[Declined] Remove Micro upgrades delay time.

Recommended Posts

In the live stream Cedric said that speed ups are luxury and you have to pay more for it even if's 4x increase

well delay time isn't even necessary, how come a micro upgrade with a slight changes on the gun needs time (up to 18 days) and a major upgrade (like from m2 to m3) with a huge change on the gun requires no time to wait ?

in free to play games, you usually "pay with your time, or with money to get advantages or to shortcut the time".

Lets explain it at the step from an M1 to an M2 turret:

A player that has an M1 and plays a lot of time to rankup in order to purchase his M2, does already spend a lot of time to make his rankups possible. But all this time he has only the normal M1, and he has no advantage over other M1s.

A player that has an M1 and spends _additional_ crystals for micro upgrades, has an advantage over the other players - but he has to pay for it. The good news are, that the price for the micro upgrades in M1>M2 is pretty reasonable. Even free players can take this route.

So micro upgrades with reasonable prices are useful for buyers and for free players.

The waiting time is (IMHO) just another way to earn more money from players that have a lots (lots) of money, and are willing to spend them easily on the game. They can purchase the MUs directly and make use of them instantly - but at a very high price in crystals. It's a shortcut in time, that is charged.

If Tanki would remove the waiting time completely, then they would earn nothing with speedups any more.

If they like to have the same income as before, they would have to increase the normal Micro upgrade costs.

And then you would lock the free players out of the micro upgrading, as the costs would be much more then a free player can afford.

Yeah, I get the point now. Developers have made it fair now. Buyers still have to pay for MUs&SUs almost same, while free players usually only pay for MUs and fairly wait. This makes free-players pay less for their MUs.

This was actually explained in our live stream as well. Cedric stated that speed-ups are luxury items, and luxury always costs more money. He gave a great example to explain it as well. So if you have some time, you might wanna watch it :)
