My theory about recent changes and why we need to accept them

The non pro games are awful. Ranks range from legend to major - how is it fair on the lower ranked player to face M4 on supplies?

Captain to Legend, actually. Probably this is a result of the new MU system, so a lot of Captains will have M2.5s and such.

I always join battles where I'm one of the highest rank. I never played against M3s. So I don't really care about the new rank brackets as long as I can join a decent battle.

Your hypothesis is deeply flawed. Pro-battles are the only place casual gamers can escape heavy supply use.

Forcing missions into regular battles will not remove "buyers". All gamers want to complete daily missions to keep the chain going. So regular battles will still have lots of 'druggers'. Casual gamers who might have completed missions in Pro-Battles with supplies off now have no choice but to join drug-wars, and they can't compete.  Objective = failed.

I'm not sure how you figure non-buyers will stop complaining about drug abuse. It is rampant in regular battles where missions need to be completed. I've seen it each night since the change.

You know how I complete my missions now? I make sure I have a collect __ box mission. Then I select a battle on large map and start collecting. During this I'm not paying attention to the score. I'm just collecting. So I ask you - how is this an improvement?

I'm not saying things are good now, I'm saying more needs to be done.

The mission update by itself is a problem, but it wouldn't be a problem if they tackle the supply abuse in regular battles with a better supply system, which they were trying to do with the supply experiments. I'm using both the experiments and the mission update for my theory, they needed to do both changes, in my opinion.

Without a better supply system people will continue to be dissatisfied with the mission update. Many people rely on the weekly chains, if those break, no urge to play the next day.

Hazel said the other day directly that those who don't agree with the supply experiments have the option of PRO Battles. That's what makes me believe he wanted, at least at that time, regular battles to be more suited for casual players, non buyers and non druggers. But druggers want it all for themselves and they were loud against the experiments.

They tried with the supply experiments but very few liked tho ones they tried. Some didn't even wanted another experiment. And I think the ones that wanted supplies to stay the same were louder, devs probably assumed the majority was against experiments when in reality some were against the ones they tried. So they jumped to the next stage which is missions change and hoped for the best. Now looking back, I think we should have been in favor of the SCD experiment with longer cooldowns or something similar, although sometimes inconvenient It would have limited supplies usage and abuse, we would have become used to it.

With a fundamental change like the one I described players will not be separated, non buyers and casual will prefer regular battles because of the missions and limited supply usage or weaker supplies (if devs still want to do that or try the other), buyers and pros can still join and do missions if they want, they will just have to accept a new supply system. Non buyers that want to play PRO Battles can still do it, but they will not benefit from it in regards to missions. Both types are affected, buyers more. However we can argue that buyers already have too many advantages from the game, advantages that play against the game balance itself.

And yes, without changes to supplies for regular battles, it doesn't look good.

We all know that the lack of non pro battles wasn't the reason why they put this mission update, it was mainly because it was abusable.

But a lot of legends will have m4s, so the higher ranks will still have the edge.

But I do agree that non pro battles should at least have some settings like: map, game mode, ranks, and supplies.

you know what.... i have a feeling they are just letting us vent our frustrations, but in the end they will not do anything about it...

we can complain and complain.... when the noise dies down....

they will not do anything.

and us, poor sheeps, will just continue to play anyway til we forget this debacle of an update....

then another bad update will come, we complain again and will again fall on deaf ears.

i guess thats life... we get F.. even by our favorite game.

Every year there are fewer players.

Devs will have you believe that's just the cycle of a product.

Maybe somewhat.  But new people join to replace those leaving normally. And recently a lot of people are not coming back because they are changing the game way, way too much, and too quickly.

Make some changes, see how they go - change them back if they dont work. And let things ride for a while.

They have not done that. It is change-after-change-after-change... etc. And many of these changes are very unpopular.

And so people leave and dont come back.

For sure I am playing less because this mission update is horrible. Absolutely garbage.

This update has basically left me in limbo. I will be able to purchase another turret or hull once a sale comes around, but it will never be as strong as my enemies who have full M4.

Take ricochet for example. I'm currently at 8 steps out of 20. The next step is 38,400 crystals but the speed up cost is 76,800... for one step!

Make no mistake, this game is now for buyers.

All the standard m3s will now get rekt by the beast m4s who welcome them into non pro battles and compared to m3s, the m4s with fully maxed protection and seemingly infinite amount of drugs are like godmode_on compared to us xp/bp and m3 players.
