Battle fund should be awarded when each player leaves:

1. No player’s contribution to the battle fund should go unrewarded.
2. Players experience different problems such as power outage or loss of internet connections.
3. Due to reduced pause time, players are now no longer able to rejoin matches in time if disconnected due to browser/internet problems.
4. XP is earned instantly, so battle fund should be as well.
5.  This would encourage players to switch teams to balance team size, knowing that they would not be penalized by loosing contributions to the battle fund.
6. This would also encourage players to join matches although knowing they would have to leave the game before the match ends. (e.g. During lunch break from work)

Developers stated that they do not want to reward players at all if they leave before the battle ends. By their logic, when you enter a battle you dedicate yourself to finish it if you want to be rewarded.

 

However, the idea of being able to switch teams is under consideration. Developers said that they plan to make it possible to retain the score you had when you leave the battle, so if you choose to switch teams, you get to keep your score and still get a higher reward when playing for the opposite team.

Just find a way to imrpove your internet speed and performance or downloadCcleaner that removes files that take up space for your computer to increase its performance.

As long as you only play standard 15-minute battles, the progress you lose will not be too bad. As for PRO battles with a larger time limit or without a time limit at all - you play those at your own risk.
