[Declined] in game screenshot

Recommended Posts

This has a few reasons I decided to make it a topic. I was thinking perhaps you could design a button in the game which would screenshot it. Perhaps it could be attached to the keyboard like the pause button and page up page down buttons.

There are two main reasons for this and a third reason of less importance:

1. Chat and game violations: For sure I have seen three times where a user has either insulted and attacked another player by text, worse then just noob or typical insults, going so far as to involve death. As well as team members attacking other members of the same time causin them to lose or self destrutt continouisly.

2. It would increase the ability, and reason, to do the special things you offer during events which require screenshots.

A lesser reason is because some people parkour and do awesoms stuff on their own, but don't video it or have a screenshot thing installed. This would give them a way to screenshot it.

For both reasons one and two, I know that you offer a downloadable app/widget whatever it is, but a lot of people don't download things to their computers, especially from an online game where hackers have been known to end up involved at one point or another.

There is plenty of reliable software that you can install to take quick and easy screenshots. I personally have Greenshot and it instantly saves a screenshot of my screen whenever I press an assigned key. I can also set it to instantly upload to imgur and give me a link, or share it on social media. Point is, it's not worth wasting time developing something basic, when players can already get the same thing (but more advanced and with extra options) for free elsewhere. It's best to concentrate developers' efforts on things that can't be substituted by third-party software.

Greenshot? Sounds interesting. Been looking for something besides the built-in one on my computer, have to look it up

I don't understand why this was declined. Many applications have them. Especially for bug reporting. You can use what they call "Hot Keys" and it will initate a screenshot while inside the application. This could make the game better. Honestly. Roblox has that and a screen recorder. Bamdi Cam gave me a good ol' trojan virus, good thing I have a Anti Virus program. Because otherwise I would have been up the creek without a paddle. It is MUCH safer to offer such software with your application than forcing users to use a third party software which can carry unwanted results.

Every other one mentioned for recording screens also popped up as having trojans or other viruses. Crazy stuff.

From a developer's point of view its almost the best thing possible. Especially from the busines aspect.

I wish we could just file reports from in game with 1 button, it takes a screenshot of the chat it gets sent off  - easy peasy.

You gotta be careful with what you say is good to download, because there are little kids, (no offense) but when I was that age I downloaded anything and everything lol....

Point is, 3rd party isn't always good.

And natively, Windows at least has a way of capturing the screen. Idk what language they use at the core of the game client. Most likely a C language.

There are plenty of easy ways to get that into a client. I am not sure about Mac osx and linux.
