Why is this game locked at 60FPS max?

Hello, i was wondering why is this game locked at maximum 60 fps? and even with sixty fps, it doesn't feel smooth, it doesn't seem this game is processing my full cpu (30% only) and even it runs low gpu, its a light game, and a higher FPS should be achievable, i expect my pc with full potential can reach 200 FPS if its allowed to, but it seems to me the game is locked at 60.

Even if devs remove the 60 fps limit, it won't help because 99% of monitors have 60 Hz refresh rate.

I am not sure what are you saying? i have a 60 hz refresh rate and i seem to get a lot more than 60 fps in alot of other games? including new games. also a lot of people have higher refresh rates.

If you have a 60hz monitor its impossible to benefit from anything higher than 60fps. There are many modern monitors which have a 120hz refresh rate.

thats not true, i notice a clear difference when i play cs go for an example at 60 fps and at 200 fps, its MUCH smoother!!

You are getting confused. It's physically not possible for a 60 Hz monitor to show more than 60 frames a second even if the GPU renders much higher fps. That's why the other games running at higher fps have vsync usually enabled by default.

well i do not really understand fully what you say ( i am no pc nerd) but as far as i see, the higher fps i get in other games, its much smoother to play, i thought the same about TO.

TO isnt that smooth of a game in the first place. I average around 50 fps, but 30 still seems smooth. If you are constantly at 60, you have nothing to complain about. I would assume any differences past that are negligible.

Yes. FPS and refresh rate (Hz) are not the same thing, nor are they linked.

 

FPS is the number of frames per second the software is processing, while Hz is the rate at which the hardware in the monitor is refreshing the display. They are two independent functions, and you will see a difference in animation quality with more FPS. There is a point where the human visual pathways become saturated, which IIRC is somewhere around 70-80fps. After that you can still perceive a difference in quality, but to borrow an economic term, you've hit the point of diminishing returns and it's a steep drop-off.

What I am trying to say is that it is not until under 30 fps that gameplay gets effected. My old computer ran an average of like 20 (it was crap), but my new one is good. There isn't much of a need for fps to be greater than 60 in my opinion.

I Know, but for me as a cybersport player, and a guy who likes a good performance, it matters.

Flash player is capped to a maximum of 60fps

 

60fps is the standard for most AAA games, but a lot of games which are big in esports (World of tanks, Overwatch, CS:GO, Team fortress) have a higher or no fps limit, so I can understand your frustration.

Exactly, 60hz monitors cannot display more than 60fps. -_-

Ok forget about the 60hz thing since you are not understanding, lets say i will go buy a 120 hz monitor to end the side argument that got us off the main point.

We come back to the point that Tanki is a Flash game and hence cannot really feel any smoother than it does at 60 FPS. In any case, integrating a higher fps isn't feasible for the devs so I don't think it will happen. Since you've shown and interest in this, I recommend you watch this:

I see! so it's the flash-relation thing that is not allowing the game to run higher than 60FPS, that's a bit unfortunate, tho still one more question, even at 60FPS, some parts during the gameplay is definitely not smooth, its not frames drop, it just feels rough to navigate, that's pretty annoying! 

 

Fun fact: If you google "can flash games run higher than 60 fps" the third search result is this topic. :D
