[Interview] With pieface101!

A strong writer, pieface101 has made himself known on the TO forums AWS with his superb writing skills. He's relatively new to the forums when compared to other, more well-known (more acclaimed) writers. In that sense, he hasn't been interviewed yet, and so I took up the chance to do it myself. Now without further ado, pieface101!

Exe: Alright, thanks for accepting the invitation Pie! Let's start off with the tried-and-true approach of personal information first: Please, enlighten us about yourself! and bank account information

Pie: Hi! I'm pieface101, AKA Pie. I'm currently a 7th Grader living in the United States. I grew up enjoying art and writing, although my parents personally wanted me to pursue mathematics   . Anyways, I continued drawing and doodling throughout Elementary School, and hope to become an artiste when I grow up, although I could be a video game programmer too. That'd be cool. Nowadays, I try to survive middle school, figure girls out, and watch YouTube.

Also, my bank account is nonexistent

Exe: Gotcha, middle school is a pain in the neck to figure out, trust me I'm a survivor.

Since you mentioned writing for me, I may as well skip the filler and go straight to the point of this interview, which, knowing me, is writing of course.

Okay then, let's start from the beginning - when did you start writing, and why?

Pie: When did I start writing?

Hmm... that's a hard question.

I think what really lit the spark was back in 2nd or so grade when a friend suggested the Harry Potter series. I was mesmerized by the character and plot. Back then I was like: that's so cool!

I began to read more fantasy novels like the Percy Jackson series and The Hobbit. Naturally, I wanted to write cool stories too, so I put my doodling skills to use and drew comics. It wasn't 'till 4th grade that I began to actually write stories. School prompts weren't exactly the best, and I HATED informative writing, so I put writing on the back burner and focused on math like my parents told me to, until of course, I discovered the Tanki forums. I read stories by masters such as sonofchrysalis3 and Shedinja, and the spark was renewed. I began doing newspaper contests and whatnot until I quit Tanki about a year ago. When I rejoined, I discovered the AWS, and I've been at it ever since.

:P

Exe: Sounds familiar to me, reading from the masters, comics, ireallyhatemathhmph, and then AWC.  :P

Back on topic, by far, who were your favourite authors? Doesn't really matter if you don't have a definite favourite, lots of people don't, to be honest. Just pick one who stands out a little more than the others.

Pie: It's really hard for me to pick, but if I had to I would have to go with JRR Tolkien. The Lord of the Rings has an amazing plot and the words flow together incredibly smoothly. It's very atmospheric.

Exe: Timeless classic, can't deny that.

I really seem to go off-topic often, must be one of my weak points. Anyhow, we're almost done, onto a style of writing. What does your style really consist of, or rather, what would you like your style to be?

Pie: Well, I love trying new things so I can't really pinpoint an exact style, but I always try to make my writing mean something and just have fun writing it, whether it's satire or serious. I guess you could say I'm a jack of all trades.

However, I do enjoy sprinkling a little humor and such into serious articles and seriousness into humorous articles, so they're usually layered like an onion.

Exe: Alrighty, nearly done with this interview, last question, bear with me.  :P

I can't leave this interview without some interactivity with the readers, I'd be pretty generic otherwise, now wouldn't I? Okay, so pieface, if any of those reading this interview wish to take up writing, what's your advice to them?

Pie: Here is where I am supposed to do the really inspirational message that's probably a quote like "follow your dreams" right? xD   :P

Anyways...

Quality is always better than Quantity (I know, coming from me   ), so if you have writer's block, that's fine! Listen to music, take a walk, idk, whatever makes you happy and gets your mind going. I can't tell you how many stories I've half written before clicking the "cancel" button.

Exe: Actually, that's really good advice. It's not cheesy, for one thing.

Anyhow, thank you for the interview, expect to see it soon!  ;)

Pie: Thanks!

Peace out or something...

Wow, 7th grade? Pieface, you've got a gift. I've never read writing from somebody of that age that was so good. I seriously thought you were at least a Junior in high school. My school really stresses writing, and being a senior, I've read a ton of writing by gifted writers. I'm tellin' you, you have some serious talent. While we don't write stories in school, your writing rivals that of lots of my peers. Hopefully your parents recognize that so you can put it to use.

Good interview too.

Like Jwimmer said, m8, you've got some serious talent. If you haven't already, show some of your writing to your parents. It's too good to be hidden away.

Flabs you forgot the most important question of all.

Is the tweezers high quality, or not?

Everyone knows that the tweezers are low quality. So it was smart of flabby not to ask
