Let's discuss: why is the information about ban system not released to public?

So there were these topics:

http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=352881

http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=352745

Both closed very quick. I know i made mistake by creating topic addressing a specific player, and I would like to apologize for that. But other questions were left without answer. I hope this time topic is correct (if not tell me precisely why i will make next one, like you will say to do it)

So i was wondering what is the system of punishments, for how long players are banned and for what. That is why i made this topic http://en.tankiforum...45#entry6053323 And there was an answer as i quote: "How exactly the system works isn't released to the public" also "This isn't something you need to worry about" then topic was quickly closed. It is suspicious because few years later in chat viotations admins write exactly for how long player is banned. So my question is why? WHY IS THE INFORMATION HOW EXACTLY BAN SYSTEM WORKS NOT RELEASED TO PUBLIC??? If it is righteous it should not be a problem. WHY ADMINS STOP WRITING FOR HOW LONG PLAYER IS BANNED?

I emphasize: I dont wont to talk about banning system and how it works (because it is not allowed, suspicious, isnt it?) I just would like to know answer for ALL of the questions plus why it is not allowed to talk about bans it in public? So, for sake, dont close it before you answer ALL of them, and maybe let other players to speak their minds before colsing.

If it was publicly released it could be compromised and exploited to avoid bans for something against the rules.

Hmm, i dont really get your point, I think the transparency could only help. Knowing the rules of banning, we could check if admins treat everyone with justice, and for example they do not treat their friends or buyers more softly.

First of all, both of your topics were quickly closed not because we're trying to hide something, but because your topics violated forum rules - one was talking about a specific player, while the other was asking a question (question topics are not allowed and all questions should be asked either in the Q&A topic or on the Help site). So if you have any more questions - please use these two resources. Also, we normally don't allow topics made to challenge decisions of the administration (such as the decision to keep ban details away from the public), as such topics very quickly attract attention of the usual forum trolls and "tanki haters", who start spreading rumours about the administration being corrupt and racist. And we can't allow that.

Second, the reason why ban information is private is because, as said above, releasing all the details about it would allow players to find loopholes in the system and abuse it to their advantage, provoking other players such that they get away with it, but the victim gets banned. There have already been plenty of situations where this kind of thing happens and it would only get worse.

The reason why chat and game violations sections no longer state the length of the ban issued is to discourage players from reporting just for the satisfaction of seeing a long ban getting issued. In fact, the chat administrators are considering to remove that section completely (or only process extreme violations), because at the moment a bunch of players are just using it as their personal ban service, where they report anyone they don't like. Instead, players are encouraged to simply block the players, who annoy them in chat.

Like I said in the previous topic, if you have specific questions about how bans work, you should ask chat administrators via PM.

This topic isn't exactly correct because we don't allow public criticism of actions of the administrations. All those should be sent via PM. And like I said above, topics created to ask a single question are not allowed and therefore we are not obliged to keep them open or even answer them.

Knowing the rules of banning, we could check if admins treat everyone with justice, and for example they do not treat their friends or buyers more softly.

I can tell you right now that developers, mods and admins treat everyone fairly. If you think that a moderator is being unfair, you can complain about it to their respective administrator via PM. If you don't believe me on this matter, then I can't help you with that - you have to either accept this community's leadership as it is (perhaps provide constructive criticism if you have anything you'd like to improve), or find a different community.
