Those moments you feel like such a troll?

So, with only 10% protection, railgun is rather weak against my Viking M1. Whenever I see somebody with hornet and rail M1, it's easy pickings, no chance of death as long as they arent drugging. Well, I went up to one yesterday and he threw on double armor and fired, hitting me, but i already had two shots on him. during this time we were moving erotically while I was putting my target practice to use, following him with my turret, hitting him twice more before he shot again. He hit me of course and I kept firing. Another three shots, making 7 total. I took a third hit and now had little health, but i fired one last time and killed him.

From that point on, I realized up close, m1 hornet and rail is useless against me. Even m2's! Well....as long as those guys don't possess double armor I'm fine.

I used to run from thunder kit users but now I'm like:

"You're going to die!"

Those purple beams used to scare me...now it's like:

"Oh, I see you have double damage! Let's see how far that gets ya!"

Even though I'm left with a sliver of health, it's nice to see them think they can move on, only to turn back in surprise I'm still shooting their rears.

Another bit of this that's hilarious, is when an M0 shoots me and I have double armor. I'll compare how much health I lost in relation to the rest of my health to calculate how many more shots I can take. Usually six. So, no matter what hull they have, I'll pull right up alongside them and shoot them up.

Wasps tho...I never see M0 Wasps anymore....those little guys can just hit the deck and run and get me later when I'm not expecting it xD

Yeah. Rail hornet m1 is easy pickings if they don't drug. There's a big IF... Face a drugger rail and your chances of survival are nil.

So use a module that has rail protection.  :)

Oh god....

Huehuehue, I could have an Atlas AND a wasp M2 AND possibly another bunch of M1s and M2s by WO3 and WO4 on my alt :p

remind me to never let my Alt BNICE1 face you......

never let my Multness either

Btw, I have 15% Rail protection as well as Isida and Hammer prots (Grizzly TB M1 from Keeper) on alt, but you look skilled :d wont want to face you just yet, altho my M0 BP could beat you to death :p Wasp M0 isn't bad at my rank, especially with MUs and skill tho :p

Ya good point but then it also depends what turret ur using. I'm bored so imma make a list of anti rail weapons and easy pickings for rails

Anti - Railgun:smoky, thunder, rico, twins, hammer, vulcan, freeze

Railgun Prey:  shaft, firebird, isida

After doing that, I see what u mean!!  :o  :o

It sure is a good thing that 93% of the meta is shaft, firebird, and isida!

Good point but don't forget that some of the anti - railguns are useless at specific ranges

Shaft provides many opportunities for "troll" moments.

  • Spotting an attacker from across the map, predicting when he/she is going to pop into my vision, charging a shot, and sniping them as soon as they appear. To the target, they just got sniped instantly out of nowhere. Bonus points if they come in from a different direction and I repeat the process.
  • Spotting and sniping a well-camouflaged and well-entrenched enemy Shaft. When concealed, most players are more concerned about getting the drop on others than others getting the drop on them.
  • Sneaking up behind an enemy at medium (or even close!) range to charge up a shot and snipe them. Bonus points if they were actively trying to destroy me a few seconds ago and just forgot.
  • Using a scope mode shot to knock a Railgun or Shaft's aim completely off course by shooting them in the exact corner of their tank.
  • OHKOing drugging enemies using light hulls. In battles that aren't full-blown drug wars, many druggers become complacent and expect to cruise to victory- repeatedly sniping them drops their D/L and ego fast.

These moments are what make using Shaft fun for me. Besides serving me well in terms of performance, its unique capabilities and use mean that things are almost always fun and interesting. With Shaft, you can't just charge straight forwards and hold down the spacebar to fight well- you have to be careful with positioning so you don't leave yourself vulnerable, have good aim (in 2 dimensions instead of 1), good eyesight (spot danger and camouflaged targets), and be able to think fast. Sure, I get curb-stomped at times and have issues performing well in certain battles, but when things go right and you're landing shots left and right, it feels good.
