Forum not letting me sign in due to "security code"

This problem is truly rage worthy. So have you ever tried to log into something, and you try logging in, but it doesn't work, and you check your password and realize you were 1 character off?? Well this time, i knew i put in the right password and the right username AND the right security code but noooo, "your security code is wrong" said the forum. Then i tried again and again each time putting the right security code but never getting it right, until i spam clicked the "change code" button, and then tried, at which point it let me in. But, at that point, i was sweating and swearing at the screen. It would be helpful if this didn't happen again, because it has been 5 times and counting.

It is to prevent auto bots. I see it pointless really. Maybe they can remove it - and only show it after X amount of failed attempts.

I wish they had used the old ones, like the pictures of house numbers instead of these trippy 6-number codes. These ones are easy, but they don't work
