Scope/sight for projectile weapons

Recommended Posts

We all have bad days when we miss our target when firing. But what if we had the ability to aim in a more precise fashion, allowing us to land more consistent shots on target and make the most out of some of our high recoil, hard-to-aim weapons? That's why I suggest the addition of a low zoom/power scope or sight for use on all ballistic projectile, excluding Vulcan and Hammer.

Let me know what you think and whether or not this should be in the game!

Unlikely that this will happen. Tanki isn't the kind of shooter where you can take time to stop and aim at your target. You mostly just have to learn to aim naturally without the scope or shoot and hope for the best.

In lower ranks you get flags if the defenders miss you.

If you give an aim-sight to those players, you make the gameplay much harder for all newcomers. But you can not give them the counter-medicine of experience to level that toughness out again. Therefor the gameplay would be less fun.

In lower ranks it is still "not thaaaat hard" to cap a flag alone or as group of two tanks, because players shoot at you and miss you.

If you give aim assistance to low ranked players, they will have a hard time to get flags; generally a hard time to survive on the field.

You see this when you come to high ranks (Gismo +). Those players hardly miss (maybe 80..90% hitrate). Also they have a high battle field awareness.. so attacking them and capping a flag by going alone is almost impossible (without supplies).

But those high ranks are also tactically way more experienced and have learned how to move, when to shoot (or not), and how to attack in groups wihtout talking about it (see what others do, attach to them, blend in your team). So they can compensate and have fun in the battles.

The difference to many other games where an fixed sight is not much of an issue, is that tanki is a 3rd person game (you see yourself from above). Therefore you can see a loooooot more of the surroundings. You can spot enemies behind walls.

ps: but I have to admit i have a lot of bad days and would have use for this xD

ps2: make it a piece of equipment that is sold for real money. 1,- USD for 1 months of aim-sight. It would keep the battle field effects low (few palyers have it) but make addicted :P

Hmm. You have to figure though, if the gameplay was slower, and aiming was very hard, but you had the time to stop, set up the sight, and aim at your target, it would be a large help for some players. Also, if it had a mouse control options, it wouldn't necessarily replace shaft, but it would grant newbies who don't know how to use their turret an ok way to fight against those that do. Granted there would have to be drawbacks to implemented weapon sights, maybe increased recoil, decreased impact force, etc.

Also, I agree with Blackwasp that if it were implemented, make it a real money turret. It would be the first of its kind :D

I just realised that I talked about something different maybe.

  • I did not talk about a zooming aiming optics, that zooms in and works like shaft

  • I talked about THIS:

  • 11i20qu.png

This is a pure and simple red line, that marks the area where you will hit targets.. but would help a lot already.

  • You dont have to wait and aim like with a sight -> you just drive and rotate the turret and at the moment when the sight is over the enemy push space.
  • Works great for almost all projectile based turrets, except Shaft (has a sight) and Rail (has the delay.. you have to keep it on the enemy)

They could also craft a Shaft-Laser to your turret as an alternation.

  • would be visible only on your PC, only to you
  • from the third person perspective
  • the other players see no laser at all

I thought more of a payable alternation.. like an addon to all existing turrets :)

It does not harm normal players if 5% of all players purchase this.

But they should not add it to premium per default IMHO.

Seriusly, but who would like to have disturbing big red lines over half of the screen in any game? And you even would need to pay for this!?

^^

I share your view that players do have to learn this. And this little red line could be replaced by a half-transparent line with a nice target-lockon sqare box.

But serisouly, do you think anyone cares what we think, if this could be a sellable feature that is sooo easy to implmeent?

Tanki has maybe 400k active accounts. If only 1% buy's that, they earn 48.000 USD per year.

They sell paints that look like if a clown's confetti bag has exploded. But they do sell. So.. please don't think for yourself, but for others. There are players that have troubles with aiming, and this will help them - a lot. If they pay, then those two things (get help, pay for it) are all that counts, no matter what we think ;)

You sir, are a saint, and I would personally like a targeting box, kinda like what you get with rocket launchers in Call of Duty in terms of looks. The red line would be sorta disconcerting, but, hey, if it works it works.

no its not fair.

This actually would not give them an advantage. Tanki is so fast paced most veteran players would be better off WITHOUT the scope. It would only help beginners. At your rank it wouldn't effect gameplay at all.

You need to figure, that at your rank you can prefire railgun and hit a target on the side side of Scope with ease, am I correct? However, how many newbies do you think you know that can do the exact same thing? I've been practicing my aim lately, so I'm a decent prefire shot, but that's with railgun, which is actually one of the easiest to aim weapons in the game. It's fair if it has a control, like rank limit, or maybe through an alteration.

Well at first I could not turn my turret, we all learn this throughout our ranks.
