Campers

We all know, campers are boring, they ruin all the fun in a battle and make the gameplay really bad.

In some maps, overall, there are some places and buildings that help campers doing what they want (E.G: the house in Sandbox). Do we really want this? Can the developers remove such buildings?

It's not just me, lots of people think the same.

I think removing this kind of things would make the gameplay better, because there would be less campers.

Let me know what you think :P

Come on, you can't say they're not boring unless you're one of them, it's not a matter of skills or countering them.

In XP battles you can't do anything unless you spawn behind them.

What you find boring may be your own opinion.

IN xp/bp battles, yes, they are boring. In multi-weapon battles they bring a new aspect of gameplay into it.

Some people just enjoy a less active "point and click" type of gameplay, so camping is the perfect choice for them. If you don't like it, just play maps which aren't particularly great for campers - the list of maps is massive so there are definitely options to choose from. But camping will not me removed from TO as it will lose a large group of players if that happens.

It depends on the turret and hull of choice. Those camping with a close combat turret like firebird and freeze can be very boring and wasted team effort. Though, I have seen some critical plays made by camping firebird and freeze.

But what about shaft and mammoth? You can't expect to see them on the front lines all the time. Once they start staring down that scope, they are easy prey. In arcade mode, the player has a tendency to panic and shoots prematurely, delivering very little damage, Another downfall is how slow and clumsy to turret is to return a counter-attack behind them. So, most of them camp.

Then there's railgun. Yes, you find railguns on the front lines, providing there is cover so they can shoot, hide/retreat, reload, repeat. Some players are good at it, others aren't and have more of a tendency to camp.

Then there are maps that are more conducive to camping. Get rid of the buildings and other hiding places and you ruin that kind of game play. There goes the snipers...the ones you are trying to get rid of.

Isidas use buildings and walls for protection, too. I'd say they are the most vulnerable of all turrets simply because of their ability to heal. Good game play is to kill the Isida first and then the tank they are healing. If a team has 3 Isidas, then one can afford to camp near the base to heal the snipers protecting the base. Take away buildings and other hiding places and there goes some of the Isida players, too.

So, now where are we? We've done away with shaft players (snipers), camping railguns (snipers), and Isidas (healing snipers and non-sniping tanks). So, what this really boils down to, is that you want to get rid of the snipers.

Now, let's talk about firebird, freeze, and hammer camping. I've been in CTF battles where the score is very close and both teams are aggressive. Getting down towards the end, it's still anybodies game. Any one or two of the above mentioned turrets can turn the tide of the game by camping near the base flag. They can kill a damaged tank, preventing a capture. But they can't always kill a tank with 100% health, but they can still put a good hurt on them making them vulnerable to attacks on the way back to their base. (That is providing they don't heal, pick up a life pack, or meet an Isida team mate along the way).

Nope, I don't think your idea will wash. In fact, I don't think it will get out of the laundry basket.

Always this howl, kids. :-)

Do you want a Shafter also say "go, go fight, you noob, don't camp!"?

Live with it or make an outlet.

Why not just make the game more realistic by removing all of the ridiculous speed?

Campers are a necessity for defense and pathway control, specifically on large maps. Camping is not boring - especially when you find that perfect spot for sniping. It's like slapping someone in back of the head and getting away with it every time you get a direct hit on your opponent.

But kudos to those that find the camper/sniper. Most of the time the camper is vulnerable to the high-damage short-range turrets.

Couldn't there be like a new game mode added to Tanki that removes camping.

CP.

Besides, there's plenty of maps which are bad for campers, so there is barely anyone camping there.

Nobody plays CP that often but yeah that mode reduces camping.

Are you kidding me? It's the second most popular game mode and I've seen plenty of players who spent over 1000 hours in CP.

Come on, you can't say that people running in plain sight are skilled !!

They are more boring than campers.

Camping is a game play strategy, running in plain sight with a flag hum ... it is not.

You can as well shoot aloud: I'm here with the red flag shoot me please.

if you want to reduce campers, stop feeding them.
