[Declined] Special modules for self-damaging turrets

Erm last time I tried this, I think it got closed down, I was kinda hoping it would stay open so anything relating to modules could go in there.

 

Anyway, todays idea, relates to the 4 prot modules.  Perhaps these could be available for weapons that also self damage, like thunder, rico, and whatever new thing is coming.  This would allow 3 effective protections against other players, as well as limiting damage to self.  They could also be tied to self damaging weapons so that you need the weapon in use before you can enable the module.

Self-damage for Rico, Thunder and any other weapon is one of the turret's main disadvantages and a key factor to gameplay balance. Giving players an option to simply get rid of it by buying a more expensive module would most likely make the turrets OP and result in more problems with balancing equipment.

 

More importantly, you are suggesting a very complicated, brand new feature, but it won't even make that much of a difference while requiring an immense amount of effort from developers in order to implement it. It would be a lot of time and effort invested into something unimportant. You can already just buy a protection module which has protection from the turret you use and thus reduce the damage from your own shots, so this whole new thing isn't really necessary.

I guess the thought process included the fact any other weapon can always have 3 protections of any choice, whereas unless you're suicidal, the weapons that self damage usually end up wearing one of their own plus 2 others. Modules could be limited to kits, or extra cost, however it works out. Even if the self dmg protection was somewhat less, although thats a break from standard module policy... Actually there's a theory, 4 modules that can only add up to the maximum protection offered in the 3 module versions.

This has been suggested before, where the M4 version would be 37% against 4 turrets. They would even have to be a little less, to compensate for the increased versatility and overall effectiveness.  But before that happens, the devs need to put in more triple modules, as some good combinations of protections don't exist as a module. *cough* hammer-thunder *cough*
