eSports formats

Recommended Posts

As of today, there are four Cybersport formats in existence (excluding formats which are recent/limited to one community):
XP/BP - http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=333900&p=5804700
Light - http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=333900&p=5804701
Medium - http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=333900&p=5804702
Hard - http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=333900&p=5804703

These 4 formats are and have been a constant for a long time now, specifically since SLTV broke off their contract with Alternativa. Based on that, I don't see why these formats still aren't implemented in the game itself like XP/BP is.
I believe that as a result of implementing these formats in the game, we will be able to see great expansion in the amount of players interested in eSports, more teams opening/developing and less conflicts/disagreements/mistakes. Basically, this update will increase the amount of players in eSports and at the same time decrease the necessity for eSports officials.

Valid

Completed

Unfortunately the other three formats you suggest would not only be a lot more difficult to implement, but would also be complicated for players to use. Unlike the existing formats, where you simply need to have a certain type of equipment, in these ones you also need to somehow decide who's going to be the only Smoky and which hulls and modules people will use. It will be very hard to organise such a battle with random players on a server, while adding this format for clan wars is unnecessary because proper clan players can follow the rules and decide what equipment to use without having to be restricted by format settings.

Why would they be difficult to implement? Of course these formats are more complicated than XP/BP and DR, but have a bit of faith in the TO community. Firstly, many clan players play on the 1st server. Secondly, obviously there are going to be disagreements between players about different combinations, but that's the nature of the game and that is going to be the case in any format, whether it is XP/BP or DR someone is always going to be unhappy with your skill or your playing style. Thirdly, as I said in my original post, no matter how difficult/complicated this update may seem, I am sure that the positive effects will greatly outweigh the negative ones.

What does the TO community have to do with implementing the updates? Unless by the "TO community" you mean developers. Anyway, the reason they will be more complicated is because instead of just checking if the player has a certain combination equipped and letting them through based on that, the system will also have to check what kind of equipment the players in battle already have, so it will have to take into account all the different possible turret+hull+protection combinations of these formats.

You said that the formats "would also be complicated for players to use", that's what I responded to. I understand why you said it's supposedly more difficult to implement, however I am not sure that from a technical point of view it really is difficult, I am just not qualified to comment about that.

The_Spy, You Suggested your opinion and now if you are opposed, u cant argue.

Firstly Think for 1 Moment if LF Was implemented, Use Some Logic ok? The Guy who comes with Smoky isnt a good smoky, he doesnt know his job and he plays REALLY Bad and the team looses just because of that 1 smoky?. Secondly, the Rail Protection will also be hard to implement, Players (Typically Noobs) will even enter the game with Savannah On Bp. And they wont change. LF Cant Work this way

Hard can be implemented with some efforts. Medium Can Not be implemented just like LF Cant be.

the other problem is, lag...

many times it happens that when there is a cool update, there is a lag

i liked this idea but would be hard to implement... ofc we can give the devs sometime :)

Firstly, that is not a good argument. You can claim the same thing about anyone, there are bad players everywhere no matter what format you play in and each of them can negatively affect the gameplay. Smoky isn't that overpowered (in general, it really depends on what map you play on), therefore even if someone plays badly with smoky it doesn't mean you'll lose automatically.

Secondly, I am talking about the new light that is being played in the CC9, therefore that won't be a possibility.

What do you mean by "lag" ?

So right now, we have the popular XP/BP, and the less-used XC and DR. I suggest we add the Esport formats as a PRO battle option as well: Light, Medium, Hard, Exotic, Plasma. (Did I leave any out?). It would help clans train for wars/tournaments and give an "Esports" feel to those who dont have the time for true Esports.

Pointless idea, tbh. It will take ages to develop and barely anyone will actually play it.

Perhaps rather than an actual format, maybe there could be a way to give more awareness to these types of formats. I only learned of them recently through the esports youtube channel

No. What needs to be done first is a complete rework of tanki esports. Once that is done and more players will be interested, things like esports formats can be added.
