Unseen players still count as kill points?

I've seen this happen a number of times:

Play mode is non-consequential. Four man teams. Opposing team leaps ahead with no hope of your team recovering.

I get the strange feeling that everyone on my team has abandoned me. When I look at the team lineup, one is gone, but the other two  names are still there (the same names as when we started), but the tanks are somewhere in cyberspace, no where to be seen as ghosts or otherwise. I try to keep things going as best I can, hoping they will return, but they never do. I leave the battle.

Where did my team mates go? They were there, now they aren't.

If the tanks aren't visibly there, does the other team keep racking up viable points?

I've watched the points from the lobby. The game eventually ends with the opposing team having made a lot of extra points and the 2 cybertanks making no more than what they had. There have been times I've gone back into battle to look around and the 2 tanks still aren't there.

How can a cybertank remain in battle?

Mults. I honestly haven't encountered a whole lot of mults in smaller battles, but have definitely seen them in larger battles. I always call them out. If they aren't mults, they get mad and leave or start playing better. If they are mults, they sometimes (and I mean sometimes) leave. If you get a series of screenshots showing their inactivity over a period of about 5 minutes, you can upload them to the forum and there is a chance they will get banned. However, other than calling them out, there isn't much else you can do in real time.

This happens because tanki has a hidden feature that kicks into effect when a player is disconnected from a battle in any manner other that normal battle termination (pressing the exit button in game). This feature allows retention of a player's name against the battle slot for a fixed amount of time (I'm not sure how long, but not more that 5mins). The purpose of this is to prevent people who accidentally leave from losing their score/rewards. They can log back in to that battle within the given timeframe to continue playing or get kicked out (slot freed) after some time.

A lot of the time, it's connection issues that cause this kind of imbalance. Other times, it's mults. Tanki will not take any action to work around the problems this feature is creating. There are many ideas in the I&S section dealing with this (including almost all of mine) waiting to be reviewed and rejected.

Like when a tank isn't respawning.

I've wondered about that, too. So, it's like if the game freezes up or begins to lag really bad, I reload the tab. During that time, my tank is no longer visible but my name still appears on the list. Right?

But, say, I die and immediately hit pause to go to the garage before I begin to respawn. When I come back into the game, the game shows where I died with the pause enabled and the timer. I hit pause again and I'm taken to my respawn point. While I'm in the garage, am I a ghost or just a name on the list?

Your name will not be seen on the score tab within the battle. From the lobby, your name will still be in the list. The same would happen if you close the browser or client without leaving the battle first.

In this case your name will be visible from within the battle, but no one will be able to see your tank.
