Combat Tactic : Leave and Rejoin

 Share

Recommended Posts

Okay everyone - this one I just don't understand.

In a nutshell, in the heat of battle, I'll attack another tank. Instead of evading or fighting back, the player will quit the map only to immediately rejoin.

Why would anyone do this? I really want to know.

I used to see this a lot with a tanker called Sawmeat - he would leave and rejoin the same battle almost every minute. I'm not proud of this, but I would call the guy out in chat for what I thought to be utter lunacy.

I saw someone else - a Legend rank do this today. This guy got really unlucky - the battle ended RIGHT after he rejoined - BEFORE the server remembered his place in the battle. As a result, he got nothing from the battle fund - 0, zilch, nada.

But seeing this again causes me to ask those with experience - is leaving a battle and rejoining it a viable game tactic? Why or why not?

I'm with you on your confusing. Every so often, a player will join and leave repeatedly as fast as possible. I know this makes some lag in the game, and could just be a trolling method.

As for people leaving and rejoining to play, I think they try to leave right before dying, then join back, in order to make their d/l better. Even though it does not work, they may just not know better.

Maybe they are obsessed with keeping a high D/L. Maybe they are determined to never give anyone a kill. I really don't know. Seems like way too much effort for something so insignificant.

I hadn't considered that it might be a mult. But I'm glad to hear that there's no secret advantage given by leaving and rejoining. Other than to annoy others. Definitely annoyed me since I have a supermission for kills.

High DL? I thought about that, but any player who does this will end up with a great DL but spend forever ranking up :/

I guess that's how C_H_A_M_P_I_O_N did it.

M2 Dictator and Shaft with protection against long range guns on long range maps from an m2 module and skill is how he got his k/d. He doesnt buy so he obviously stays in his battles, cause if he didnt, he wouldnt have those things, and if he was a buyer, he'd be using actual m2 equipment, not m1's MU'd to near M2.

Try Arcarvel instead if you're looking for that type of player.

He's definitely a buyer. If I can't all those things he has, I believe just 15% of all tanki savers can better than me. Mean Avalanche kit + Hiding from being killed (you can't earn that many from this)+ Almost M2 combo of Shaft\Dictator (on Warrant Officer 4 yah)+few others M1\M2s and he probably join less competive battles in which how the heck would he earn for this all equipment? Bruh. -_-

maybe they lagged out and they stopped responding, so they refreshed and rejoined. This happens to me a lot because my computer isn't exactly top notch gaming material

Few months ago there was time when many gens use to do it. I really could not figure out the reason as I always checked there stats, KD wasn't high, so that could not be the reason. Most of the guys who did it were using Rail/Viking in DM's. So I did ask around about it and apparently some TOP clans didn't accept people with low K/D, so people had to ''boost'' it.

I play team games and when I come across these type of players, I usually leave. That team gets screwed mostly, being a player short when needed and concentration being near to non-existent when he/she is present. I could give them the benefit of the doubt and pass it off as connection issues. More often though, it's very persistent and I don't even see the player materialize in game. I'd put my finger on it being a mult then, tactically denying battle slots because it simply and effectively utilizes a loophole in the rules. You can't get banned for it.

If it's in a DM, it's plain cheating and should be reported. It goes without saying that players who are probably afraid of being called out in DM's for doing this, move into team games where they are less likely to face individual attention, while they rack up that D/L.

Top spot on the leaderboard, plus beginner's pass, plus any premium missions, crystals earning missions, plus doing daily missions every day to get weekly rewards....there's a lot a player can do to get crystals. I have nearly 90k. I should buy shaft and dictator m1 since he usually uses dictator. I'm not a buyer either and I could easily buy an m2 or 2.

That's the perfect example on how useless this stat is.

Especially to clans.. I mean:

  • if you play in a team that has agreed positions and tactics your gameplay will be completely different anyways,
  • If they are on their way to a DD drop, it makes more sense to rush over and grab it; even if you get killed; before they get it and make use of it and kill half your team using it

I do that all the time! Even though I know I'll die before I get the DD or DA and get called a noob for trying, I'm just glad they didn't get to use it.

It's a useful tactic to join, fire a few times, leave before you die, and rejoin with full health, for helping a badly losing team with a base overrun.  It doesn't give the enemy score from killing you, and weakens them.  However, this should ONLY be used if the battle is really hopeless.

Either that or drug with vulcan. Vulcan can end armies of tanks. Add my new back up btw: Mini_gun_frank18

Dictator and Vulcan go well together! Got a 28 k/d on Future this morning! :D

I only see this tactic when one is flipped. It takes almost 10 seconds still for me to spawn (2 (Realizing) + 5 (Actual time) + 2 (Mid-air moment) + 1 (Spawning)). When I leave and join, it takes all but 2-3 seconds.

I saw a player on my alternate account with smoky m1 full and lots of drugs, with k/d profile over 20,mine was full m0 thunder with mued mammoth m1 ,easy. Didnt waste drugs just flipped him by pushing ,he left battle ,so he could get rid of lower k/d .

And how did he maintain that during Recruitment through Sgt ranks?

Something still doesn't smell right. He probably power-leveled with a friend or alt.

Who knows? He mostly plays Tanki X. Either way, I saw him in battle once and he's a clearly well skilled player. He's probably like me when damaged badly. I'd stay behind cover until I could safely get a repair kit box or wait for an Isida to come heal me.
