Engine sounds?

Recommended Posts

All hulls share the same engine sound, and it's boring. Not saying each tank to have a unique sound, but my idea is something to make it seem a small bit more interesting. Say at the start of a match or whenever you spawn, you'll hear a sound as if your engine were starting up while you're waiting for your tank to fully spawn. That'd be cool instead of going straight into never ending gear shifts...

Another idea for this was with more damage you take, the more terrible your engine will sound. Maybe rattling, sputtering, and a screech every now and again? Just to make things interesting. Nothing too big and shouldn't affect FPS rates at all really. Just something to make the endless shifting more interesting.

We had this suggestion before. It's already a work-in-progress for Tanki X (or maybe even implemented), but I doubt that it will happen anytime soon in TO, if at all.

You do have to agree, though, the endless shifting of gears gets a bit boring xD

Tanki X already has different sounds for every hull and turret. They have a minor difference between them but yea its at an understandable level. Having different sounds for each hull and every gear shift would make this Flash game more laggy which isn't acceptable.

Doesn't bother me too much. Having no engine sound at all would be weird, but having the same sound for all hulls is just something we're used to and don't really care if it stays that way. At least I don't.

^ well I definitely feel that a wasp and a mammoth shouldn't sound the same. Moreover, audio is essential to performing better, it's like and extra sense.

While wearing headphones, it's impossible to make out where the sounds come from as they're equally loud on both ends. The only thing one can possibly figure out is the distance of the enemy and their turret (in case they fire)

As of now, having audio doesn't really affect gameplay to a large extent and is rather cosmetic (you know what I mean).

With different sounds for hulls, we can also figure out what hull is approaching us in case they're sneaking up on you.

Good audio is essential for any good game.

I dont care either, really. I'm fine with the sound, it was just a simple idea to spice it up

If you play on a comsiderably big map with not many players, it makes huge difffrence, especially for weapons which have problems at short range.

I would also prefer to not hear my own engine sound. So, I could be able to learn more by listening. :)

I also Suggest Gun sounds. If your gonna have Engine sounds have gun sounds.

You really need to improve your sounds, especially the engine one. every tank has the same sound and when it bumps somewhere but the player keeps pressing the arrow it still makes noise, and when you jump from somewhere you hear nothing and that's something that must be added to this game.

Most of the ideas that have these kind of suggestions, are mostly replied with the answer: it will cause fps to drop...

I think that's not your fault anyway..

I personally would not care if engine sounds were added Becuase I play with no sound :)

But when I do play with sound, it would be nice to hear the difference between light, medium, and heavy hulls.

How bad the lag will be with a sound effect? I think it will be negligible difference. I am still not sure how much a difference it can make.

I am neutral about this tho, adding sounds will make the game more fun,  it won't help much in the strategic side tho, as the game is already 3rd tank view (you see what I did there?) it won't matter much as we can see enemies anyways, it may make a small increase on the strategic side.

This is not something which is highly required and requies immediate review, there are more things which first needs to be implemented, but yeah, trying it out is not bad tho.
