How to Get Lots and Lots of Crystals

How Can I Get Lots and Lots of Crystals?

You'll see that question in the chat window at least once a night. Someone has run their in-game bank account dry, they need better gear and they're looking for shortcuts to making lots and lots of money in Tanki terms (i.e. crystals). Well, the only real shortcut is to buy crystals. If you do this, you will make the Tanki developers and other employees happy, but some people can't afford that, and others don't want the scorn that many players will heap on them. Being called a "Buyer!" is even worse than being called a "Noob!" to some tank drivers.

But there are some principles you can follow to help you earn as many crystals as possible. Here are a few of them:

1. Focus on team games instead of death matches.

In a DM, whoever kills another tank gets 10 XP's, and whoever has the most XP's at the end of the battle gets the most crystals from the battle fund. If you blaze away at an enemy in a DM, and then another player steals your kill, you get nothing. In team games, on the other hand, a kill is worth 15 XP's, and those XP's are divided according to who did the most damage. If you blaze away at an enemy in a TDM or CTF, and then another player steals your kill, you'll get 12 or 13 of the XP's and the other player will get 2 or 3.  This means you'll get more crystals at the end, compared to what you'd get for the same amount of time and effort in a death match.

2. Focus on big games instead of small games.

The battle fund goes up every time a tank blows up. Obviously, there are more tanks blowing up when 24 tanks are shooting each other than when just 2 tanks are shooting at each other. Your share of a big battle fund will always be larger than your share of a small battle fund, no matter what else happens. So try to join battles with many teammates and many opponents. Also be aware that a large battle has a higher chance of having a gold box fall.

3. Finish your daily missions, every day.

The daily missions aren't that difficult; most of them can be finished off in less than an hour, especially if you can work on more than one in the same battle (like "Destroy enemies" and "Collect Repair Kit boxes"). The reward will be either supplies or crystals, and crystals is what you want. Don't hesitate to change a mission if none of your daily missions offers you crystals, but don't spend more on the changes than you'll earn from the mission! Also, be sure you finish at least one mission every day so you can finish the Daily Mission Chain every seven days. The payout here is pretty good, you can earn it once a week, and it comes with supplies as well.

4. Rank up!

You get a nice crystal bonus when you advance in ranks. Maybe you're not in a hurry to gain ranks for some reason, but keep working toward that goal anyway, because the reward is a nice chunk of change in your Tanki bank account.

5. Be smart about Gold Boxes.

You can make quite a bit of money when Gold Boxes fall from the sky; the first tank to touch them gets 1000 crystals (sometimes more during special holiday events). To catch the boxes reliably, you'll need luck and you'll need to develop some skills, but you can improve your chances by using the right hull. The best hulls for Gold Box hunting are Dictator (it's the tallest, so it can touch the falling box first) and Titan (it's the strongest, so you can push other tanks off the drop point).

6. Don't waste the money you've got.

Earning all the crystals in Tanki won't do you any good if you spend them all on stuff you never use. If you buy one of everything, you'll quickly run out of money and you won't be able to afford the stuff you really want. You ought to have two good turrets (one short-range and one medium or long range), one or two good hulls (one fast one is enough; your second hull, if you get one, should be a medium or heavy hull), and one or two good protection packages. If you use a weapon that can damage you as well as your enemies, you definitely need protection against your own weapon! One paint is all you need, seeing how paints have very little impact on game play. As for micro-upgrades, if you aren't using M3 gear, then get the first MU (it's only ten crystals) and stop there.  The more MU's you buy, the more they cost, and the less return you get on your investment.

7. Use Isida.

If you want to earn as many XP's as possible, and thereby earn more crystals, the Isida is the most effective point-earning machine out there. You can earn points by healing your friends as well as by killing your enemies, and also earn the gratitude of your teammates. I once topped the scoreboard with my Isida even though I scored no kills all game long, and other Isida players can probably tell similar stories. The downside is that you won't score as many kills as you might with other turrets, and your D/L ratio will go down. If that's not something that you worry about, then heal away!

8. Buy a kit.

Kits are great values; you save a big chunk of money compared to the items' usual price, you get stuff that isn't normally available at your rank, and you usually get a bunch of free supplies along with the war gear that you bought. It takes a long time to save up for most kits, but once you've got it, you won't have to spend anything else for quite a while, so you can save your crystals for later.

9. Avoid distractions.

This one can be the hardest of all. If you're saving for your next big upgrade, and the game offers you a new hull at your own rank for 40% off, it can be very tempting to try it. Don't do it! You'll ruin your savings and your hopes for an upgrade. Decide what you want to buy, and then stick with your plan until it's done, or until you realize that you don't really want that stuff after all.

So there you have them, Cke1st's rules guidelines for saving up crystals in a hurry. Do they work? I've never run out of money, so there must be something good about them. How about you? What are your secrets for maxing out your income?

- Some grammar: please note that there needs to be only one space after a sentence ends, not two.

Nice article, really good for people like me, who easily fall prey to temptation  Moreover, I do suggest you to use different fonts and sizes, even colors to attract more viewers. It not only looks professional, but also makes it easier to understand what the author is saying.

Nice article.

Though I wouldn't use this advice however. I've come to realise that planning for the long run in Tanki is eventually much more beneficial than simply going in all guns blazing.

However, this will be very helpful for a beginner. Well done!

Nice, Though my profile says that i have earned 5-6k less crystals than experience. How to earn less experience but more crystals? Please write on this also!

Your Crystals/Experience ratio will eventually become 1:1, because battle funds get higher the more you rank up.

But, the ultimate way to creating a low account with a great supply of crystals involves only logging on to your account to complete missions. Don't play any battles if you can help it.

You'll find yourself bathing in crystals at very low ranks, like on my account (I have 110k).

