A guide to being a free player

Yes. You absolutely can!

When I began this account, I went with Smoky and Viking as my only combo. Firebird for Poly matches. A good tank it was, but Smoky being Smoky, it became weak against M2 tanks when I hit WO5 .-.

With the beginner's pass, I had around 100,000 crystals by the time I hit WO5 and when I got to 3rd Lieutenant, I made the dumb choice to buy Voltage. It was really good for the first few weeks, but as I hit 1st Lieutenant, stronger kits began to appear. Annihilator, Northerner, Fireworks, Mosquito, Firebolt, Fortress, etc. Dictator is one of the weakest M2s. It's slow, heavy, big and has the least amount of HP out of the three M2 Medium hulls! It was evident I once again needed some more equipment.

During Christmas sales, I ranked up to Captain the day before the turret sales. I had 177,000 crystals roughly if I remember correctly. I had bought the 30,000 crystal package for $4 which pretty much covered for buying Voltage, so if I hadn't of purchased Voltage that's where I would have been. Sadly I got banned from chat during that time.

During the sales I purchased M2 Hornet and M2 Hammer. A decision I have no regrets for! I can finally play xp/bp and I have a new close ranged turret! Bring the Simooms! Bring the Annihilators! Bring the Northerners! Heck, bring back Bulldozer! I still reload faster than M4 Thunder, do around the same damage as Thunder M3 and The self damage will only aid me in killing it! Boy, what power form such a small tank!

Yes, we both would die, but normally the hornet you'd think would die, but not even M4 Thunder can one shot my M2 Hornet!

I love this new combo and I'm glad it's what I'll be using all the way up till Lt General!

Not the best combination, but who says I can't still use my Dictator and be defense on Noise CTF battles?

It all comes down to fair knowledge and strategy! (duh!)

My K/D When I began this account, I worked up to 23.15! But I wasn't getting much out of it! So, it was either high K/D and be poor, or suffer a low K/D and get what buyers get...without buying! So, my K/D when I last checked....1.73. Yeah. Pretty good when I play XP/BP with players who have M3 XP/BP tanks.

After I purchased all I wanted, I had little over 1,000 crystals left. My hammer is 24/50!

Through Captain, I made roughly 62,000 crystals. It takes 58,000 exp to get through Captain so I made more crystals than exp! That's exactly how to get ahead. It is to close the gap between exp earned and crystals earned. For me, I found a way to make it the opposite way already instead of waiting till I'm much higher ranked where it happens naturally!

As of now, I have just about 91,000 crystals. So, I haven't been as lucky with Major as I was with Captain. I just had premium for 3 hours from doing missions and caught a gold box! So, in those three hours I made a good 6,000 crystals! :D

How did I earn over 400,000 crystals altogether now? Nearly a 1:1 ratio for exp and crystals earned? It's simple! I play with the highest ranked people I can! Where getting more crystals than exp happens naturally, I'm fully willing to let my once pro K/D dip down to however much lower it will go! Call me a noob, soon we'll all have M4s and I won't be weaker and my K/D...might go up again!

So, I have 91,000 crystals right now...but I'm expecting to have anywhere from 450,000 - 525,000 crystals by the time I'm Lieutenant General.

IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Pfft, I'm breaking all reality of Tanki and going through non buying! (yeah I spent $6 big deal)

Let me add up some low estimations here:

I'm expecting 50,000 from doing daily missions, I'm getting 89,000 from rankups alone, and 28,000 from weekly crystal rewards since I'm planning on being Lt General in three an a half months. That means 2,000 each week and I got 2,150 last week! Also, let's say I become a nub at getting golds and only catch 10 within that time, so 10,000 more crystals. Now add all that up with the crystals I have, you get 268,000 crystals! That's already over half! That means all I will have to make from battles is 257,000 crystals!

Guess what else? I have roughly 428,000 exp. You need 787,000 exp to get to Lt General, so I have 359,000 exp left to go! And as I said earlier, I make more crystals than exp! Not in every battle but quite a lot! Top or bottom of the  leader board, winning or losing team I get more than the average 1 crystal for every 2 exp ratio! And even then, 179,500 crystals being half the needed 359,000 exp plus the 268,000 crystal I'm likely to earn I will end up with around 450,000 crystals!

I can't fail!!

When I'm Lt General I'm going to wait for another holiday sale and I'm going to buy 4 M3 items! M3 Railgun, M3 Wasp, M3 Hammer and M3 Viking! Not the kits, I won't have enough for Touche and Jackhammer xD

M3 Wasp, if 40% off again will be 121,860 crystals. M3 Viking will be 122,520. Railgun M3 will be 113,150 and Hammer M3 will be 111,950. Add it all up they'll cost 469,480 crystals! But luckily I've left the 1 cry : 2 exp ratio in the dust so once I get to Marshal when I can actually buy them, I'll have more than enough.

I only mentioned Lt General because I was thinking of product kits since that's the rank to get to now days, but I'll have to work it out until Marshal where 1,000,000 exp is needed so with the way things are going, Tanki is NOT a pay to play game. (If I didn't buy Voltage I wouldn't have needed that $6)

Simply play with higher rankers, develop strategies, try and get crystal rewards in your daily missions, catch a gold once in a while, do missions every day and that's pretty much it! Maybe you'll get lucky enough to get premium missions! So, follow this simple guide line and never have to worry about buying again!

The BEST way to get through Tanki Online is to close that gap between the exp and crystal ratio as early as you can and play as much as you can while you have the beginner's pass!

I hear all the time people saying Tanki is pay to play but it really isn't! I used to think they were stingy with crystals, but knowing I can make so much without buying is mind blowing! I used to look at M3 prices and think "How in the WORLD will I ever be able to afford one of those!?"

Now I'm saying: "Ha! I can get four of them easily!"

I hope this helps anyone who read this and I wish you luck!

-Added a title.

-Corrected grammar.

The fact that you bought crystals, however little, sort of undermines the whole point of the article.

I know, I know. I have noticed even if I hadnt of bought them I'd still have the things I have. If I didnt buy Voltage I would have ended u at the same place without having to buy. I kind of just bought for leisure because I had a few extra bucks in my PayPal. I believe I explained ti in the article.

What do I buy?Supplies?Kits?Crystals?Or something else?

You have a buyer paint, therefore making you a buyer. You have also mentioned before that your Vulcan/Mammoth m1 was microed to M2 before the kit unlock ranks :P

For those who lack skillz. Try red team on noise, sit up on the highest ramp then angle down and shoot them nubs as they come up. Your drugging teammates will finish them off. Maybe you'll get a lucky kill!

I did this with my Hammer and took out a full M4 tank...took about 9999999 shots but I did it! .-.

Well i must say this account is well planned.

The thing is, this is the first account I have created. When I was starting out tanki, I knew right away that in order to have a good combo you needed to focus solely on only one combo. So I then bought all the m0s and tested them out, and I liked mammoth shaft best at the time, so I decided to focus on it. After about 4 years, I still enjoy playing this combo, and I am much better at it than when I was playing with it at m1 and m2 ranks. Oh, and the reason I have so many crystals for my rank is because I only do my missions and then log out everyday, pretty much since daily missions were introduced.
