Magnum Turret Released + Giveaway!

Someone from the devs or management played today with the magnum turret on Madness CTF. He nail two tanks together (one was me) and then killed me again in mid range. It seems the ballistic route is shown during the shell flight. When I came close with my freeze, he had to back up. After killing him, he left the battle.

Actually it is hard to snipe with no turret rotation, because when you come out from your cover fully reloaded you have to turn 90 degrees first.

What are you talking about? Why would Magnum ever need to come out of cover? :D

Certain situations. If you are too close to an object, say a house, it forces you to aim at a high angle which restricts your targeting options.  There is also a question of lower-angle shot, which will probably be more reliable in terms of accuracy.  Those low-angle shots will need almost a direct path to the target.

The only threat that magnum might face even behind cover is a shaft, that is if the wall is short enough and magnums tip is sticking out over its short wall.

So be sure to lower your barrel back down if you are behind such cover to prevent being sniped.

That is if it's long ranged combat

Or, ANY turret that is smart enough to sneak up on the Magnum or get at an angle such that the shot path is a clear, direct, line.

Anyway, I know what you are talking about.  Once people memorize certain stats for certain shots, it will become a lot of powerful.  Lets say you go to the cliffs on Rio and snipe into the blue base.  Once you've done it a few times you know the settings so that your shot will always land near the flag.  Or you know how to hit certain positions from your favorite sniping spot. That's why it better be very bad at close range.  It's "hard to use", yes, in improvised situations, but in defined camping wars it is easy OP.

Magnum on Highways probably has an scary advantage over Shafts if it stays way back. It can hit the Shafts even when they are behind cover and it doesn't need to expose itself.  I assume many Shaft players will take Magnum protection since it is a direct counter, just like Firebird always beats Freeze.

Magnum will be popular on maps like Noise. And it'll have a similar role to Striker on Polygon CP because of the splash damage and range.

Like I said before, once people memorize the settings for certain shots, it might be quite overpowered. In WoT at least the artillery is extremely weak to compensate, but here all hulls are separate from turrets.

But since it can only one-shot lights, it's probably balanced.

Yeah, for noise ctf, just be sure to join the blue team with magnum since its more effective than if it's on the red team.

One quick question...if you make 500 kills over a span of 3 days...do you still get the prize of gold boxes or does the kills only count for one day and resets when the server restarts?

And also, can you make 250 kills per day and get 3 golds per day for the duration of the giveaway or if you receive 3 golds..your part in the competition is done?

Please reply back\

Thanks

To pick up drop box...?

I_already_won was talking about the shoot-and-hide technique, or whatever you call it. The one used most often with Railgun. Magnum won't have to drive out from behind a wall to shoot, since he will just shoot over it.

Which is what makes it OP. Magnums will have godlike KDs, i think the damage should be reduced a lot.

They will reduce it, don't worry.

It's already pretty reduced. It can only one-shot a light hull in-game, irl artillery can one-shot any hull.

Reduce it further and it will become like Striker when it first came out.

The two advantages of having Magnum:

1. Eliminates the need for a Shaft nerf.

2. Makes no-supply battles more interesting. Being able to target large groups of camping defenders, this will give attackers some help in taking the flag without supplies.

It can only one shot a light hull. Thats not reduced at all considering it can SHOOT OVER WALLS.

That's like saying 'Shaft is the only turret that ALWAYS hits what it aims at."

It's a biased way of putting it.   That ability comes with a whole host of disadvantages.

So, we need to get the limit of kills in one day for the prize? If we get 100 kills the first day and 150 the second day, it doesn't accumulate right? So we wouldn't get the prize? Also, what rank is magnum m2?

One question.. How did you come up with that name?

Were you having ice cream, while thinking of its name? :)

You know what I mean :)
