valid Previous nickname to appear beside the new nickname

It often happens that people don't recognize us after we change our nickname until we tell them. One solution can be that the previous nickname appears next to the new one for about a week.

 

For example, if I changed my nickname from boraSupratik to Supratikbora, it will appear as:

(boraSupratik)

 

After a week, the previous nickname will disappear.

 

This will help immediately help us recognize someone who changed their nickname without having to ask them.

Even if this idea gets rejected, the developers should think for a way that will help us recognize players that changed their nickname. Like showing the previous nick in the forum profile. Well, I don't know if that's reaaaally necessary but it's just an idea that crossed by mind. What do you think?

Probably as an option, since some people like to change their name and "start fresh", without being recognised. But I like the idea. I myself deleted a ton of old friends because they changed names and whenever I see a name in my list which I don't recognise/remember - I delete them

i love this idea but i don't think a week is enough because maybe u don't be online or play the game for a week or more , and it can't be more then that in the game ( Chat or friend list ) so it will be better in forum as & @Adriel.RB suggested and have a disable or enable Option is good for those who wants to start fresh without telling anyone , hope it will be added to the game :)

Adding this on the forum profile would be great and all, but don't forget that this forum has quite limited functionality. We can't even get things like notifications, let alone something like this. Heck, I'm surprised that devs even managed to link up the player's rank and ban status to the forum.

The idea is great! Players are changing their names all the time. So many new, unknown names every single day... it would be great, if we could check their old nicknames. But as many of you said, some people like to be unrecognisable and ''start on fresh, it would be fair to put an enable/disable option. I really hope this gets implemented in the game/forum.

As many of you guys know, with this new update (the name change pass) many people will be changing their names. You will suddenly have many random people in your friends that you don't know who they are.

 

There should be a system to create less confusion in name changes. Maf mentioned this in the feed on the name change pass, and he had an idea to show an arrow, like

Tanklegend523 -- FirebirdDestroyer42 (just for example)

 

I think that the name could be in parentheses or brackets (like clan) after the new name, like

FirebirdDestroyer42 [Tanklegend523]

for a period of time (1 month or something), just so everyone can get used to the name.

Cool idea but the only problem would be that when capturing flags, killing tanks, or catching golds, the loooooonnnnggg name will take up alot of space on the screen which could be a problem. Even if u just cut it off it would not look as clean/polished as it does now.

 

BUT I still support this idea and think maybe the name change idea would just be on the profile, friends list and maybe in clan/public chat.

I don't know how much room is allocated for nicknames. If you changed yours, as you had stated, that would take up 20 spaces in the team line up. I agree that it's something that should go on the profile page.

I suggest a History section in the main profile that will show your previous nicknames, ban history, when you started the account and things like that. There could be an option in the game settings to make History private for a simpler version without showing nicknames and details or no history at all. But those who don't know their History are condemned to repeat it.

I know when you change your nickname, you might keep it mostly the same. I've seen this with my friends, so I still was able to recognize them easily.

 

But what my point here is that if you changed your nickname COMPLETELY, your friends probably won't be able to recognize you.

 

What my idea here is that the next time your friends log in after you change your nickname, they should all get a notification saying that you changed your nickname so that they'll still know who you are.

 

I hope Tanki Online will consider my idea and change it in the game!

I would like a new fresh start IF rename pass comes to garage at least once, at legend rank. Totally new nick, without being recognized. But for those who just change nicks "for fun" it's ok to have option.
