Reduce the number of servers

pretty self explanatory....but why?

 

 

The problem is there are less players now than there were before the "Battle Button"...I would venture a guess at about half.  Most of the time you can look at the server list and the load is miniscule.  Only peak play times is there enough players to generate battles.
 
If you take half the players then split them again into pro/non-pro battles there are even fewer decent battles due to number of players being reduced.  Then, take all the pro battles and split them into many different types of battles and what you get is 999 minute or even 120 minute battle and even the default time is 30 minute battles where the few players that are left come and go making a very unexciting battle experience most of the time.  
 
My first suggestion is to let pro-pass holders create standard battles also...this would be the best fix, but another approach would be to jam the few players that are left into fewer servers which would make the player pie larger per server.  This would force the battles to fill more quickly.  I would guess the current 33 servers listed could be cut almost in half...Tanki might save a few $$$ on server cost and battles would get more exciting again instead of an out of season Easter egg hunt as one searches the different servers for anything remotely full.
 
Possibly extra servers could come online in peak hours or if there were some sort of special occasion where server load is greater like Halloween, Tanki's Birthday, etc.

If you take a deeper look, those servers you see like "dead", actually may be full of newbie rank players that can't or don't know to chat and your rank is too high/low to see battle lists. Maybe I would say that some RU servers are useless, there should be like 12 RU servers.

I'm pretty sure it takes into account players of all ranks on a server when displaying how full it is. So it's not a case of lower ranked players being "invisible".

I didn't mean on "invisible" but saying to @ByeByeBye that in a server there may be a lot longer battle list than he sees. And true, when selecting a server there is a bar which shows how full it is, but it may be like EN7, you see it full and enter it, nothing to see. So tanker may think it's quite empty and say that there isn't "enough players".

I think they said something about a future update for the battle button sending players to a battle on any server. If that is still planned, reducing the number of servers would not be needed. Also, at some times of the day, most of the RU servers are packed.

Yes, you are correct.  I was talking about the server menu that shows the individual servers...not the chat or the actual battle menu...the server menu with EN1, EN2, EN3, RU1,RU2, etc.  This should show the total number of players using that particular server whether they are visible on the Battle menu or not.

 

And if the silly Battle Button encompasses all the 33 servers instead of just one, that still doesn't take care of ProPass battles or give one any choice in joining Standard battles currently in progress   Fewer servers would make each server more dense with players making the battles more full...cram everyone into a smaller space to make the mosh pit more dynamic. 

 

Also, I would guess the "Battle Button" is used WAY WAY less now than it was the first week when Tanki likes to quote stats.

 

The best fix would still be to let ProPass holder create Standard Battles.  It might even sell a few more ProPasses because of the ProPass exclusivity...ProPass holders would certainly be more popular in chat (gawds....by Hawking's Chair I can hear the begging now).

It doesn't though. Devs plan to implement it later, but at the moment it only sends you to battles in the server you are on.

I can't make a new topic so I will just quote your post. Why is there need of buying Pro Pass to make battles , specially my ranked players.They don't even earn 500 crys every day.

You don't need to create battles to play. Click the Battle! button and you will be sent to an existing standard battle or the server will create a new one for you. Creating battles is now considered to be an extra feature that's only available to users with a PRO pass, so if you want to use it, you have to buy the pass. Its cost was reduced greatly for low ranks, so it's completely affordable if you consider the fact that you get it for a whole month, but can earn back the cost of it within a couple days. Also don't forget all the supplies you can save by playing no-supply PRO battles instead of normal ones.

Only issue with reducing servers is then you'd have those special days where 70-90k are online and every single server is filled. In this case because there isn't enough servers. 

 

Point being it isn't gonna help Tanki. 

 

Pro pass holders can't create regular battles - Most probally right now because of the newly added back maps. They will probally have to spend hours coding to disable you from making a regular battle with one of those maps - even if you hold a pass they said they did not want anyone going to them. 

 

Secondly. I think they outta add a special statement in thier code to send Pro-Battle users to "Standard" pro battles. That would help a lot. Sometimes even pro battles get low. 

 

Anyhow - You think the players online is declining - there are factors:

 

School - Many schools have finals 

 

Holiday - Many people including many TO players will be away from thier computer to spend time with family for the holidays. 

Some may even stay at their releatives house until after the new year. 

 

 

Again Reducing Servers THIS fast would cause problems we DO NOT want. Plus, they have only added servers because of how many players play at one time per server is godly high. I think they should also reduce the number of players on each server as i suggested in another topic allowing other users to be the host of the battle would fix some of the lag, but I think the server boundaries are being hit with the big numbers of players per server.

Is it possible to limit servers from 24 to around 5 or 10? Everyone mainly seems to be grouping around EU1, EU2, and EU24, and trying to find a specific battle to meet the requirements of your daily missions is getting harder, since you have to scroll through 23 virtually empty servers.

Well 5..10 is a little bit too less..

 

It seems to me that a server can host around 2000 players comfortably (just an observation, not a prooven fact) - so your 10 servers would be packed with 20.000 players max. That is not sufficient nowadays.

Is it possible to limit servers from 24 to around 5 or 10? Everyone mainly seems to be grouping around EU1, EU2, and EU24, and trying to find a specific battle to meet the requirements of your daily missions is getting harder, since you have to scroll through 23 virtually empty servers.

Also, EU24 is the first server what newbies face with, and then, they go across the other servers until EU1. So you cant say that those servers are not used at all.

 

Moreover, if the main servers (such as EU1, EU2....) are overcrowded (especially on festivities) and you want to play relax with your friend(s), you can calmly go to those servers.

And many of them are empty.

Waste so much time trawling through 24 servers just to find a decent battle.

All this update did was double the amount of servers english people have to go through. It should go back under review.

That update has nothing to do with the one after which this idea was marked "completed".
