How good is striker?

My time w striker is limited but I found the turret a lot of fun. It does take more user skill to aim than other turrets. But i was able to jit moving wasps with single launches, which is gives ya a satisfying feeling.

One tactic I used was to shoot walls. Not just a wall when an enemy ducked behind it but walls in general. It is called "recon by firepower" in the military. In Tanki it means you shoot a back wall of an alley and up from behind the forward wall come drifting damage numbers... there's an enemy behind that wall completely unseen but now detected.  So you continue to rin in missiles and kill w/the splash damage while he cannot shoot back.

In short...my opinion is this turret is still too new for any sort of major re-work. Players have to learn to use it to its full capabilities still.  But Tanki is collecting data and certainly there will be some adjustment coming. It is all but impossible to design a new turret perfectly at release.

Striker is interesting because it plays well on two opposite types of maps.

For example, on open maps like Massacre or Desert homing in on enemies is easy because there is little cover. You'll get a lot of salvo kills this way (which by the way, are extremely satisfying).

On the other hand, using the primary fire on such maps is rather difficult because of how slow the rockets move. If you like using primary fire you can play on maps with more cover, where you can hit enemies with splash damage when they're hiding and since your rockets have less distance to cover, hitting enemies is easier.

Yes, the lock-on time is long, but after the recent update it is far more bearable. When it was first released any slight obstruction would reset the lock-on (stupid teammates (mults and saboteurs are nothing compared to teammates who get in your way just as you're about to fire), impact from enemy shots, props that look transparent but aren't, other enemy tanks getting in your way, etc etc etc) and playing in salvo mode was extremely frustrating. Now that the grace period has increased, locking on to targets is fairly easy but requires patience - perfectly balanced in my opinion.

Probably the most redeeming aspect is the range. Striker does great damage even at long ranges which sets it apart from Thunder. Personally I think it is slightly weaker than Thunder because of the rocket speed but a lot more fun to play with.

It's darn embarrassing when you get taken out by a Firebird/Wasp while reloading. A tank with full health can survive one shot and then come up to you and wait until you try to kill them. They know if you fire you will commit suicide and reduce your team's points.

While using Striker, a mammoth was coming at me while trying to reload. I encountered him before and knew he could survive a full load without DA. By the time I got a full load, he was very close to me. I let go with all four rockets. He survived, I did not. My Dictator M1 disintegrated.

If you had a Striker module on, would that also protect you from your own shots?

Yes, a striker module will reduce the self damage from striker.

For lock on:

35%- two rockets with a little bit of heat seeking.

70%- three rockets with some more heat seeking.

100%- full salvo with the current amount of heat seeking.

Should be put into striker

Today I played rift ctf with striker viking, and I was just rulling the battle. Beside skill it's important to know on which maps striker is efficient and on which it isn't.
