Self-destruction using Thunder should damage enemies more

Recommended Posts

Hi

Thunder is the only one when surrounded by ennemies and/or blocked by them against a wall, cannot shot without inflicting damage to itself.

Be blocked against a wall or by opponent is unbalanced for thunders.

Suggestion: when a thunder self-destruct it could inflict damage around. This could make ennemy thinking twice before blocking a thunder against a wall.

Thanks

Self-damage is Thunder's disadvantage, so you have to learn to cope with it if you play with Thunder. If this new feature get implemented, it will mean that Thunder will get a nerf in another aspect in order to balance its power.

Also, when you self-destruct using Thunder, you already damage everything around you because you shoot an explosive round. So are you suggesting that Thunder's splash damage should be increased if the shot fired kills the Thunder player as well? Doesn't that mean that, logically, Thunder players should explode with more power whenever they die from any cause - not just self-damage? That could potentially make the gun too strong.

Thunder has explosive rounds in that turret. Probably a LOT like... it can shoot infinite ammount of them so it would be logical if they do extra splash damage around them.

Thunder bullets explode in turret and do what thunder bullet has to do-Deal splash damage.

I personally think thunder shouldn't make you take self damage. Thunder has already been nerfed down enough. Super slow reloading and it isn't exactly the strongest of turrets. In a DM battle thunder wouldn't really be able to kill any tanks unless the map was very big. People take advantage of thunder's self damage. Coming closer to you and attacking like that. Thunder shouldn't take any self damage if you ask me.

NO WAY!!!!

Thunder is already OP enough in large-medium maps.  Close range is the only way you can beat it.  If you don't like the self-damage, get smoky. This is honestly thunder user's excuse for everything (SELF_DAMAGE!!!).  Thunder SHOULD be terrible in close range.  If you don't want to fight close-range, just back away. That's easy enough.

The only way i could see this being affected is by an alteration that also increased the reload time by A LOT.

THis thing is ridiculous.  If you don't like the self-damage, don't play in a Polygon DM.  Simple as that.   Viking and thunder already beats wasp and firebird AT CLOSE RANGE.

Thunder would be boring without self-damage, and if you did big damage when you killed yourself, Thunders would be diving into crowds and SDing all the time. Interesting idea, but I like thunder how it it will be after the balance

I like this idea, kind of. Just wish they would increase thunder's splash damage to 50% or increase it's damage. Splash is never a problem for me, as I use mammoth or viking with my thunder.

Edit: 500th post.

as all the turrets got its pros and cons, thunder's 1 of the cons is self damage, which is to be adjusted by the player itself...

yeah, increase damage in that shot when ur own tank is blown by ur own shot by 25% or 30% would be a good idea :)

This could also apply to any tank when you are up side down and hit the suppr. key , this could make people think twice before finishing an apponent who is up side down.

thanks.

You have played 100 hours and are already M2 (lucky you) with the freezer you can block rotation of turrets, so you never block thunder against a wall. So it is possible beating thunder in plenty of manners (believe me), this is the hull protection that makes a destruction difficult NOT the Turret !!!

Just to note, when a Thunder is in a crowded Gold box capture it cannot shoot without inflecting itself self-damage and other players shoot at it. Unbalanced in a way to compeet for Gold Box capture, isn't it.?

I does not mean at all suppressing self-damage but for instance Ricochet inflicts self-damage only when bouncing shots on obstacles not when hiting team mates. A more reasonable self-damaging for Ricochet.

In addition, the more you upgrade the Thunder, the more dangerous it becomes for yourself too and tricky to use. It can oblige Thunder to become more camper (booo !!! ;) ) than being a side-rider team mate support.

Aunty likes the idea... however I feel it shouldn't be much more than standard splash dmg...  maybe an extra 5% or less.... might be enough to slow down someone thats already damaged... but otherwise not be a massive hinderance.

Lots of love

Aunty

Ridiculous.  In the DM's I play, I'm in first and the guy in second is always, always, ALWAYS a drugging thunder.  They camp, they killsteal, they run, and they hide.  Thunder is a great killstealing turret because of it's large damage and it's splash, which can damage two tanks fighting each other.  If thunder reloaded any faster it would be OP and people are supposed to take advantage of thunder's self-damage.  Twins users take advantage of firebird's short range by keeping distance.

Yes, forced to do this because of self-damage  ;)

No, many thunders would camp without the self-damage. And besides, a thunder has to be able to be easily beaten in close combat.  If thunder does more damage while self-destructing, it could literally kill any short-range turret in touching combat. Plus, when thunder's self-destruct it's already annoying enough because you don't get the kill.  So every time I try to kill a thunder they end up killing themselves, I end up with no score or kills and a huge chunk of health taken away.

Again, this is in favor of avoiding close combat and in favor of camping. Camping is not the best way to progress and have fun in the game.

In DM and TDM killing an opponent when killing yourself is a nul score for thunder, so no interest or advantage. In close touch (moreover when you block a thunder) you get advantage of more damage to Thunder because he/she helps you inflecting damage to their own tank (as if you get a 'Double damage box'). Doesn't sounds as an advantage for Thunders, does it?

And as said above, the more you upgrade Thunder, the more dangerous it becomes to its tanker. I would be curious about what the statistics are on sel-destruction of thunders compared with any other turret (including Ricochet having a similar feature).

In theory your points are valid but in actual practice thunder is a very balanced and effective gun.

Self-damage only. Otherwise it's unfair and out of proportion.

Exactly. Thunder is already super annoying to deal with, especially after the impact buff. It is now a really strong, slow, smoky. And Mafioso is right about it making the gun too powerful. I have a friend who is a thunder user, and when we duel, I can only win by pushing him into a wall and shooting him repeatedly with my hammer.

When a thunder shoots at you when you block it against a wall it inflicts damage to itself. it does help you, does'nt it?. Thunder can very hardly compeet for gold box since when it shoot at close range it destroys itself.
