Penalise team-kill in friendly fire mode like self-destruct

Recommended Posts

Like in WOT, you should be banned automatically, that will save lost of pain staking procedure.

Why banned? I know the sabotage is strictly forbidden, however I've been one of the players who at least once, have damaged (no killed) a team-mate carelessly. I think perhaps someday I might kill a team-mate as well, and basically it's not my guilt and all other players in such cases shouldn't be banned.

You'll see it will make life easier for everybody. Obviously it has to be done to separate mistake from real sabotage.

Going to be difficult with all the new turret with splash damage.

The difference whether the kill was a mistake or sabotage is notable in most of cases. So, the life for battle mods wouldn't be very hard like it seems.

And from my perspective, it wouldn't avoid this problem, because obviously players will still be able to join already created battles with Friendly Fire on.

Really, I don't know why this pointless feature was added.

Sorry, this is simply not true for XP/BP.

there are situations where I can

- either shoot my teammate to take down the enemy flagrunner

- or I spare my teammate and the enemy flagrunner caps the flag

- and there is no other option in this particular situation

You will see this once you played more XP/BP and become a Legend (my account here is an alt, I already have a Legend ranked one).

Killing teammates is one example of sabotage, but every xp/bp player would agree that it's ok for him and the team, if you accidently or intentionally shoot him, in order to take down an enemy flagrunner with that shot too (if you can return of course)

Read it again:

2.1.5. Sabotage — Any acts or omissions aimed at creating obstructions for the team where the User is a member, including in CTF, TDM and CP modes, fighting against the team of which you are a member (intentional selection of weak equipment, frequent pauses, inactivity or intentional failure to comply with map’s or game mode’s requirements, imitation of issues with internet connection), damaging/destroying an ally’s tank, fighting in the interest of the opponent’s team (conspiracy);

And it should say in the title "Penalize"

Mafioso wrote this word, to make my suggested title more meaningful, but both spellings are possible.

Then what's the point of friendly-fire at all then? I completely disagree.

Hold your horses here. We are talking about system/best way to prevent people from abusing the friendly fire option. Don't make unnecessary comment on the obvious e.g. normal play and incidental kills.

Read it again:

you can quote whatever you like, but imagine that:

1) I shot through you because there was on other way to save the flag 3 times in a rather long game.

2) Same scenario as above, but in order to spare you I let the enemy cap. Three times. And we loose.

IMHO the second one is sabotage, while the first one is a positive game changer; because sabotage orients more on the team value then on individual actions. I could also report you for sabotage because you blocked the saving shot.

I could even kill you and report you later on :p

That would actually be funny, because the EULA contradicts it self in this topic (beeing a benefit to your team -vs- not killing team members).

Anyways the discussion is fruitless for both of us, as you seem to never have been in such situations; and because an EULA change on that topic is rather unlikely.

Simply just disable friendly-fire. If you wish to keep it enabled, it's at your own risk of having mults join.

When you kill your teammate while he/she carries the flag, you should get a big penalty. Like -50 XP. Otherwise I think self-destruct penalty is enough when you accidentally kill someone (-5 XP).

I'll never join a FF allowed battle on purpose though even if the devs implement these changes. There are always players who don't care about their team. Better stay away.

As most of us know, in some pro-battles people turn on the friendly-fire setting, which allows players to harm their own teammates. I've played in those types of battles, and they suck! Players from my own team troll each other and there is no drawback, except for not gaining experience, but you don't lose anything. Team games were meant for teamwork, not harassment. If you implement this, people would be less likely to purposely kill their own teammates.

You are probably wondering what would happen if you just ranked up and you kill your own teammate and your expo drops below the rank up level. In that case, they would keep the rank and their experience would still go down.

The same could be done with points in a battle.

please consider, that your proposal leaves the crystal counter untouched, while the exp+Rank goes down _at_will_.

This would enable players to stay in low ranks on purpose and harvest crystals after crystals.

The link between crystal gain and experience gain (crystal-to-xp-ratio) is very important.. and if you want to harm someone, you should consider to reduce his crystals, instead of taking away xp.

Tanki removed this mode >a year ago for a good reason, every game played with this option makes people kill their team more than enemies. I dont understand why they brought it back, but it should be removed again.

Topic merged

( I know you talk about removal, while I merge you into a topic for penalization of teamkills.. but as we don't accept ideas to bring back a former status of the game, that's your chance to go for)

TBH, I actually love the FF mode when used properly. I did a 2v2 XD with it one, and FF killed peeps about 3 times. They didn't even know it was on lol, scratching their heads as to how it happened. But I believe it introduces a lot of skill into the game when used right.

And yes, I joined a Polygon cup with FF once. Scarred for life.

This may be crazy...

What if you gain double the EXP when you hit or kill your team mates but lose double the Crystals of what you'd have gained if you hit or killed an enemy?

For that to work every FF battle will require a good amount of crystal deposit. Of the system could just take the crystals out of your account.

And there should be two types of EXP, one the overall EXP that is making you rank up and a battle EXP that will determine your reward.

(I hate when my ideas expands longer than planed...) :( :)

The ranking up EXP will count double when you hit or kill your team mates, but the battle EXP will not count it.

I had this EXP idea for sometime, that is because I would like for Premium accounts to not count for battle reward, but maybe I'm asking too much.

I know that more xp for less crystals are bad. You know it, many know it.

But far more don't know that.. and they will start to abuse that in order to rank faster (you might remember how well the score multiplier passes sold..).

but you can skip the additional XP if you increase the crystal penalty even more :p

Therefore, no one would want to play in a battle that will take your crystals away. I believe FF should stay as it is.