3. Finish your daily missions, every day (at least one).

=> then complete your Weekly chain, this is easy Crustal for 30 minutes play per day.

Choose your battle don't join a losing side, only if it will make you complete a daily mission.

Learn the mechanism of each battle mode.

Do the Newspaper contest every month.

Good one. I have fallen temptation to number 9 too. I was saving for m2 hornet preparing for christmas sales, and had about 40k. Then m1 hammer was off at a discount and I was thinking about converting my primary to hammer. I still managed to recover from the mistake, and scraped together enough crystals to buy m2 hornet during the sales, but if not for my silly mistake, i could've afforded a full m2 combo, probably freeze and hornet

I can't agree with number 2.

1. Just because the fund grows more in bigger maps doesn't mean you'll get allot of it,the bigger the map the more players get part of the fund.

2. In big maps it's harder to kill other tanks not to mention the short range turrets.

The best way to make fast crystals is playing with friends wasp fire battles.

1) Look at it this way. When you lose a 1v1 you get barely any crystals for your score, whereas on a larger map you get a much larger sum of crystals for the equivalent score (even as a loser). Playing on larger maps is a much better option than simply playing in maps like Sandbox.

2) Solution = use a medium - long range turret. I personally think ever player should practice with both short and long range turrets, so he/she is better equipped and a more versatile player. Hammer is a good example of a close-range turret that isn't limited to small maps. I frequently finish 1st in large map Deathmatches when using Hammer.

3) Fire/Wasp doesn't make you into a good player. You'll learn relatively nothing by continuously firewasping from Recruit to Legend. Also, it's extremely boring.

Easiest way.

Become a buyer.

Stealing daddies credit card PIN is also very effective in increasing your crystal gains.

Not everyone has the means to buy into the game (parental restrictions, preference to spending money elsewhere).

Not at all :D

I was just feeling in a not-so-savage serious mood when I wrote that message.

Not completely true. While you do normally get more crystals in large games, it is not because there are more tanks being killed. While there is a higher fund, it is bigger in equal proportions to the increase in members of the battle. This means the larger fund is distributed to more people, making it about even. In reality, the reason you earn more crystals is because more people leave. If they build up, say 100 crystals to the fund, then leave, those crystals are essentially free to all members that stay till the end. When lots of people are doing this, there are lots of "free" crystals, earning people more.

Also, if I may add:

For you lower and middle rankers, try to play less and really only play when you have Daily Missions and when you get these, switch out the supply ones for crystals if you can. The other night I got a nission for 2,300 crystals if I got 1,000 exp in CTF matches. That's 1,000 exp for more than TWICE the crystals and in this game, the rtealy key to getting ahead is bridging the gap between your gained exp and crystals.

For most of your career you will be getting more exp than crystals, but the higher ranked a player is, the more crystals are added to the fund. 9.9 crystals per Legend and like 1.2 per recruit if I remember correctly. I know it's 9.9 per Legend, though. So, if you play with the absolute highest players you can and you end up on the winning team, even if you do bad or good, you'll get more crystals than making your own battles where you make your rank the highest possible.

Although, if you don't mind being called a noob, your K/D will suffer majorly. It will go DOWN. You'll be facing 50/50 MU buyer kits sometimes. The first 50/50 I came across was Raiden kit user on Noise. Luckily he was on Blue team!

Now, if you only play for your missions, you're actually making the biggest increase in crystal earnings. If you do missions EVERYDAY, your weekly rewards will become high. I got 2,300 crystals last Wednesday. Tomorrow I'm expecting 2,400. Not a big increase but still a big reward for doing a mission...say getting 5 double armor boxes. You only need to finish ONE mission on your 7th day to get your rewards. You only have to do one a day every day, but doing three will earn you more. So, for 0 earned exp, grab a friend and get those boxes! Maybe that mission in itself gives you....575 crystals? That'd be 2,975 crystals...just for getting BOXES.

Also, if you don't want to worry about druggers hitting the 1 key when you're close to killing them, just join non supply battles and non micro upgrade battles and no drop box battles! Xp/bp is fun, Poly CP is intense and Noise CTF rewards the most crystals of them from what I have seen.

Finally, be patient! Wait for major sales to buy the things you want, so you make more crystals than everyone else and get the high grade equipment buyers get without spending a PENNY!

Also, if I may add:

Don't play battles with Generalissimos and above using M2 equipment. You'll get considered as a mult, reported and then potentially banned.

There's also a fine line concerning ranks to battle with. You'll get more crystals if you (as a Lieutenant Colonel) come first versus Warrant Officer 4s than if you came last versus Legends.

Also, what you just wrote had actually already been stated (more than once) by numerous other people :P ;)

Not my problem. I'll just contact tech support. They shouldn't allow Lt Colonels to play with Legends and such if it's going to be an issue ;)

Hmm. Still getting over 0.5 crystals even on losing team against Legends proves to be better, but I make sure I'm on the winning team, then I get very slightly over 1.0.

I just assumed it wasn't mentioned and decided to write anyways so I'd know it's here....plus in this world, many people are very illiterate. Maybe they'd like to see things written in such a way that they can actually comprehend.

1) Well, there goes your karma. But really, I wouldn't advise Lieutenant Colonels to play in regular Legend battles. I reckon the only reason Legends can play ranks as low as Lieutenant Colonel is because it was designed with XP/BP in mind.

2) It actually will not. M2s get extremely low scores versus M3s, especially as you're using M2 Hornet (weakest M2 hull in the game in my opinion) or M2 Dictator (3 shot by M3 Thunder). You're not going to survive long enough to have any lasting effect on the enemy. My advise = go win games at your rank level and reap the rewards.

If you feel like continuing, please PM me :)
