Fire Wasp: The Ultimate Burning Guide!

Hey Tankers! Upon entering a FW battle most tankers will just fly at each other and burn both themselves and others. But, have you considered the possible tactics for FW? Most likely not, so in this article I'm going to showcase some and demonstrate their benefits.

WHAT IS FIRE & HORNET/WASP?

(We gotta do the basic stuff yer know)

Fire & Wasp/Hornet, commonly known as F/W is an extremely popular unofficial format. The main reason for the format's popularity is the extremely high battle fund it tends to generate; and thus Gold boxes tend to drop, we all love those don't we?

WHY ISN'T IT OFFICIAL IF IT'S SO POPULAR?

(A heated topic, excuse the pun)

Lots of discussions have been going around the forum about adding FWH as an official game mode, this question was re-sparked (Oh puns!) with the recent introduction of Dictator Rail format, most of the YouTube comments on the vlog were questioning the reasons for the addition of DR over FWH. The reason stated by developers is simple, FWH isn't dynamic or skillful enough, FWH is just, go in, burn, repeat. Personally, I don't want FWH format to be added not for the reason stated by developers; but because all the servers would be like RU1, only with FWH format instead of XP/BP. A nightmare scenario.

YOU SAID SOMETHING ABOUT TACTICS, SAY WHAT?

(Yes, tactics, don't expect 'epic shots' though)

Making use of elevations in FWH will earn you more kills, a perfect example of this is demonstrated in this photo:

Elevated positions... Totally not acted.

As you can see, the wasp on the raised area is doing considerably more damage than the opponent, thus getting more kills per spawn; which is the key to success in FWH battles.

Using phantom is highly useful, typically FWH battles are centered around one area, if the map is a small one phantom driving into other groups of tanks then emerging when they're at the brink of death and destroying all of them. Such a tactic if carried out successfully multiple times will reap great rewards.

Another tactic which is common with Firebird users as a whole but mysteriously forgotten in FWH is circling your opponents, this can be incredibly effective especially if you're against an isolated opponent. Driving head-on and burning is bad, don't do it. It isn't just for isolated opponents either, circling groups can work well too.

Circling FTW, unmingled proness...

This one only counts thanks to the recent removal of penetrative damage from Firebird, you must always try to attack groups of tanks from the front, or preferably from behind, for obvious reasons . To be honest I have no idea why such an update exists. After all, a flamethrower is a flamethrower.

GOLD BOXES? HOW TO GET PLS?

(Golds are extremely tricky, if you catch one, you're a champ, usually)

Due to the fact that FWH battles always disable drugs, gold boxes are extremely awkward, no repair kit, see? Generally the most favourable technique is to wait until everyone rushes in and be the last one as everyone usually gets burned, trouble is, this is pretty much the only way to catch a gold and nearly everyone has the same idea, unless you have a ramp to jump into the gold, just trust your instinct and time it right.

ORGANISING YOUR OWN FWH BATTLES.

(Burn baby, Burn!)

FWH battles are primarily played amongst friends and clubs, the main reason is that nobody wants a 'ruiner' suddenly changing equipment and stealing the fund. If you want to try out FWH I'd suggest you ask your friends to join in a private battle, failing that, try posting in chat asking if anyone fancies an FWH game. When making the battle you want to make sure it looks something like this:

Nothing is set in stone... Guess which map this screenshot was taken on! No prizes.

All that's left is to try out all the stuff you've read here!

THE FIREBIRD ALTERATION

(Burning alterations)

Thanks to the terrible price, I haven't been able to try out the Firebird alteration, considering its parameters I can take a good presumption that it will be dramatic at preventing kill stealing. Kill stealing is terribly annoying in FWH, to spend your tank to destroy someone only to have the kill stolen from you is nothing short of a catastrophe. Though with the alterations 300% boost in afterburn that should be eliminated. Just hope you're the only one using it. Feel free to say your thoughts on the alteration in FWH battles. I'm probably totally wrong here so don't quote me.

SOME PUNS

(We like a punny joke!)

A good looking Freeze passes a good looking Firebird and says, "you're lookin hot", the Firebird replies, "thanks, you're looking pretty cool too".

Why can't Isidas heal a Wasp under a thousand Firebirds? Cos they don't work like they used to before.

Firebird users feel a burning sensation to destroy.

That is from me, a special thanks goes to @Darren4Turbo for helping with a couple of facts, and @tankerkuldeep along with @newrohan and  for posing in the pictures!

That is all!
See YOU in battle!

Unfortunately F/W battles are uneasy to win since most takes place on flat ground like Farm, Arena, Island...etc.

That's where the fun is :D Nowhere to hide > More kills > More deaths > More fund > Successful FW
