Freezing bonus when attacking from behind

After rebalance freeze froze tanks much faster, and then it was removed. People liked the new freeze more because it could actually freeze tanks. People thought this was OP because it made you helpless against a freeze so i was changed back to before rebalance. My idea is that when you surprise a tank you freeze it faster so you can use its special ability without it being OP. It depends on where the turret is facing, not the hull. (some people like to drive backwards with dictator or wasp)

You haven't faced a rebalanced M4 one with full supplies. It's a terror to behold.

Are you aware that the freezing was nerfed again?  The freezing effect on m4 hulls and turrets is so low that it's almost worthless.  Plus, anything with full supplies is a terror to behold-supplies don't make the turret OP.

Freeze has received buffs on freezing speed and damage output. Clearly a nerf :P

A week after the rebalance they put freezing speed back to normal.

Doesn't that make the victim even more helpless when being attacked, and Freeze - more OP?

The point of the idea is to sneak up on tanks, if you get an enemy from behind they SHOULD be helpless because then why would anyone choose freeze over firebird?

I think there is no need to have different freeze power depending on the angle of attack.

 

I think the freeze power for each M-Level should be set up in EXACTLY that amount, that

- a medium hull has only a very low chance to turn its turret (by turning hull+turret) all way back and shot the freeze.

- a light hull has a chance to do so, but can be killed if it's encircled in the right direction (chose the wrong one and you turn into his line of fire..)

 

- The freezing rate should impact fast (frozen to minimum speed comes very fast)

- but the resulting minimum speed should leave some movement for the enemies tank (no freeze to standstill)

 

This would make

>> suprise attacks from behind very efficient

>> suprise attack from the sides can be coutnered with some skill and practise

>> by a usefull minimum speed of the prey, the freeze is forced to circle around, and therefore set himself out to other enemies fire

 

Of course this comes with the need for different freezeing levels for different M Levels. This is a basic requirement to freeze balance anyways.

I agree. If anything, Freeze is UP.

An M2 Freeze could effortlessly sneak up and destroy me -- close range.

 

I could snipe it off -- far range.

 

When you see or use freeze, I think they don't get into effective range enough -- that's the problem.

This has nothing to do with freeze being overpowered, it has to do with your battlefield awareness. (No offense) :D

 

And as you mentioned, as long as you stay out of the range (which is not that good), you're find. Plus, at m3 and m4 the turrets/hulls turn faster.

Excuse me, but when I'm sniping a group of 5 that's barely in sight, I usually expect my teammates to cover me.

 

They usually don't.

 

And it doesn't happen often -- but when it does...

You can't just rely on your team to cover you and get mad when they don't. It's not their job to protect you.  You have to take care of yourself.

 

On another account I have shaft m2 and Hunter m2- so I understand your frustration. But freezes are really not a problem.  They are so easy to kill before they get within range. If they do get within range, they deserve the kill, or at least to get some damage off on you.

Marking this completed since with the new alteration it's now possible to increase the freezing rate at the expense of damage. Besides, Freeze has undergone other balance changes since this idea was posted, so I wouldn't say it's still underpowered.

And it doesn't happen often -- but when it does...

Try to snipe with Thunder or Smoky, they have faster rotation and better auto-aim than Shaft so they are better at close range.

agreed , now even with 42 freeze protection , I get frozen impressively quickly , although I don't receive that much damage , they still render me useless to my team , and helpless to myself ....
