valid Color-Customizable Legend Rank Icon

A lot of Legend players are unhappy with the new Rank Icon that they got.  Legend should have the most special and beautiful rank icon in my opinion.  So I am proposing this idea to give players another incentive to rank to legend and legends a special feature for their status.

 

The Legend Icon, as you know, is a red gem embedded in a Silver wing-casing.  My idea would enable legends to choose the color of the gem (not only red, but green, blue, orange, purple,) but not from a huge list of colors, just some basic ones.  Legend players would also be able to switch the wing-casing around the gem from silver to gold, which would please those who like the Golden ranks better.  So instead of a silver-red combination like we have now there would be more possibilities, like a blue gem in silver, or a green gem in gold.

I mean it's just the color of the same template, not like you can upload anything for your icon. But thanks for bringing that up. :)

I think it would make sense to have a certain gem-color for [Legend 1+2], and a different one for [Legend3+above].

Legen 3 are 2Mio XP, and a lot of things have changed by there.

Maybe. But I generally am not opposed to special $$$ features that don't affect gameplay negatively....like special paints as opposed to supplies.

Maybe, your idea would make more practical sense but would ruin the point. The purpose it to give Legends another unique bonus and allow them to customize their look. What if the higher-ranked Legend you got, the more colors you would unlock? Maybe after Legend 3, for example, you unlock the "golden" casing. :)

As we all know since the new legend rank been introduced it became the most prestigious rank in TO yet it seems that it's icon dosen't completly reflect that

 

as you can see in the table below, the legend rank is the only rank in TO witch has a silver part in it:

 

 

 

 

 

and silver is known to be less expensive than gold and less valuable... (i can talk forever about how silver is less valuable compared to gold but i won't :ph34r:) point is it dosen't give to the rank the credit that it deserves...

 

So here is my suggestion: Replace the silver part in the legend rank icon with a golden part to make it more attractive & classy and more compatible to the whole TO ranks

But i agree with this guy.

Legend is only gray (palladium, titan or silver) in the game and it doesn't fit with others.

I like golden legen, which has "gold" paint and crystal in the middle should be blue.

I respect your point of view but, why do you think the XT hulls & turrets have golden stuff instead of silver/platinum/palladium ? I believe the icon should be remade into a golden one for the same reason that devs choose for the XTs to have golden pieces am i right ? i mean that color for actual legend rank icon exists also on m1 m2 m3 modifications of hulls & turrets yet they dont stand out, Also you might say even the lowest ranks icon are golden yet they don't that red crystal in the middle.

The thing here is that gold is the "odd one out" in terms of hull colours, so it stands out. In case of ranks, gray is the odd one out, so it stands out just as much.

It's not about odd or not, it's about the fact that standard (non-XT) hulls & turrets have their plates color in silver (cause in this case they are just ordinary with nothing special) while XTs have their plates in golden (cause they are supposed to be unique) so it was intended to give each of these two types of hulls & turrets these caracteristics to show the superiority of the xt above the standard version, so i don't think that giving the legend icon a color different than the other icon's colors (especially gray) would do the same.

Since they released the logo design, I have thought it has not fit in with the rest of the ranks. It would look better for the game for the silver-colored part to be gold.

It's actually platinum, which is more precious than gold. Besides we got enough gold ranks, if we make the legends rank icon gold, then the rank would lose its prestige.

 

 

Just about every rank below has gold, we don't need another gold rank.

 

 

So having platinum on the legends rank icon makes the rank extremely prestigious.

Make it a Gold background and you might as well call the rank Generalissimo... They'd look almost identical.
