Patch Update #436 - Clan system and other changes

Something needs to be done about clans that cheat using mults.   This happens in MANY games, especially on the RU servers.

 

I encounter this problem in 10% of all games on the EN servers and 20% of the games on the RU servers:  my team is ahead and suddenly raiders enter on the losing side while as many as five mults join my team.   The mults just sit there and do nothing and my team loses and is cheated out of our battle funds. 

 

The last thing Tanki needs at this point is to encourage more players to join clans.

I think the clan system has the potential to "save" tanki. Only a small percentage of clans used the mult strategy, but they do it alot. However, most other clans don't use mults at all. Clans are good for Tanki, and perhaps the main reason why I still play so often.

Regarding smoky, the latest mod isn't bad, but it makes things worse for the smoky player.

 

The recent changes have mostly made smoky slower, doggier, less fun, and harder to use. The good players, like runners on the beach, learn how to maximize their path. This change is like moving the runner from the beach, where some of the time there is firm sand, to a muddy field, where mud on the feet is as much a problem as the mushy ground.

 

Smoky simply isn't as fun as it was. It is more of a flat-footed boxer with a strong hook. Not as fun as the nimble, fast, boxer who can occasionally land that devastating blow. So, smoky players can't complain much, but the difference is noticeable, and it is harder and less fun.

 

Smoky with lower per hit, higher fire rate, and significantly more turn acceleration would be something like the old one again.

 

I don't understand why modifications keep diminishing the distinctions of the turrets.

 

BTW, this is from playing nearly an hour on my M2 smoky on M2 hunter. (NobodyUKnow70) Dedicated account. Smoky-hunter only.

 

Again, the change isn't a lot, but it is in the same bad direction that the last few changes have pushed it.

 

Smoky without the assault ammo alteration is pretty much an unfun, useless waste of time. With the alteration, it is still good, but not as much fun, and not near as much fun as it used to be.

I don't understand how the new changes on smoky are that bad.

You are too low in the ranks to face MUed Gizmos and Legends. Against them, Smoky is badly nerfed. I have better success using Shaft and its upgraded "arcade" shot than the current Smoky ( I call it "Pocky" because you hear a BOOM and everybody else hears a racquetball sound!)... :D

you will find out in about three ranks unless they power it back up over the backlash...

Last night, shortly after implementation, I played for almost an hour with my dedicated Ricochet account, Ricosck, and other than a little glitchy and choppy graphics, I didn't notice anything different in my rico play. Other players complained and whined about me, but no more than normal.

 

Later, of course, graphics got worse. Eventually the game was unplayable. Client wouldn't refresh, and browser was acting badly too. Entering game had one or two FPS, then refreshed. That fixed FPS, but was still some choppy/jerky. Had to refresh twice more because of freezing up completely. Then gave up and went to bed.

Think they are staying up nights to fix this? If it's like the last screwy update, we will suffer for 2 or 3 weeks before they admit they FUBARed.

So now, we have to click no when we are in battle and visit the lobby to see the settings of the battle. Before, we had to click yes. I left a battle because of that and lost my score... And it is not possible now to go to the lobby while in the battle and see the settings of the battle... Omg...

 

Yes or no, we don't really care. But plz, but back again one choice in green and the other in red.

Pshhhh, try 26-4. Or maybe a joint clan license for FA and SSS. Make it a dream team.

Theres probably a limit on the number a clan can hold. 12 was brought up somewhere. I hope its much larger.

I'm posting this here since every time I post in P&S, a mod tells me to make my topic here...

 

Anyway, now, we can't visit the lobby while we are playing! Sometimes, I join battles so fast, I don't know the settings. So, I can't check if there are alterations or not, equipment change, or MU...

 

Bring this back... It was a nice feature, why remove it...

Thats way to less... Im sure it wont be that small... And there'll probs be a way of increasing the capacity. Hopefully it works out well.

A top/rating system for clans will be interesting. Also "clan missions" is a nice ideea.

They can do a lot of things with this clan system .. I hope they will develop more cool things .. 

And open that damn license because more than 30 TOR's are waiting me to open the clan :lol:

I was doubtful, but I'm pretty sure one of the first times they mentioned the system, they said a max of 10. I'm hoping for around 15-20 to be allowed in. Considering SSS has like 30ish members, we will have to choose from a large pool anyways.

Another note on ricochet:

Ricosck is my dedicated rico account. I am still fighting with a fully MUd Boar Kit. I had one of the parms on the turret and hull at 100% when they switched the MU system. I'm used to it being one of the best tanks on the map, at first, it always was.

 

So, after an hour yesterday after the reset without knowing ricochet was beefed, I never noticed; now, with 1.5 hours of play today, I have to say the change is hard to notice. It seemed there was a very slight slowdown in the firing rate. The wiki says it is 0.547 second between shots now. Was it slightly less time before? I can't check.

 

Overall, this change seems trivial, but it was in the wrong direction if any change was needed at all. Ricos are rather powerful in the game. I cannot see how the change was justified.

10-12 would work... But if their doing it based on Clans. Their should definitely be more.

 

Probably. But what is best for Tanki? 50 clans of 20 members, or 100 clans of 10 members?

 

100 clans = more money.

Clans with 10-12 members strike me as absolutely useless except to a small minority of players. Say for instance a group of RL friends that have similar schedules and play at the same time in the normal course of events.

 

For a global 24 game, a dozen clan members means a any given time only 1-3 will be playing.  Let the epic battles begin.

 

And this is going to end mults and cheaters ... how?

 

Right now I couldn't care less about these clans.  What I do care about is hearing Tanki tell us what they are doing to reduce lag and connectivity problems.

I'm ignorant about what your plans are for Clans. But I think some of the outlines should be:

 

Block members of a Clan from joining both teams in a battle, unless allowed by another opposing Clan.

 

Removing a Clan member should not be immediate, I suggest 24 hours of wait, unless they pay a Speed Up of good amount.

 

That's about it for now.

 

 

PS. My perspective is from a player that is not planning in buying a Clan license, and maybe not join a Clan. Yes, don't make us the punching bags of buyers with small hands and small feet. (Not all buyers ;) )

If your clan wants to open topic, sure with 30 members. But if you guys are wanting to play Blitz or other tournaments only 14 of you can enter. And for Domination series, if you were to let everyone the equal amount and u happen to come second place which I doubt none of you would get gladiator so having a clan of 30 is pretty much useless in a competitive spirt. This will also mean that you must select your best x amount of players for a tournament.

 

However if it's just for fun, it's good to be with your friends!
