Welcome, readers! So, you may be wondering - what's this article all about? As part of obtaining information for writing this unique piece inspired by Bigtimerush_bry's "personality type" forum topic, I encouraged the EN Helpers and Admins to take an online Myers-Briggs personality test, compiled the results and sorted them into categories.

Then, I took this detailed and interesting info about what makes us tick and used it to create a fictional piece. The idea was to set the scene for portraying the various characters of the EN Helpers, and to provide an entertaining glimpse of the personalities that make up our community volunteers. Revealing? You bet! Scroll on to read the result below.

A loud discussion could be heard booming throughout the office building. The EN Admins were in the boardroom.

Cedric sighed, closing his eyes and rubbing his temples with his fingers. He often had to mediate arguments and disputes between his strong-willed Admins. He disliked the conflicts, but he knew they had to be dealt with through communication and understanding to made sure his team worked together and achieved their long-term goals.

The boardroom was a vast space on the second floor of the office with a long wooden table down the centre, piled with notes and laptops. In the centre of the boardroom, a heated dispute was taking place. GoldRock and Ostrica were debating each other again. Confident and assertive, they exchanged precise logical arguments, driven to arrive at what they each believed to be the most efficient outcome. And secretly, they rather enjoyed negotiating solutions to difficult intellectual challenges.

Over to one side, Issho_Fujitora interrupted to passionately present a case he'd been considering in terms of how to improve the Helpers system. He firmly believed in supporting the right causes and wanted to help his colleagues be successful, toiling away for hours on end. Gold and Ostrica stopped to listen - perhaps they would disagree and critique what he said, but they respected Issho's contributions. This is often how long discussions got started in the boardroom, with the Admins encouraged towards providing constructive feedback on each other's opinions.

Meanwhile, other Admins were noticeably absent. Scientist was often away focusing on his Helper duties, working towards meeting the objectives he'd set himself in a practical manner. He did sometimes come to the boardroom and offer his supported analysis of the facts of the matter, but he often preferred accomplishing his work over long-winded discussions. On the other hand, Night-Sisters didn't really like the arguing in itself. Insightful and decisive, she would occasionally make an appearance to stand up for an issue believed in, that was for sure, but she preferred developing personal connections with her minions over confrontation.

A certain wabbit sat outside the boardroom, occasionally looking inside to amuse himself with the arguments and discussions that took place. He was renowned for his sense of humour - for example, he had opted out of the recent psychological EN Helpers report, leaning back in his chair as he quipped the following response...

"As for my personality, it falls under the 17th type category, which itself comprises of different types of people who are either too lazy or couldn't be bothered to take the test to fall under the other 16 types. I just don't know if that's a bad thing or not :("

***

Eventually, the discussion in the boardroom concluded, with Cedric providing some final words of encouragement about focusing on goals as part the bigger picture in his usual democratic fashion. The Admins each went their respective ways, their minds already back to what they needed to get done that day with their Helper groups.

On the ground floor of the office, the moderation groups were busy filing huge piles of paperwork and coordinating their responses to violations in the forum and game. A centre of communications, the moderators would constantly be rushing in and out of the building as they were called out on active duty to resolve the latest problems.

It was no surprise, then, that the majority of moderators were either principled diplomats or practical, responsible sentinels. Of the diplomats, those who like Night-Sisters took an insightful, personal and altruistic approach were represented by Fragrance in the forum and eSports sections and Levissio in the chats. Meanwhile, rommeltanki and Momma_Bear were known around the office as mature, hard-working chat moderators who valued harmony in working with their colleagues and players, seeking co-operation and understanding in much the same way that Cedric did with his Admins.

There was, however, always a louder diplomat to be found among the mods. Sociable and enthusiastic, SpaceCowboy18 was often absent from his desk - when he wasn't out in the community driven to complete his various tasks, he often pulled up a chair next to the wabbit sat outside the boardroom. Sometimes, they would move over to the eSports meeting room, known for being the liveliest area of the ground floor. When this happened, quality banter was bound to ensue.

