invalid Tanki billboards as advertisement plates

i saw [invalid] sell advertising instead of ruining the game  but there is another good way you can suck out money of advertisers

well i have to sleep, so if it gets approved ill fully write what i think about it tommorow

there will be 1 billboard on each map, with both sides serperated that are able for rent. longer duration = cheaper renting. players that buy billboard will upload an image to special site, example:

buy.tankionline.com/en/billboard/serpuhov-1

there they will upload image they want, and if it gets approved they will get a code that they will type after buying billboard item in game. for exampoel pricing is

1 day 1$

7 days 6$

20 days 15$

50 days 35$

after end of billboard licence, billboard will be removed by "FOR RENT goo.gl/example"

I don't quite understand the point of this. You said "players that buy billboard". Well, why would a player want to buy a billboard? For self-promotion? I like the idea of being able to promote yourself and display an image on a map. It has quite a few uses, such as advertising your youtube channel, writing a message for a friend (e.g. on birthdays), advertising some event you plan to hold...  Although the problem is that we're so used to billboards that very few players will notice it, let alone take the time to stop and read it instead of focusing on gameplay.

Actually I find the billboards to be extremely drab when there are no events and I do care for aesthetics.

If yes, then the max. duration of an advertisement is maybe too long.. the number if popular maps is limited.. and if you bock a sandbox billboard for 50 days it is a very long time.

 

you could do it like TV does it with advertisements:

The slot time for your advertisement to be shown on the billboard is 1 minute (actually pretty long, TV spots are aprox. 20sec).

There are 10 slots to be sold, so after 10 minutes your add will show up again.

For 1 USD you purchase 1 slot for 1 billboard for a map.

Sandbox would offer 2 billboards, and if you purchase a slot there, then for 24h billboard Nr1 in all sandbox maps will show your advertisements.

 

To accept any pics is maybe not such a good idea (abuse, 18+ stuff, ..) but I think you can find a way to make add's suitable (use preconfigured stuff) or to have it checked by a tanki employee before the broadcast.

When you join a battle, you can use a custom design for a billboard that you bought from the shop (this would be pre-moderated). It would be on all billboards for that battle as long as you stay in it. If you leave the battle, the billboard stays until the end of the round, then it goes away.

 

It would work the same way as a supply; when you want to use one, you press a button. If there is space available (someone has not already taken the billboard slot), then it will activate. If not, it will put you in a queue, but your spot in that queue would go away if you leave the battle.

 

To buy them, you would buy a package from the shop, for example, 5 billboard uses for 1 USD and so on (these could be changed of course).

 

I like @BlackWasp777's way of doing it too. However, the problem is that if you could buy a slot for all battles for a map, they would get bought very quickly and it would be quite difficult to get a slot (let's be real, there is gonna be one tanker that buys all the billboards he/she can for as many days in as many maps as possible).

One major problem that I saw (not with your idea, but in general, yesterday) was, that if you use only the billboard in the battle you are in, then what would happen, if two players that purchased something would join the same battle.

Your "like a supply" idea + the queue solves this. You just need some kind of minimum time, that an add is shows.

 

You would need some info about the queue in advance.. because maybe this special battle is booked up for the next 20minutes, and you don't like to stay that long. Or the queue get's a max. size.. which would be useful anyways

Hoe about advertising on walls? Like a graffiti. They are huge and many players see them (who does not sees the wall? :lol: )

To be honest, this would ruin the game. Too many people will start doing it and trust me, it wont be fun looking at a random channel every time you pass a wall.

Could it be that you expect that the billboards feature a video that is played?

This would truly be a bad idea.. (bandwidth issues -> increases lag).

The problem is that this system would require pre-moderation, since anyone would be able to buy the billboard and put something like scam links or explicit material there.

If the lowest fee for a bill board costs 1USD then the pre-moderation pays for itself.

It's even cheaper if the moderator is an underpaid helper

 

You could also sell predefined content layouts that just promote links to your profile, your top rating values (name, gold boxes caught, current gear as a picture and the kills you made in the last hour), to your clans forum page, to your clans profile or to your duelist page in the forum. Youtube links are nice as well..
