[Declined] Pick up your own mines?

Recommended Posts

Say you place a mine in real life, with care you can pick it up, and stow it away properly. So why not be able to pick up mines only you placed? What do we have to do to pick up a mine? Well, just drive over one and hold the 5 key for three seconds.

This is a pointless feature that only makes controls more complicated. A mine isn't particularly important and placing it in the wrong spot isn't a big deal. By picking up and replacing mines, you'll simply waste time on useless corrections when instead you could have been fighting enemies.

Wrong. Picking up mines could be important. You may need mines in different parts of the map when fighting. Your team will have to deal with the enemies while you set up defences. These defences are still important and not a waste of time. I'm talking from experience,  I was the defender on my own with an occasional isida to come and back me up. I set up defences all around the flag and my D/L was out the roof! Mostly because I didn't die in the whole match xD. But the point is, if you place a mine on the ground by accident or want to move it to another location it could be very useful. While you're placing all the mines the enemy will be focused on destroying the placer (one who sets the mine) and just getting past the mines by blowing them up with heavy hulls. And while the enemy are all focused on one person (you) it is much easier for your team to just walk in and get the flags. Also, this has happened to me before so I know what I'm talking about :p

If you drug a mine that's too bad for you...deal with the consequences. I mean, you choose to drop it, it's not like your computer glitched out and automatically dropped 100 mines for you from your stock.

Maybe this could be an option in PRO battles but not in the normal ones.   I just don't feel it's that necessary given careful planning and battlefield strategy.

Supplies are bad yes. But mines are different. Also, I've heard lots of people complaining about ''accidental gold box drops''. (Means they press 6 by accident) Same thing could happen with mines.

I don't want to sound harsh here, but if your finger slips, it's really your fault. No way around it. Plus, a gold box is much more valuable than a mine.

It is kinda harsh. You don't intend to do it. Your pressing buttons on your keyboard all over the place, typing to your team/enemies shooting enemies, shooting annoying teammates :D, and just picking up all boxes you see to blow all enemy tanks away.

If you read what I said, you'll find that I didn't say a mine was more valuable than a gold box. I was simply giving an example of something that might happen.

It's not worth the development effort to implement this, for the reward. It's not a terrible idea but it's quite unneccesary. I assure you I have accidentally pressed 1 so many times, (been called a drugger noob for it) (which frustrates me because that's MY phrase :D ) but I live with it.  I would rather the devs spend their time on lag,  bug and glitch fixes first.

They can do both :P

You may need mines in different parts of the map when fighting.

Just put down a new one then and leave the "wrong" one where it is. Keep in mind that even if this is implemented, picking up a mine will reset the cooldown so you won't be able to place it, pick it up and instantly place it again.

While the cooldown comes you take instant cover, from all enemies so you don't die, cause once you're dead your mines are too.

So? A mine was placed, so the cooldown must finish. This isn't a problem whatsoever.

Mafi, I'm starting to think you only look to the bad things in ideas...

Not really. In fact, I wouldn't mind this idea to be added, but developers will be against it. If we ask them what they think about this idea, they'll probably say something like "you should be more careful about where you put your mines", while the actual reason is that a) this makes controls more complicated, b} this gives players ability to save supplies (and at this point I assume that devs want us to waste supplies as much as possible so that we buy more).

This, this is why it will not be implemented. (Not my well-reasoned argument :P )

Well they aren't getting a penny out of me! I'm getting the Northerner kit with EARNED crystals :p Not that often a kit is bought through crystals earned :p

*splutter* I can name 2 people including myself who bought a kit that resembles something a buyer could get *bulldozer runs over me*

Good luck on your dreams of northerner

I'll be a refrigerator someday...

You can afford a lot of mines with that!

Mines aren't important enough for this update IMO

I dont have mine protection yet i survive most mines i drive onto...handy with a medium hull and people who try and mine where i spawn...that has yet to work.

Here's a good technique to quickly stop wasting your supplies accidentally.
The next time your finger touches one of the keys without your intention, go grab a hammer (preferably a 3 pound sledgehammer) and smash that finger on a flat surface. This way you and your finger will watch where your going and reduce wasting supplies. :D

and if you end up breaking a finger bone, it's not my fault :D