In contrast with their more idealistic counterparts, the pragmatists of the moderation team brought balance to the team with their practicality and stability. Reliable and dedicated, DonCarnage brought a responsible approach to moderating the depths of social media alongside the forum, while alifarhan took much the same approach with his chat moderation. Other chat mods, UwH_BPL and chaktirasgt_9000, proved particularly strong-willed and organised in managing violations and dealing with players.

Even among the practically-minded mods, sociable Helpers could be found. Tareq.Jami and Hny93 were dependable and warm among their colleagues and effective at undertaking their day-to-day tasks, making them popular Helpers both in the office and outside in the community. But less extroverted members were definitely valuable to the team, too. Duchess was known for being supportive and loyal, which coupled with her practical skills and tendency towards perfectionism made her well-suited to helping out her colleagues and friends.

Over to one side of the ground floor, the remaining moderators had taken up an area for themselves. In one corner, the rare few analysts who had decided to take the mod career path had their desks. DarkOperative needed a bit more space - like GoldRock and Ostrica, he was efficient, strong-willed and confident, often looking to lead the way. And Mafioso and beaku were known for their sharp logical minds and their objective approach, often coming out with some pretty decent intellectual points about how they could best approach different situations.

Unfortunately, this sharp wit made for multish senses of humour. They were both well-known for their cringeworthy attempts at banter, leaving their colleagues to cope as best as they could through the use of ear plugs and other means. After all, the two had been given their own corner for a reason.

In the other corner of the ground floor, the more spontaneous personalities had their desks. Creative, sensitive and likable, CooperO worked in the forum and in eSports, often paying visits to the eSports meeting room and joining in with the light-hearted conversation - while Ngioeelds provided a relaxed and warm presence on the chat. And the chat mod drijfsijssie may have had a username that was a bit of a mouthful, but her boldness and practicality combined with her perceptiveness and attention to detail made her a unique yet decidedly positive influence among her chat moderator colleagues.

Overall, the ground floor of the office was among the busiest in the Helpers. The moderators had a whole range of personalities working together in various roles across the forum, chats, eSports and social media, and collaboration wasn't always straightforward, but one thing was for sure: they knew how to get the job done.

***

On the first floor of the office, wedged in-between the busy moderation hub on the ground floor and the Administration boardroom on the second floor, the content-creation teams had their home. Initially, they'd shared a floor with the mods, but they were soon moved out and given their own floor after things got too crowded (and to be honest, the mods weren't particularly happy with all the noise and the paper airplanes flying around the workspace).

Right in the centre of the floor, the sprawling bookshelves and desks of the Reporters dominated the scene. Interestingly, 6 members of the Newspaper team all took exactly the same approach to their work - Fen-Harel, Bigtimerush_bry, Shedinja, Viking4s, eragon33 and DestroyerPdox were all strategic analysts, confident and logical with their decisions. On top of this, the Wiki Editors Meliora and Reeco9 fell into the same category, written plans for their Wiki tasks characteristically ordered by priority and stuck on the walls next to their workspaces.

Reportedly (ba dum tss), Fen was rather disturbed by the fact that he shared this in common with known mult Bigtime, and consoled himself with a strategic plan to become more extroverted. This had embarrassing consequences for his colleagues at the desks next to him, who were forced to endure the torture of his subsequent attempts at 'smooth talking' (read and weep). Nevertheless, beneath the analytical approach lay some sharp pens, as readers of the Newspaper were likely well aware.

To the side, a handful of recently occupied desks lay vacant. On a couple of the placards, the names "TriNitroToIuene" and "Remaine" were written. Known for their knowledge and strength at debating issues, their contributions before they retired from the Newspaper were often informative and detailed. TNT has since (unsurprisingly) moved onto focusing on real-life debating competitions, while Rem has recently returned to his desk in his spare time to run a contest aptly named "Nawledge". Until their extroverted-analyst shoes were filled, their desks lay vacant in their honour.

