On second thought, only the SPACEBAR should make the barrel go all the way back, and once the camera changes from front to back, then you can control the turret as if it was normal. And the C could be used to return the barrel to normal.

The barrel is too long, make it more like Thunder.

And because sometimes I forget if I was going forward or backwards, this:

Allow the new turret to turn 180 degree, It would be better. We cant turn it horizontally to aim backwards but we can vertically.

Get it?

Seriously though, why there are suggestions to make Artillery turret turn both horizontally and vertically? A mere thought there will be no way to turn the turret is that uncomfortable?

In this case you need to picture this:

Imagine that you have to move your tank, turn your turret, keep barrel elevation and release space bar at certain time to get desired shot power, all at the same time. While there are no auto-aiming and no indicators where the shot will go.

What you could do, is to have those two modes:

Arty mode (after spawn)

use X and Y to set the up/down angle of the turret

press C to change mode at any time

CloseUp-Mode

If this mode is active, the turrets automatically comes down to +3degrees above horizontal. Now you can not change the elevation any more.

By using X and Y you rotate the turret like all others today, while the elevation is fixed to +3 degrees in this mode.

press C to change mode at any time

By this the artillery would become more usefull in some situations, while you keep the pure up/down aim for the arty mode.

Most of the players can't handle Striker properly due to just a few complications in turret behavior. Rockets goes in straight line but slight off center and with noticable acceleration. That is more than enough to make it almost impossible to be effectively used by most of the players out there.

How do you expect to control Artillery, while it is even more complicated to land a shot? Shots are always fly in arc, they never get to the target quick enough, you have to keep an eye on elevation and power indicators and if your enemy shoot at you your aim will go off instantly. And again — no indication where your shots will go, only elevation and power. You will have to calculate each shot! Every time!

Your suggestions to add horizontal controls for turret will only get you confused beyond playable condition in real combat scenario.

then we should at least see the arc for aiming before shootng

am I the only one, that thinks that the Arty looks waaaaay better if the turret has a set-back?

I know that the turret mounting position on the hulls is fixed; but the turret itself could have the pivot point set forward inside it's 3d model, so the turret would apear to be mounted more backwards. Looks much cooler.

I just noticed that it's the first turret with a visible 3D projectile that can be seen flying through the air

(and it flies very slow, but that's fine)

I wonder if they will leave a trace in the air, to spot arty's easier, like tha Shaft got it's laser and the Rail it's distrubed air/plasma trace

It's about the turret postion.

In the artwork you have for each hull you have two pic's, which feature different turret positions on the hulls.

The upper pic is always the original, while the lower pic has the turret set backwards.

Looks way cooler - even on Titan.

So why is the explosion of the artillery so small?

It's the test version, they're probably just using the Smoky animation, wait until its out.
