Also considering it came in a paid-for package, it would have to be refunded in crystals, which would be sizable, based on what Hazel-Rah has said in the past. He said clans would either be 15 dollars (which was a lie), or 200k+ crystals. If they removed Spangles from my garage and refunded it, I would expect 200k cry.

Seems to me the purchase of any paint is essentially a donation to Tanki. What "value" is reduced?

Tanki would sell more paints if they let the players / marketplace decide which paints are "worth " more. If, 95% of the players think (let's just pick one) Mars is the best-looking paint let that price rise to 500k. If 95% of the player think Mars is uglier than roadkill let its price sink to 500. The current system is ... well its hilarious, One skin costs 1000x times another because ? ? ?

I can imagine that scenario. Devs releasing a survey asking players to rate their favourite paints, and then announcing: "We now have a list of your favourite paints and we're gonna raise their price to 500k so that you have to pay more to get them. Enjoy!"

Well, I'd take 200k for Spangles.

Can't say it's my favorite paint. Watercolour is miles better than most other buyer paints, because it is unique.

 

Another example (like Spangles) is Amber. It looks far too similar to Veteran for my liking.

 

Edit: Domino is worthless from range as it appears much too similar to the standard "Holiday" paint.

Snowflake & Disco are both nice paints, there really isn't one similar to Snowflake, but with Disco, some may view Confetti as a "knock off" of Disco because of its dull appearance and its significantly lower price.

 

Everyone will always have their different opinions, this game is full of diversity, some will be benefited from this change, and some will not benefited from this change if it's implemented. 

 

The newly introduced Steel micro-fibers (Iron Days holiday paint) looks in some ways similar to Microchip (Paint issued to FB mods & social media helpers)

Well, I guess the way it is implemented does matter :)

 

I was thinking a dynamic tracking database that captured the player-hours for every paint. (Eg You and I play for an hour wearing Cedar.. that's two player-hours for Cedar. But 3 players play for 3 hours each wearing Dirty plus a 4th player plays 1 hour. Dirty gets 10 player hours.) At the end of each week the player-hours are sorted. The most popular gets assigned the highest price (500k), and so forth down to last last place at 500 Cr.  ( Or whatever price spectrum is used... does not have to be the same exact levels as now.)

 

The Shop paints can remain exclusive with their real-currency prices set as Tanki sees fit.

 

Unless there is some sort of processing or memory overload to one player having lots of different paints in the Garage there is no downside to this system. I bet Tank would sell a lot more Paints.

Eh, I've never thought of this. But what if they released another bright Yellow paint? Would you also say the same thing?

 

It might look similar but the level of respect for the player would be very different.

I kinda agree with this, because I misspotted a brownish looking paint for Veteran .-. but no, I would not want to replace bought paints with crystals.

- they could change the way the reward paints look like

 

The paints the players bought, were purchased intentionally (because of their looks). Taking them away would be unfair to customers.

On the other hand reward paints were not purchased, they are given for exceptional performance.. and if you change those paints apearance a bit, you sill have the visible reward for your performance; but you stand out much more.

The reason spangles is so bad is because it is not plain bright yellow, it has little "Bits" in it which makes it resemble champion greatly.

If reward paints (any, not those two I mentioned) stand out too less, the symobls on the paint could get more contrast. This would not change the looks nor the colors or effects; but just strengthen them.

Also keep in mind that, aside from grasslands, spangles is the ONLY non-earned paint that is yellow. I think yellow looks great on Tanks, but grasslands is not good on M3 equipment. I think a change to make the champion paint more gold would be the better option, instead of removing and refunding spangles.

This topic is importent only to players with very rare E_contest paints, i don't see why Tanki should bother with this since those players are less than 0.01 of the population at best cases.  :D 

 

we have bigger issues in Tanki, like Mults, and the Drugs system, and heavy buyers who disebalance this game for regular players and buyers.

 

remember that nobody cares about what paint you have, only you do.  -_-

 

conclusion : who cares about your look ? just enjoy playing instead of caring so much about how others see you.  :)
