[Declined] Rework Self-Destruct

I have an idea:

 

We do not lose a kill when we self-destruct.  It's unfair to light hulls, and I don't see the point of it. Also, when we fall off map edges, we wouldn't lose a kill, we just die and respawn,  I think most people would agree with this idea.  What is the point of losing a kill?  However, if you have gotten some damage on the guy and then he self-destructs, you get score as if he was killed by another member of your team.  Like if you agree, and post any criticism and suggestions.  Thank you!

Jumping off the map used to be a very popular way of trolling opponents by preventing them from getting the kill. People would jump off whenever they felt that they are about to be killed and it was an unfair way to give yourself an advantage. Just be more careful when driving around with fast hulls, or use a slower one if you keep losing control.

Exactly, people would abuse this too much. Especially in DMs. Whenever they will be near-to-death, they can just self destruct, without losing a kill or letting anybody kill you.

Another self-destruct thing. I played TankiX and when I s.d. it takes 5 seconds to die. Which is awesome, so you don't have to sit 10 seconds. and like in parkouring, it would be nice. I wondered why To has a 10 second self destruct and TX had a 5 second SD?

Well now let's take it up a few more notches, I'm still seeing ppl self destruct when they are about to die in battles.

 

I think a bigger penalty should do with exp. If you self destruct, you would lose 100 exp. Maybe even 200 exp. It would be a very harsh consequence, but I think it would be fairly matched with losing 1 kill and 5 points from your score

Well it wouldn't have to be for jumping off map then, just for when you are upside-down.

Still your fault. The -1 kill penalty is your punishment for being a careless driver :)

IT makes no sense.  Kills have nothing to do with driving skills.  Seeing as how i haven't received any "claws" yet...

 

And it's not driving, usually it's someone's impact force.

Okay, so when you are say…playing in Rio and you fly off the edge going to the blue flag to cap, you went off it the wrong way and flipped right next to it (personal exp. :P) It’s your own fault for not driving down the ramps, or going slower = driving carelessly. OR say you’re in polygon CP and there is a gold, you have no drugs on and your health is low. It’s YOUR choice to SD not Tanki’s so Tanki isn’t going to let you SD and get keep all your points/kills. They’re going to deduct it. Now your saying it’s not fair if you SD by your OWN choice and lose a kill. Its 1 kill dude, only 10 exp…


 


So this is what Im getting out of it, and it makes sense to me. Maybe I didn’t write it right, but I think Tanki is being fare.

Say you’re in DM, your wrecking everyone. You got a good DL, your low on health and self-destruct and don’t lose anything for it, it’s not fair to the others that almost killed you. So you have to be “punished” for SD.

i get pushed off the map and that's not my fault. Guy who pushed me is guilty.

Maybe gaining 2 deaths and losing 0 kills might work better than this idea?

A 5 second SD would ruin XP/BP in Tanki Online. Players could easily SD quickly so as to get back up to full health and also recover quickly from flipping.

i get pushed off the map and that's not my fault. Guy who pushed me is guilty.

That is just a tactic which follows the "kill or be killed" line. Now I KNOW HE'S NOT KILLING YOU, but this tactical move would come in of huge use in TDMs where the overall score gets affected by SDs. Plus, flipping and pushing off also gives you precious time devoid of enemies.

 

Now let's consider the possibilities, you would get pushed off the map only if - 

 

a.) You were AFK and not doing anything, not even reacting when the opponent started pushing you, where it becomes totally your fault for abandoning the game in the first place.

b.) You were cornered by a lot of tanks and were powerless to escape - oh well, it's just tactics.

c.) You're a bad driver and couldn't wriggle out in time - again, you could drive better.

 

Now, I'm not saying any of you fall into these categories, these are just some scenarios - see that before biting my head off.

 

It all comes down to tactics if you see the big picture, I for one love this part of the game.

wasting 10 seconds , losing 5 score is enough.

I just realized how much thunders would use this-what about when someone self-destructs and you have gotten some damage on them, you get xp and score.

That's the main reason why the penalty was added.

1) you were driving in edge of the map, teammate push you down instanly.

2) you flip on the side with railgun and wait to reload your railgun with flag and noob who cares about him getting the flag push you until you flip or fall out from map.

3)you are isida and while in air teammate accidentally shoots you and flips you.

Need more ways to get flipped while its not your fault?
