Master Of Parkour 2016 - Final

The Master of Parkour - MOP competition is a parkour tournament created in 2013. In this article, we will focus on what happened in today's Final, briefly reporting on the performance of the 10 finalist teams (would have been 11 but a Brazilian team unfortunately pulled out beforehand) who gave their best to reach this final stage.

Let's talk about the Final!

(Note that the scores/ranking shown on the stream towards the end are incorrect, due to a technical error - see below)

It was an intense final between these 10 finalists! Each team had to complete a series of tricks, each trick within a time of 2 minutes - the teams earned points based on their timing, technique, and the creativity and difficulty of their approach.

So, which teams won the extraordinary Spider SA * protection module with 50% mine resistance?

The teams:

- The Maniacs: @TemurGvaradze, @OnlyGodCanJudgeM_e, , @Cry

- The French Fury: @Brezator, @shot91160 , @rascasse49, @charly.guette

Indian Spirit: @S.U.K.H.W.I.N.D.E.R, @iN.O.O.B, , @TS7StudioHD

- R4NDOMLY WON: @FelRigge, @MOR4RL3,

- Fight & Flight: @Miahak, @darrrex, @SwiftSmoky, @So

- VIPS: , @I.Am.YoUr.NlghTmArE, ,

- The Flying Parkourist: @Nikk, , , @Torben_BoS

Covalent: @cube3e, @SHOAIB.ZAFAR, @Spoon, @You_Lose_ok

- German Tanki Tutorial: , @jnjnnj, @I.Destiny

- Dutch Revolution:  @I.Legend.I, , , @Mr.SkiIIZz

In summary:

Unfortunately, two of the ten finalist teams could not participate in the final: The French Fury and Dutch Revolution. It is a pity to struggle and work hard to reach such a high level in the competition, and then not to be able to show what they are capable of.

Let's see how the other 8 teams approached the three tricks and what points the teams got for each of them.

1st trick: Kungur

- The Maniacs: They were unlucky with their first attempt at this trick in Kungur. Their second attempt was very close to being a success but... it failed to make it. They won 6.8 points.

- Fight & Flight: An awesome trick! Considering its difficulty, the team surprised everybody by pulling the stunt off within the first minute. They won 56.5 points!

Indian Spirit:  They used an interesting (but less challenging) composition and managed the trick in 20 seconds! They won 50.1 points.

- R4NDOMLY WON: This team made a rather interesting structure in their parkour attempt, but unfortunately didn't manage to get on the house... so they earned 19.8 points.

- VIPS  The team made use of the common approach shown in the example video for the task. Unfortunately, the player who was jumping landed on his side which made the trick less pretty, but they did manage to get on the house in an impressive 11 seconds! They won 42.8 points.

- The Flying Parkourist: A hugely impressive and difficult trick, just about managed within 1 minute 40 seconds. They won 53.9 points!

Covalent: Making use of the common approach, they succeeded in 56 seconds. They earned 30.7 points.

- German Tanki Tutorial: Surprisingly, despite high expectations, GTT decided to take the common approach for this one. They managed the trick in two tries and 33 seconds, earning 38 points.

2nd figure: Kolhoz

- The Maniacs:  They realized the tricks in 2 trials using a Viking as the jumper. Not only was it challenging, but it was also very cleanly executed. This left them with a significantly increased total score (sum of scores for both tricks) of 66.7.

- Fight & Flight: They made an impressive trick involving just two tankers but were not scored highly (perhaps it wasn't difficult or well-executed enough for the judges?), leaving them with 91.9 points earned in total up to this point

Indian Spirit: Unfortunately, this team failed to find the mark and lost out in this round, their score only increasing by a small amount to 64.9 overall.

- R4NDOMLY WON: They failed, but were very close to getting there and so earned some points, moving their score up to 37.7.

- VIPS: This team also got pretty close on several occasions, but failed and weren't well-rewarded as a result, leaving them with a total of 65.6!

- The Flying Parkourist:  The team impressed us once more with an impressive trick, boosting their overall score significantly. They ended up with a grand total of 104 points!

