Railgun

M2: 5.95 - 9.49 damage per second

Thunder

M1: 6.97 - 11.72 damage per second

When it comes down to damage over time, Thunder wins.

Thanks. Did you get that info from anywhere? If so could you give me link.

You can get that info straight out of the game for any weapon. Take shots/min and divide that number by 60. Then multiply that number by the minimum and maximum amount of damage each shot does and you will get the minimum and maximum damage per second.

yes. Also, railguns don't lose damage over distance like thunders do. Past 100 yards, thunders are basically useless (25% original damage), so it really depends on what you're doing. Plus, if you have an m1 thunder, I just shoot you with my railgun as you come around the corner and then ram you. if you shoot me twice, you suicide and I don't die.

The thunder is better that the railgun on paper, but then again, the m2 railgun does more dps/dpm than m3 twins do... and god knows m2 railguns won't get 2 shots off unless they have something better than an m2 viking.

M3 Smoky feels like it has more recoil than Thunder because it shoots faster. M3 Twins has actually small recoil but because it shoots 3 shots per second it makes you feel that the recoil is large. M3 Railgun's recoil is the largest because it has massive damage per shot and it is long-ranged. But then again, M3 Railgun loses about 30% of it's damage done at point blank and M3 Thunder loses about 40%. So M3 Railgun would be better for sniping but M3 Thunder is better for mid-range combat.

I think rail gun is better because the thunder dosen't have as much distance and u can kill yourself in close range combat.

In close-range combat M3 Railgun won't live to make a second shot.

That depends what tank the railgun m3 is on

Viking + Freeze can own Railguns because they get frozen and can't get away. You can still live if you drug of course . I found that most Railguns have a lot of drugs. They tend to make the "one shot one kill" thing :|

When it comes to sustainable fire and damage over time thunder wins, but you also have to factor in thunders requirement to stay in LOS (line of sight) shooting at the enemy which also equals a bit more damage to your unit.

So I guess at the point you are discussing M2 Thunder and M3 rail are a matter of preference. At M3 though, which is really comparing apples to apples, Thunder is just a better gun.

One other thing of note is gun resistant paints. Prodigi, which offers the highest resistance against both guns, maxes out rail damage resistance at 30% and Thunder damage resistance at 25%.

Paints consistently favor the Thunder gun in battle over rail because they consistently offer up less protection on Thunder.

I find eesydo one of the best members of the CC postswise, contentwise and in almost all ways. I found it was a loss to the CC when he left, mainly because he always was in depth on his subjects and had a valuable point. So don't criticise because of boringness, other people value so-called boring posts because it suits them. It might not suit you, but no need to insult eessydo for it, just ignore him, other people (like me) enjoy his style as it is so different (and so much better) than the short-post-don't-insult-people-even-if-what-their-saying-is-drivel style that so many others use.
