Remove TDM mode missions

Why? Well, nobody really plays TDM anymore. In fact, out of a long list of battles on my server, there's only one TDM game going on. This means the missions sits uncompleted until the next set of missions come and it remains, taking up a spot for a new mission. Not really all that great.

 

Please remove these since they're pretty much irrelevant or at least make them of much smaller value. 100 exp for a couple hundred crystals seems fair.

I agree that those missions can be hard and frustrating to complete (even more so if you dislike TDM), but I think the correct way to approach this is to make TDM more fun so that it becomes more popular and TDM missions will be not only easier, but also more fun to complete.

That's hard with Sandbox CTF and Polygon CP. TDM is like the map, Gubakha; forgotten

It's not forgotten, it's just boring as hell. Because you kill enemy tanks in CTF and CP as well, but in the latter you have the interesting mechanics of flags and control points, while killing is only a secondary objective. In TDM all you do is kill and that's not particularly fun. Besides, why would you want to put up with a random team (which may be full of noobs and mults) when you can do the exact same thing in DM, without the issues associated with team games.

I got into one TDM game just a bit ago and it was so laggy!

Remove those missions and game diversity goes down even more.

 

I almost never play DM (Drug Match) spawn-and-die unless I get a mission that pays out Crystals. Or a holiday kill 250 enemies mission. So these missions drive me to diversify a bit, at least.

 

Tanki needs to find a way to bring back Map missions. Then you'd not see TDM as often and you'd probably not be annoyed any more. :)

I agree with Mafioso's observation that TDM is a bit dull. There are no geographic locations the team must try to access, so teams can just hunker down in some corner or whatnot. But I still prefer it over DM where my chances depend on not having an enemy pawn directly behind me 5 seconds after I spawned. But I rarely activly look for a TDM match . . .

I like to play TDM becuase it's a simple gamemode, where I can relax from time to time.

It' truely the least challenging gamemode here (and that's ok IMHO).

 

It's a bit boring as the battles are a bit empty.. but if they fill up it's truely a nice thing to play.

You have to think tactically in order to flank the enemy and deal more damage then you receive. If you just camp then it's truely no fun.. so it really depends on the map (if flanking is possible or not).

 

Tanki could give a 5min guide on effective and fun TDM in a vlog; maybe increase the points per teamkill from 15 to 16 for a 3 weeks time period, and see if that imrooves. It maybe just needs a kickstart - in mind and popularity ;)

Easiest, but also boring and unoriginal. Increasing funds doesn't make the game mode more fun or interesting - it would only make it more popular because players would want the extra crystals. It's like if you were told that you would get $1000 for sitting in an empty room alone for a day. It pays well, but is extremely boring and not enjoyable.

 

TDM needs new mechanics, not higher funds.

I hate doing it, but occasionally I have had to remove TDM missions worth upwards of 3k crystals, because I can't find TDM battles. Its the same as the old Tribute and Skylark missions. Almost always very hard to complete.

I'm not a fan of TDM for 2 reasons: A, everyone whines and complains about how you're a kill stealer, and B, those who aren't whining and complaining about you kill stealing are afk or just plain suck at Tanki.

The problem is that you can't solve these issues. Tanki already autokicks afk players, and they can't filter out noobas who can't rotate their turret 45 degrees to the left to take a pot shot at a Hammer (This may sound simple to us sophisticated players, but noobas find it highly difficult for some strange reason.) Then, with the whiners and complainers, well, they're still playing the game... They're just too busy yelling at you to realize that a Shaft is eyeballing his tasty looking tank (That happens to be me in most TDMs ;) )

 

But anyways... These issues can't be fixed because they're literally out of the domain of Tanki's somewhat long armed reach...

 

Hence, whenever I do get a TDM mission (Which isn't often, because I think the mission system uses some weird tracking program to tell which game modes you play the most and then gives you missions based on that) I tend to be going full forward mode, blitzing around using Hunter/Thunder M1 trying to farm as many kills as possible (Thank you Sandbox for being so small and easy to spawn kill).

 

But, as for CTFs... Well, I become a slightly different player. I'll normally either be found playing flag defense and midfielding and camping in bushes with Shaft (As the achievement for M3 says, sniper in the bush). Sniping is a very fun hobby of mine. Midfielding too, but I think sniping is just that litttle bit higher on my hobbies list in TO....
