FPS lag on laptop when not charging

 Share

Recommended Posts

For some reason, when I play Tanki with my laptop not charging, the FPS sometimes drops really low and messes up my movements. Though this problem doesn't happen when I have my laptop charging. I know it's not the graphics causing it because I can play with all graphics on just fine as long as the laptop is charging.

Alot of laptops throttle (reduce) their power when not plugged in to increase battery life.

Its different on all laptops so you'll have to poke around the setting until you find something labeled 'High-power' or something similar.

I could help if you tell me the make and model of your laptop.

True^

Having the charger and not having the charger affects the power plan of your laptop. If your battery plan is on Balanced, then change it to High Performance or something like that, and then it should give you maxed out performance. But your battery consumption will be higher and the battery will deplete faster. You can google on a lot of ways on 'How to change the battery plan of your laptop' if you do not wish to tell us the make and model.

Yup, Your laptop will consume more power now which means battery will drain faster but better performance

Actually the reverse happens to me. I'll be perfectly fine but as soon as I plug it in, everything will start lagging.

The moment you plugin, the flow of energy suddenly increases. So for a few seconds the laptop might freeze and accommodate with the new power settings, but it should be OK after a while.
