I think the splash damage concpt itself is a bit OP as-is in Tanki. Striker itself, you have to be a pretty good shot with single missiles. If you are it is pretty damn powerful. Few things in Tanki are more satisfying that hitting a sliver of an enemy peaking around the corner all the way across the map. :)

Or you could hit an object near them and let splash do its work

Of course but the closer you hit the more splash damage. Also sometimes you have to hit the part that's visible or else there nothing to splash off of.

However that is not really the point. The point is: it is fun to be able to score a bull-s-eye especially at extreme range. Especially with Striker who many people say can't hit the broad side of a barn. ;)

I got a few other accounts that I'm saving up to get striker, and I mainly use the single rockets, and it works really well.

Splash damage is not OP! All regular thunder/striker/twins players understand how annoying selfing is!

All decent Thunder/Striker/Twins players also know how to keep their distance.

Why should twins have to worry about keeping their distance when it has the stable plasma alteration equipped?

Everybody is saying striker is OP. I agree that the M0 lock-on might be, but when fighting M1 and M2s, it is basically just a heavy hull destroyer, as even a dictator can escape 80% of the time. I suggest that the striker M0s charging time should be nerfed, but the M1 should have the current charging time and higher modifications would charge faster than that. Something like:

M0:

3.7s

M1:

3.5s

M2:

3.4s

M3:

3.3s

M4:

3.2s

Please open the wiki, read the damage done by an M3 Striker salvo and calculate the salvo mode cycle time in respect of your proposed values (cycle time = time for a whole cycle = lockon time + fire rockets time + reload time).

I think you get a cycle of aprox. 1,3 + 3x0,25 + 1,96 sec = 4,06sec.

In this time you deal a damage of aprox 3.100 hp in average.

You just created the most powerfull turret in the game, that almost never misses any more and has no damage-over-range restriction..

Nethertheless you might still have a point when it comes to adaptable cycle times for different M-levels / momdifications. Please consider as well, that the players chanced by the laser, have to have an idea of how much time they have to run away.

I can come up with an even more powerful turret. I call it the "Banana Gun"

Sorry, I meant 3.7 to 3.2 not 1.7 to 1.2. That would be waaay OP. Re-read my post.

Which mode are you using it for? Single or Salvo?

Well as soon as I bought it I ran around like a noob, using salvo mode all the time; thinking that more rockets is always better. Now I use single mainly, I save up salvos for cluttered CP spots.

Well, better to have a new turret that's underpowered and actually takes some thought to use than a new turret that is way OP and takes 0 skill to use (ahem, Magnum).

I agree! I became a lazy healer and camper because I ditched my Smoky. I often miss the target with Striker, I guess this one takes some skill to be effective. Edited by splitterpoint

You have to learn to lead the target. Once tou can hit with single shots it becomes quite effective. Remember you do not have to hit the enemy tank just something near the enemy tank. Wall, ground, friendly tanks... anything. Also ricking your hull is important. I used it on Titan manybe other hulls need more or less rocking. It can miss high on a low hull like Viking. And the nose points up just a little when driving forward, rocking compensates for this.

Thanks, guess I need to make use of that splash damage. I'm familiar with hull rocking aswell but not with Striker yet.

Second day of use has gone pretty good compared to yesterday's result heh.

But I'll keep that rocking in mind; I remember it being pretty effective on Thunder and Wasp. Doing it on Viking is harder.

I actually tried Striker and Wasp to test the extreme and failed miserably. Though I think it'll pretty good when I get this rocking thing right.

EDIT: these Shoe M3's get in the way all the time though. The whole game is filled with Shoes and Mammoths because everyone bought Magnum and/or are hunting for gold boxes due to the celebrations (which are over but oh). I absolutely hate my Viking M4; realizing that it is indeed an utter complete waste of crystals, none of it's statistics match Viking's profile.

^^^^^^^^^^^

You can rock to flip a missile at a target on say a bridge like you do with your other hulls. But I want to be clear...I do a little bit of rocking on virtually every single shot. Unless I am dead still (not too often) I rock the shot. A little subtle rocking can be needed just to hit that low-slung Viking or to make sure the missile does fly parallel to the ground on those long shots.

Striker needs to load faster when locking into an enemy so that players don't miss the kill. I have M3 Striker.

I barely even see striker's now. It's underpowered compared to other m3's at m3 stage

Exactly! the loading is what makes this suck/

So I waited for a bit before I were going to answer you. In the mean time I've been trying to get better with this thing. The rocking seems to do the trick on some occasions, but I find myself aiming for the sky too much. What I did next was to improve my aim over long distance by aiming infront of moving enemies. I got it down pretty well.

In my hands, Striker still isn't the best turret. I definitely notice that when I play with Isida again, that thing is so easy to use.

I think with striker right now you just be determined.. The protections against it are pretty much non-existent for now, but it is very hard to use.. but hey, railgun seemed quite bad but now it's determined as one of the most skillful turrets you can use :p I've seen quite a number of pros play with it, like any other turret you just need an amount of time before you start using it properly... have you ever tried magnum? :p literally the first time I tried it on an alt, I got like 4 kills and 20 deaths

I wish I had more perseverance.... I think I'd be a pro with striker by now  But ye, I do get what you mean, I don't think I'll buy striker or magnum for now on my main.. I'll do like you and use my lovely isida ;p

At the low ranks, striker tends to be unpopular because they're mainly using the lock on mode. So it wouldn't really be the best choice to use at M0 or M1 ranks. But at M2, it starts to become a force to be reckoned with since not very many ppl have modules against it, and by then the striker users will have known that single rockets are better than salvo mode.