At the other end of the row towards the less bluntly analytical and more diplomatic area of the Newspaper's floor, one of the remaining vacant desks bore the placard "Phoenix-Warbird". A mediator who had a preference for working together and dedicated, creative ideals rather than argumentative conflict, this style of working was continued by a couple of the colleagues she left behind, Vikingsrallentando and So. Cypher, who was involved in running Events for the community, was also a creative and co-operative Helper - a humorous presence in the Helpers' common area whenever he took a break from the job.

The final empty desk was layered in dust that had collected over the course of a long time. Scrawled across a faded golden placard, the name "hogree" was just visible underneath. A rather famous Reporter in his time, hog was quite the character. Reliable and altruistic, he had a certain charm which he expressed very effectively through his writing. In fact, PhantomInferno of the Hindi Newspaper and HiS.RoYaL.HiGhNeSs of the Arabic Newspaper who had joined since shared these traits, though the EN Newspaper's office space was yet to have another such protagonist working at one of its desks again.

The last of the Newspaper's diplomats were noticeable for the time and effort they put into their writings. Thekillerpenguin and newcomer Blackdrakon30 of the EN Newspaper and coolboyy5000600 of the Arabic Newspaper took an observant, relaxed and friendly approach to their work, getting along well with their colleagues and hardly ever attracting the spitballs that would much more often be aimed towards the analysts' area of the office floor.

Close to the entrance of the floor, the more practical-minded Reporters had grouped their workspace together. Almulty was practical and organised, with his notes neatly stacked up on his desk and full of content - a few desks over, Regency and Flexoo perhaps had less-ordered desks, but made up for it with their friendly and loyal attitudes and capable writing skills.

In fact, Almulty and Regency played a central role in the Newspaper's new "Special Features" team. Alongside the naturally sociable diplomats Thekillerpenguin and Blackdrakon30 (as well as an analyst, Viking4s), this special-response team was often seen rushing in and out of the office to cover the latest events in the community and game. Their range of personalities was part of the reason the Special Features team performed well under pressure despite their particularly demanding tasks, no doubt.

Infamous for his sense of humour, Yisroel.Rabin stretched back in his chair and yawned as Almulty rushed past him out of the door, working his way out of the mire of yet another task. He could be supportive and hard-working when needed, though his imagination and enthusiasm often spilled over into an amusing combination of humorous (and occasionally trolling) pieces and side-projects for the community, various notebooks cluttering his desk. Next to him, Bad.Meets.Evil's desk was also full of stuff he'd been working on for the Hindi Newspaper - despite the fact that he'd only been recruited and moved into the office recently.

The final part of the Newspaper area had fewer desks. The least common of characters among the Newspaper Helpers, the explorers had an outsized influence due to their creative prowess. Sagittarii took on two jobs at once, writing EN articles as well as managing the Hindi Newspaper, using his spontaneity and creativity to produce some great content and his calm and rational approach to ensured things were prioritised as necessary. Galaxy, whose Helper tasks were centred on the Wiki, worked in a similar way - grounded yet creative, his written contributions made sure that players stayed informed while keeping the Wiki full of engaging content.

The other couple of desks were home to two Arabic Reporters. Sensitive, yet imaginative and adventurous with his ideas, MeTrIKSS78 often wrote some pretty original pieces - while MiZ0o0 was a particularly outgoing and bold presence, making sure the level of conversation in this part of the office floor never got too quiet!

One thing was clear - this floor of the office was an integral part of the Helpers. Analytical, practical and diplomatic types worked alongside their rarer spontaneous and naturally-artistic counterparts, each group playing to the strengths of their team members. More importantly, the content-creation Helper teams had also managed to win "Most Banterous Floor" for the 3rd year running, a contest they may or may not have created themselves. Nevertheless, this variety of characters was the fundamental cause of their awesome (if I do say so myself) contributions, making sure the teams on this floor continued helping the community to a high standard.

