[Declined] Change Server Restart Time

When I look at the game list in the generally popular EN servers after the server restart, it is full of... nothing. There are barely any battles to choose from, and most of them are one-sided. The main culprit of this is the server restart- it happens a 9 PM my time, which is prime gaming time. The server goes down, and during that time, people (including me) get distracted elsewhere on the internet, and do not return to the game for an hour or so. When they come back, they find no good battles, and go to bed. If the server restart time was moved, it would greatly increase thousands of Tanker's enjoyment levels all over the United States.

 

Now for the numbers.

 

Currently, the server restart is 2:00 UTC +0, 9:00 PM Eastern, 7:00 AM in Perm (Tanki's headquarters)

 

Here are my two proposals, keeping in mind they are up for debate-

 

Move the restart to 4:00 UTC +0, which would be 11:00 PM Eastern, and 9:00 AM in Perm

-Doing this would mean two more hours of quality battles for people in the United States, and would only have a small effect on the large population of Russian tankers. I know in the US, there are not many battles before 9:00 AM, and I know that is the same in Russia- right now (11:45 PM eastern), RU2 is the only Russian server that is populated.

-This would also mean that during the summer, the restart would be midnight Eastern time, but still the same time in Russia, due to Russia having a permanent time zone.

 

Move the restart to 23:00 UTC +0, which would be 6:00 PM Eastern, and 4:00 AM in Perm

-This would have a minute effect on Russian tankers. Very few people are up at 4:00 playing Tanki.

-While it may seem that it would have a negative effect on US Tankers, it would actually not. The server restart only lasts about 7 minutes on average, so the servers will be back up by 6:10 at the latest. This means that new battles would be created, and the battle list in the US at night time would be diverse.

 

 

 

I know for updates, the server generally goes down at 4:00 UTC, and it definitely has a positive effect on the battle list.

The choice of time for the server restart is pretty simple: it's the time when least players are online. Changing the time in any direction will make the restart less convenient for more players, so it won't be an improvement overall. To be honest, it won't even help US players because all it would do is remove the 5-minute pause during restart, while the number of players in that time will not increase. So yeah, sorry for the inconvenience, but unfortunately you're a minority here and changing the restart time to benefit your time zone is just not worth it.

 

There is an alternative solution for this - have different restart times on different servers. Developers know about it and now it's up to them to decide if they want to implement.

It sounds pretty common sense, or atleast the way I took it does. Have the EN servers go down at like 4 am eastern (midnight pacific), and have the RU servers go down at 4 am in whatever Perm's time zone is. If a server is down, it simply cannot be selected to go to, and when it is about to go down, you can just switch between EN and RU servers.
