Low Framerate

Recommended Posts

For the last few days, my average frame rate has dropped from around 40-50 fps on large maps (60 fps on small maps) to around 20 fps on large maps, and 30 on small maps (notably sandbox). This happens to me periodically, but I can simply run Ccleaner and the fps jumps back up to normal. However, I have run Ccleaner this time, and it hasn't helped. My question is- is this a result of the other lag/glitches occurring with the clan system, or is there something I can do to fix it? Sandbox XP/BP has become more frustrating than fun with the lag. Also there is lots of server lag- way more than normal.

Try using standalone flash or the client to alleviate most of the FPS lag. For the server lag, check if other people are using the network.

Also, you might want to take a look at the server you are playing on.

I hope this helps...

I already use the client. I was on EN2 and RU1, which were both just under full at the time. However, I normally can play on both of those servers at the same load and get 50+ fps. I'm really thinking it has to do with the clan update. There weren't any heavy programs running on my computer at the time either- just Spotify for music and Skype.

The TO Client seems to be the nicest atm with the issues with server stability. I opened a thread due to the BIG impact after the recent patch update - Since it was resolved by a later fix, I had it closed. But some people are still having issues.

Unfortunately, the servers are under high usage, and even if you go to Lets say EN 4 it may actually be on the same server. Even if they use something like a VPS (Virtual Private Server) Gaming server (special specifications) they most likely aren't going to use a different physical one for each server. Its long and too technical to explain but to better make you understand most websites - including in some occurances games, are on shared hosting, shared hosting is where you share the same server with other hostee's (those also hosting on that specific server) - making the hosting a little cheaper, less servers, less maintaince - cheaper rates.

Even if they went with thier own servers (like at a physical location) - it would still may depend even then how they set them up.

I also wonder if other versions are on these same servers, and this is all in theory, but I think that they use the same physical servers for a X amount of individual servers.

They could go into a 24-48 hour maintaince and merge us into a new server with better specifications but that won't gurantee that there isn't bugs causing the lag. Sometimes it occurs in code which can only be solved by the developers themselves.

Server quality, and quantity is a important part of a effective gaming server experience.

If they don't have enough physical specs to support a certain amount of Virtual servers on the server itself, then it may cause the issues.

What I am saying is that the servers such as EN 1 may not be a physical server. It could be on the same server as EN 2, 3 and 4 Idk.

Of course the devs care, because in the future after this game ends, they will need to have something that will give them a good paying job. Its a very competitive market for Game programming. So - obvisously they care. Because unlike other jobs, this kind of work can make a impact in the future, by quality of work.

Furthermore, the spenders are on the same servers as nonspenders, they do not label anyone, we are all their players.

Your browser can impact your FPS:

Chrome - Max I think I have gotten is 35

Opera - 10 or less max of 15

Firefox - up to 30

TO Client - up to 80*

Stand alone flash - Anywhere between 10-30

*80 is possible by disabling the adaptive FPS, which I disabled to fix lag. I haven't actually had a steady 80 fps, making it clear, it was very brief. Usually max you will get is around 60 (and is the max with adaptive enabled)

I would love to see a screenshot of that.

@ @Jwimmer, could you try using Standalone Flash Player to see if your FPS there is what it should be?

If you read the "*" you will see it has only happen a handfull of times and is so brief - doesnt stick for long. Since it really is only suppose to go to 60 it drops back down. Might be a bug since fixed hasnt happen in awhile

I will try that tomorrow. The framerate hasn't been as bad today- averaging around 45 on Sandbox. Still not where I would like it to be to play well.