Covalent: The trick was completed but just outside the 2 minutes allowed, and so a high score wasn't awarded. This left the team with 65.5 points for both tricks.

- German Tanki Tutorial: Demonstrating a rather difficult trick, the team managed to succeed in the 2nd try! Thus, they earned more points than in the first round and pushed themselves back into the competition with a total of 77.3.

Last trick: Wolfenstein

- The Maniacs: Once again, we were surprised by a huge trick! Their final total was 114.5 points - very respectable, but unfortunately let down by their very poor performance on the first task.

- Fight & Flight: A very unique and impressive approach was prepared, involving two Ricochets attempting to shoot a Wasp onto a building by rebounding their bullets against its wall (hard to explain, just watch it for yourself!). However, unfortunately they just couldn't get off the ground and didn't succeed. Their grand total was an impressive 119.7 points!

Indian Spirit: The team failed to get on the house in time, and so finished with 82.7 points!

- R4NDOMLY WON: They surprised us by realizing the an impressive trick in 1 minute and 40 seconds, totalling 90 points!

- VIPS: The team realized their trick very neatly and quickly. Grand total: 106.1 points!

-  The Flying Parkourist: Once again, we were amazed by the performance of TFP. Their trick was unique, highly skilled, and they celebrated their feat with a rain of gold boxes as they totalled 167.5 points!

-  Covalent: They didn't manage to get on the house in time, so they ended up with an overall total of 101.4 points.

- German Tanki Tutorial: They made use of a quick and tactical approach to this task, managing the trick quite well and finishing on 119.6 points... just 0.1 of a point behind Fight & Flight!

An extra interview

Why did you participate in the tournament?

@TS7StudioHD: I participated in this tournament because I want to represent my country, which is India. Also, I wanted to show some cool tricks for the audiences and for them to have fun. This competition makes you become better and perfect your talent.

@cube3e: The reason why I decided to take part this time after losing every year whilst knowing that this year there would be only 10 winning teams was the encouragement and support offered to me by my amazing parkour club, Fight & Flight, who I have to credit for all of my success over the past year. Thanks to their amazingly creative ideas which they had passed down to me, I knew I had a much bigger shot at winning this time than I ever did.

@SwiftSmoky: I have two reasons to participate in MOP. Of course everyone want the prize. But also to show my team's (Fight & Flight) skills to a wider audience to get more subscribers. As much as I don't like trying to become more famous, it is a requirement for achieving my goal of teaching the community and improving the parkour in the game.

: Simple. First of all I wanted the paint :P

Second of all it is our task to take place as the official EN Parkour team. (my opinion)
In addition I expected it to be fun even though it took some time particularly during the live-stream.

@Torben_BoS: Easy... we are TFP, a parkour team. It was obvious that we would take part in a parkour contest!

Were the tricks harder to achieve under stress?

@TS7StudioHD: The tricks are harder under pressure, but you get to take up a real challenge and I love it  :).

@cube3e: The pressure was immense! Half of my team members were only active on weekends meaning we only had 2 days a week to actually get the good tricks recorded. I only had 2 days a week to make sure all my team members, specs and helpers to help us organise the big tricks such as the skyscraper were readily available.

@SwiftSmoky: I don't feel pressure when a lot of people watch me, I had a few performances on a stage as a child so I don't get any pressure from being watched.

: Since I am used to be in a live-stream - not that much. However, there still is the pressure and the thought that you have to succeed as fast as possible. Therefor, as a result, you easily might make mistakes. To be honest there is sometimes a little bit of luck involved in contests like MoP. Still skill is required more.

@Torben_BoS: I guess so. The 2 minutes are hardly any time, and in preparation we were better in these tricks - of course, after we had found the way we wanted to achieved them.

Thought Warulf was asking about the amount of pressure on getting the MoP vid done on time. ._.

Why does everyone forget that is a queen and not a king!?

Because even so-called friends see insults as a joke ))

That sadly is life in the internet

Why is this topic still pinned? I get it that it is important, but it is now 2017, not 2016.

That doesn't mean the topic will be renamed to MoP 2017.
