Patch Update #430 - New Striker turret, new Alterations and decorations

Yeah I remember that. You for sure needed a bodyguard for this week :P

 

 

I'm not asking to change it in the whole game. The players are used to it.

I just want to know, if there is a way, that I can change it myself in the console. I could not find the correct parameter.

 

I guess there have to be two parameters, like maybe:

- "camera turning acceleration??", that causes a delay when I turn the turret)

- "camera horizontal acceleration??", that causes the delay when I drive sideways.

 

The second case (driving sideways) is what I like to change. I made a picture, to explain what I'm asking for

Those are already options with the vars setcam commands. Just put it higher than 5.

Just bought Striker, and oh my god. It's so bad lol. Takes forever to lock on an enemy. And the damage made by one rocket is ridiculous XD.

I use DD and just tab Shoot (like a Shaft) fine. It kills most hulls in 2-3 shots. Yes the lock-on does take too long, 9 times out of 10 the enemy is killed or escapes.

Yes with DD it's good. But in Pro battles, it's probably the weakest weapon of the garage.

 

And yes, enemies have a lot of time to escape when they see the laser, or teammates kill them XD.

 

Lot of defenders right now are using Striker in HNY map. They bought it and they test it. It never was so easy to capture. Of course, they all lock on me and kill me, but 5 secondes after I captured ^^ Not to mention that if a fatty sits on the point, he self while shooting at me :lol:

I've just played several hours with striker. The auto guided salvo is useless against skilled players, and its vertical aim angle is very hard to overcome... but I'm fine with that, those are just some downsides, every turret has some.

 

What I find ugly is that it has very bad aiming while moving. Even when pointing 90° sideways (so acceleration does not affect vertical angle) it usually shoots over the target unless you briefly stop before firing... so avoiding enemy fire becomes pretty difficult.

 

It would be nice if targeting becomes instantaneous, like thunder or shaft...

 

Edit: Overshooting is caused by hull tilting when not pointing exactly 90° sideways. Please consider, as a buff,  increasing just a bit the downwards auto aim angle. IMHO, that will make the turret a lot more pleasant to use in a dynamic role.

 

Edit: This turret is terrible as it is now. Bad at short range (due to self damage), bad at medium range (hard to aim), and bad at long range (missiles can be dodged). It is fun, but it feels like a broken Thunder :) Improving vertical auto aim may make a difference.

I have bought M2 Striker and I feel it is really bad compared to other turrets.  

Usually I manage to be in the top 5 score of my team but with this Striker I seem to be always within the lower half of my team score.  

  • Its SO difficult to hit someone with the "lock-on" feature: either he moves / hides / kills you / team mates kill him / self-destructs / his team mates kill him / someone gets in the way / shoots you and moves you 
  • laser makes you a sitting duck with the time you spend not able to move because if you move, you easily lose lock-on 
  • and when you shoot with one missile..... not even God knows where the missile will end up
  • and if the enemy is right next to you, you self-destruct...

There are so many variables working against you that make this turret much worse compared to other turrets

Maybe in theory and on youtube this turret looks good, but in practice it is not... on all maps...

Please either remove laser ( it would still be verryyy difficult to hit someone) or make the one missile better

otherwise it will just be a useless ornament in my garage

Sorry for my negative post. (I rarely post ) but it reaally needs to be buffed up.

 

PS: oh and i forgot to say, every time an enemy see you they try to hit you even though there are 5 other tanks they could hit because they know there is little you can do about it....

I tried the M0 striker and the aim-while-move improoved a lot during the couple of hours I used it up to now.

This turrets just needs a lot of skill to aim with.

The only true "impossible" shots are those to higher elevations on moving targets, as the autoaim that guides missiles upwards works only if the target is in the autoaim section at the moment of releaseing the shot.. which is not the case if you have to lead the shot forward.

 

The homing system works fine vs. heavy hulls. Vs light hulls the arcade mode makes more sense anyways.

 

The damage is the same as thunder, but instead of thunder the damage does no decrease with distance. Of course you do not hit as easy on distance.

I just attended an M2/M3 Rio, about 9vs9 players. There were a couple of striker turrets and they did well.

