasp

9. Vulcan-Hornet

10. Ricochet-Wasp

Well then, show us!

Right on!

Learning the Basics:

Timing
The first thing you need to learn and acquire perfection in is timing. This is probably one of the most important steps in learning OMP. Equip one of the aforementioned combos and start practicing. Maps like Kungur, Sandbox, Courage, Barda and Deathtrack are great for practicing. Choose any ramp from the given maps, then equip a Speed Boost and practice doing a barrel roll from the edge of that ramp.

If you fail, don't worry. They say practice makes perfect and perfect is what you need to become!

Jumping and Shooting
Next, start doing jumps. By jumps, I mean jumping from props, bridges, buildings, any level that is considerably higher than the level below it. The best map for this is Madness. Practice jumping on the towers from the highest point possible with recoil. Practice again and again and in the end, do it without taking advantage of recoil. This will be hard, but is a much needed step for mastering OMP.

Flipping, Barrel Rolls, Front and Back Rolls
After you have conquered timing and jumping, take it up a notch. Do flips, barrel rolls, front rolls, any other kind of rolls possible. Try to land on your tracks, since landing with perfection is what makes you a professional OMP artist.

Controlling Speed, Critical Angle and Recoil
One thing you are going to face the most while learning OMP is... faceplants. To avoid that, control the amount of speed you need by equipping/not equipping Speed Boost. One more important factor is the critical angle of your tank. It is the angle at which your tank will hit the ground after jumping; and determines whether you will flip or land successfully. Critical angle must be in your control at all times. If you pass the limit for maximum critical angle, use recoil to land safely on your tracks.

Basic One Man Parkour Tricks:

The 'Edge Stand' - [ES]

This is a rather neat trick. Carefully drive back to the edge of the building you stand on. Just when you think you are about to fall down, brake hard and drive up. Shoot/Don't shoot depending on the height you want.

Uses: Getting on top of other props, tanks; Shooting someone directly below you

Rarity : Rare

Difficulty: Easy

The 'Pit Dodge' - [PD]

If for some reason this GIF fails to show or load, click here!

A useful trick. Just drive towards the ditch and shoot at the very last moment. This will rock your hull just enough for your tank to drive over successfully. It even works with M0 Wasp!

Uses: Escaping; Getting to a certain height through shooters (standing in the pit) by complex parkour

Rarity: Uncommon

Difficulty: Easy

The 'Barrel Roll' - [bR]

Probably one of the most simplest of tricks you need to know while learning OMP. Drive to an edge in full speed, drive over the edge and shoot in the opposite direction you just turned your hull in. Keep moving forward through the jump.

Uses: Escaping; Dodging shots

Rarity: Common

Difficulty: Easy

The 'Edge Jump' - [EJ]

If for some reason this GIF fails to show or load, click here!

Slightly harder trick to master. Useful in parkour battles. Drive towards the edge of the ramp, turn your hull towards the right/left and the turret towards the opposite side. Shoot and keep turning your hull in the direction you first turned it in.

Uses: OMP

Rarity: Common

Difficulty: Medium

The 'Dip Low' - [DL]

DExFrNx.gif

The most useful ground-to-ground trick when it comes to real combat. The GIF above amazingly shows how you can hit someone camping in the tunnel while not actually being in the tunnel itself. The procedure to do this trick is same as Edge Jump.

Uses: OMP; Hitting someone below your level

Rarity: Rare

Difficulty: Medium

The 'Rocking' Technique - [R]

wEEDeMx.gif

A rather common trick, but very, very useful! While standing, shoot and drive back. A millisecond before the shot actually appears, drive up. If you are using another turret, such as Thunder or Smoky: Drive back, shoot and drive forward. You will be lifted up into the air. Practice this at first, then try turning your hull while you do this.

Uses: OMP; Getting onto a prop or onto a tank; Stabilizing yourself while in a position to perform the Sandwich trick

Rarity: Common

Difficulty: Medium

The 'Edge Jump II' - [EJII]

This is practically the same as the Edge Jump, but involves a flip in the process. Drive to the edge, turn your hull to right or to the left and your turret to the opposite side. Shoot and you will make a successful flip.

Uses: OMP; Going from one building to another such that both buildings are separated by at least one prop.

Rarity: Uncommon

Difficulty: Medium

The 'Long Distance Edge Jump' - [LDEJ]

aURgOFw.gif

This is indeed a very useful OMP trick. It can be utilized in both parkour and normal battles. Drive to an edge of any prop such that it can be swiftly drove upon. Turn your hull to the right/left and shoot down. You will be lifted up into the air and will flip in the process, depending on the angle at which you shot at.

Uses: OMP; Getting on to a building; Escaping; Skipping large 'pits'

Rarity: Rare

Difficulty: Hard

The 'Ramp to Ramp' - [RtR]

yeEGXWs.gif

If for some reason this GIF fails to show or load, click here!

The use of this trick is limited but involves a tank driving up one ramp to another ramp such that the second ramp is above the first ramp. Drive up the first ramp, angle your hull toward the second one and keep driving up. Turn your hull when you clear past the fist ramp and shoot. Keep turning your hull and shoot again if necessary. Note: This trick is also possible with non-recoil turrets; such as Firebird, Freeze and Isida.

Uses: OMP; Getting on to a ramp from a ramp below

Rarity: Rare

Difficulty: Hard

The 'Slip Through' - [sT]

YPiKbhJ.gif

If for some reason this GIF fails to show or load, click here!

There you go. An accidental invention. Drive up the ramp, angle your approach towards the hole. When in mid-air, turn your hull in the direction of your angle and shoot. You will get past the slit blissfully. Note: I might've invented this trick accidentally, but upon trying again, it was a miserable fail. It needs lots and lots of practice.

Uses: OMP; Getting past a slit next to a ramp.

Rarity: Very Rare

Difficulty: Extreme

How in the world did you do that last trick?

Ahh, I don't know. Must've been my extensive Generalissimo skills eh?

Got any more special tricks for us though?

I don't know, maybe. I will try to invent a few or include some really amazing ones. Tune in for the next issue. Bye!

Where is he going? *distant echoes*

*crickets chirping*

So, try out these tricks. Got your own tweaks to them? Post here! Keep flying and soaring in the air, conquering everything in your path.

This is Pdox, out.

Nice article!

I love how you wrote how common each trick is in OMP, that's a great idea for me to improve the Parkour Dictionary :D Thank you!

I would change a lot of things in your guide, but oh boy I wish I had your writing skills!

No, it is only possible if you have a higher modification level of Thunder than your hull.