Cedric sat in the boardroom alone, sipping a late-night cup of coffee. The office was mostly empty by now - apart from some of the dedicated chat moderators on the ground floor and Cypher and PhantomInferno exchanging witty comments on Floor 1, not realising that everyone else had got bored of them and left hours earlier. Their loud voices echoed throughout the building ("1v1 me rite here rite now m8!!1"). Cedric paused for a moment, got up from his chair and shut the door.

With that distraction out of the way, Cedric returned to his coffee and his thoughts. He normally would have left by now along with the other Helpers - he needed to rest after his long days of work, and nobody wanted to stay in the building with the aforementioned couple longer than necessary.

However, today, something had made him stay. He sat back and thought about his Helpers, contemplating the achievements accomplished with projects over the last few months and whether things had gone the way he had wanted them to. Yes, they had gone pretty well, actually. There was still more work to be done, a never-ending to-do list as always, but he allowed himself a smile.

Things were going well at the office. He leaned forward in his chair, and took another sip of his coffee. He leaned back. Hm, he was pretty tired now. He really should go home and get some sleep... sleep...

"Look, I think you're wrong on this one. That approach just won't work." "Well, I think you're the one who's misguided here. We really should do what I suggested befor- oh wait, Cedric's already here?"

Cedric groaned and opened his eyes. Daylight streamed in through the windows. In front of him, GoldRock and Ostrica had just walked into the boardroom, paused mid-argument as they acknowledged their boss.

Just another day at the office...

What is the Myers-Briggs Personality Test?

Basically, it's a psychological test intended to give you an indication of your character, how you approach the world and so on based upon your answers to a number of relevant questions. The result is 'labelled' using a 4-letter combination, along with a 5th letter on the end e.g. my own personality is ENTJ-A.

Introversion vs. Extroversion (I vs. E, the first letter) refers to preference for solitary or group activities and where a person sources his/her energy (internally from oneself alone or externally from communicating with others). This doesn't mean 'shyness' or 'confidence' unlike what is commonly thought, although quietness/loudness are correlated with introversion/extroversion to some extent.

Observant vs. intuitive (S vs. N, the second letter) concerns whether one tends to focus on being practical, down-to-earth, and focusing on the past or present. On the other hand, intuitive people tend to be more curious, imaginative and focused on new possibilities for the future. In a way, it's whether you're a realist or more of an idealist.

Thinking vs. Feeling (T vs. F, the third letter) is fairly straightforward, and is an indication whether a person takes a more objective/rational approach with an emphasis or logic, or whether a person is more driven by emotions and values empathy over intellectual analysis. It's efficiency vs. co-operation, rational thinking vs. social harmony. Both types of people definitely have a huge part to play in the world.

Judging vs. Prospecting (J vs. P, the fourth letter) is about the way in which we work, plan and make decisions. Judging individuals tend to have a decisive, clear and organised style, preferring structure and planning over unpredictability. Conversely, those with the prospecting personality type like improvising, spotting opportunities and being more flexible and spontaneous over having a set predetermined plan.

The extra fifth letter refers to the confidence we have in our abilities and decisions. Assertive people are self-assured, stable and calm, not worrying too much and not pushing themselves too hard in reaching their goals. On the other hand, Turbulent people are often more self-conscious, susceptible to stress and emotional. However, they are also perfectionists, driven to succeed, and constantly seeking to improve themselves.

If you're interested in finding out more about the above, it's worth reading this webpage, which I used as the source for the above. Start from the heading "Five Personality Aspects" if you want to get straight to the specific test information.

Also, look under the spoilers below for a summary of each of the 16 personality types, along with the Helpers categorised beneath them.

Key for the below images:

On the left of the usernames, the letters refer to the Helper position held:

CM - Community Manager
Ad - Administrator
Mf - Forum Moderator
Mc - Chat Moderator
Me - eSports Official/Moderator
FB - Facebook Moderator
R - Reporter
W - Wiki Editor
E - Event Helper
D - Designer

The pre-fix "ex-" is used where the player is no longer a Helper (a retired Helper).

On the right of the usernames, the letters "A" and "T" refer to the fifth and final letters of the personality indicator i.e. whether the person is assertive or turbulent.