They were especially effective vs heavy hulls; but only if they blended into their own team. The did not manage to hold/defend a flank as effective as a rail, Thunder or Shaft, but when they assisted an existing defender the results were very impressive

Today I have debate  to buy striker or richochet m3 and finally I decided to buy Striker. I can tell you that I am little disappointed. He has power, but nobody wears protection against striker. Most bothered to me is lock system . When you take aim faster Hull, it need a long time to charge to fire, and even a noob can see laser and he just hide behind some  building, rock, or other shelter and you lose a lock, and then you most to shoot in arcade mode,  or seek another enemy, but then, you're already dead.

I got a really neat 72% discount on striker today, so I've decided to buy it (besides hammer m3).

What I wanted to say is that it isn't as useless as many are saying. The homing mechanism really needs an improvement, and missiles should have a better acceleration too. But besides that, I think it's quite fun to play with it and in the end of the day, as I learnt a little tacfics with this turret I won a few intereating battles.

Alterations for Striker

 

The Striker turret needs to have four alterations. One alteration that Striker needs to have is the ability to lock on enemy targets faster.

 

Striker alterations:

 

1. Guided rockets alteration that follow moving target(s).

 

2. Lock faster on enemy target load alteration.

 

3. More damage per rocket alteration.

 

4. Rockets have greater splash damage radius alteration.

 

The above Striker alterations I have in mind will greatly help out players earn kills by using this turret. Developers have to consider my idea on alterations for the Striker turret because it will help those players earn more kills in tough battles.

 

The Striker turret needs to have Achievements in the Ratings page for players to complete as well.

These alterations would probably be very useful. But I would really appreciate if devs firstly looked at solving the existing problems on stock turret and only after that rhinking about alterations.

Sugesstions for striker

  • Instead of laser. Crosshair will be better, Cross hair will be more visible to you and Less visible to enemies 
  • Increase the reload time, so that it won't be soo OP like now. In polygon CP striker literally dominates
  • Idk if this is a suggestion But reduce its power and make it burn lil bit like fire cuz it makes explosions 

 

Everything i said up there is just ways to make it good, I hope it isn't bad idea :c

I got Striker M2 on my alt, and I hate to say it, but it sucks. It is outclassed by M2 rails, M1 vulcans, M1 thunders, and anything with any impact damage. I normally finish top 2 on my alt using vulcan or rico with no drugs, but I just played a game against ranks mostly lower than me (major), and finished within the bottom 3 of my team- about 150 xp earned in 15 minutes. Warrant officers were finishing above me. The thing it needs? A gyroscopic turret, like vulcan. Maybe also take a bit shorter to lock onto targets.

 

Let me explain. The most popular turret in the game, Railgun, has a very high impact force. When you are trying to salvo them, they can just shoot you and turn your tank like 110 degrees. When you finally lock back on, .7 seconds is up and you have to restart loading the green circle. If it was gyroscopic, high impact force turrets would not be able to easily beat Striker. While yes, slavo is very strong, that is only so in open spaces. Unfortunately, the maps often seen have no open spaces, a bit of an open space, or the open spaces are relatively derelect (Serpuhov, for example).

 

I like the turret. It is fun to use, but it is not effective. If I want to be any help to my team, I simply cannot use it. I take pride in being one of the best players in most battles on my alt, but I am not when using Striker. Tanki, please don't be complacent. I really hope I didn't just waste 60k crystals.

To me it is a bit weird, that Striker has a laser aim for precision and splash damage. The one thing is for precision and the other for areal bombardment... imo it should be possible to launch a salvo against a wall and such things, in order to use the splash damage more effectively. But we could also watch out for this when we have a guided mode in a Striker alteration.

Well, the fact that you can dominate every single battle isn't really a good thing is it? You do appreciate the fact that that's an indication that the turret might be overpowered, right? And if a turret is overpowered, is that good for the game or bad? It might be good for you as a player (in the short term at least), but what about the game?

If one can dominate the battlefield with striker it doesn't mean it's overpowered, it means the mentioned tanker has mastered his turret to the perfection. It's crucial not to interchange this two things.

And no striker isn't OP, just try it yourself ;) .

I saw 1..2 strikers in Poly CP per team. They did well but none of them ruled the field. And consider that protections are rare today.. as mentioned.

 

So General_Owusu, I doubt it is OP at the moment. You are simply skilled with this turret and the apropriate tactics; and you seem to play the right maps for it
