Let's discuss Random Battles (Matchmaking system)

Are you really trying force your opinion all the way and rule the world? Devs hardly remove their updates, so the best you can do is

Sorry if I sound that way, not my intention. I just think this change will very big and not good for many of us. Remember that we invest a lot of time in our accounts just to advance, There are few battles that you end up enjoying.

 

Buyers that have full garage can do well in any battle they are sent to. We non-buyers will have to exit battles that are not good for our equipment.

 

Of course it 's still a little early to predict many things, that's why i opened this topic just to talk about it. Devs don't come to General Discussion anyway.

If you have seen Vlog 131 (jump to 3:10) you'll understand the possible reasoning behind random battles and matchmaking, which is very important for the release of the Mobile version of Tanki, which itself is important for the growth of Tanki or at least to compete with mobile games.

 

Random battles with matchmaking will make the game more simple to attract new players. How will that affect us I think will depend on the matchmaking system.

Not having seen the Vlog yet, I'm on the fence about a mobile version of Tanki. Game performance is erratic on beefy machines. IDK how mobile could be successful.

 

Now, I'd love to be able to access my garage from a mobile device. That would make sales, especially MU events much more manageable. But playing battles??? Lots of technical and practical challenges to overcome.

 

Which brings me back to the bigger question - why? Why go mobile with this game? Why not release a different game more amenable to mobile controls? Think WOTB.

 

I just imagine a 1v1 between a mobile player and one on a traditional computer. Between wi-fi/LTE lags and inefficient controls, mobile user wouldn't stand a chance, right?

You are right. And the thought of devs making mobile players join any of the random battles just highlights your concern.

 

There's also the issue about cellular connection to the Internet, which in many places is not reliable for a constant connection.

Thanks for explaining to me in more details about the matchmaking system. I hope that daily mission like "finish first in a battle", will not be too hard for players to complete.

Oh but they will be harder.

Its tough to finish first in 4 vs 4 sandbox, and with matchmaking, maps will always be full, and chances are, that in 12 vs 12, there will be 2 buyers or heavy druggers in your team who will finish first place.

If the system allows friends to join the same battle you may end up fighting against a whole arab clan. You may end up in a clan war...

On top of that, friends might even play against each other and it will be same as the Pro battles which is one of the reasons why missions were changed.

Sounds like Matchmaking has an uphill battle ahead of it in order to be successful. Yes missions are a problem, but getting dumped somewhere you don't want to be is a bigger one. I already have trouble finding standard battles on interesting maps. I sometimes end up playing Brest and Lost Temple where I'm just Shaft fodder. Not fun.

Ignore these mults, please introduce Matchmaking System in Legends as soon as possible.Its tough for new Legends to kill old Legends having all M4 combinations.

Devs are working on Matchmaking system as hard as they can. It's one of their top priorities right now alongside the HTML version of the game.

They say they are working on it & might release before Tanki Birthday Sale on June.

So let's presume random people are in a random map together. Will we then have the possibility to Vote to choose a map? If the majority of the players vote for a proposed one, then the round will be finished and the map that was voted will come next.

Not a bad solution or idea itself but I highly doubt they will implement something like this but still we just have to hope the best. Cedric said that missions are one of their top priorities so let's expect something good, at least something better than the current system we have.

There should be random battles that still gives us map options, for example:

 

- You sign in and you see a list of maps that have battles ready for you to join.

- You'll only see the name of the map and the number of battles it contains.

- When you click that map you'll be sent to one of those battles.

- If there are few battles of a certain map, that map will not show up on the list.

- And of course there should still be the mode filters and the Battle button.

It is a great idea but hard to implement and I don't think it is gonna happen that soon. You see, the way the system works is that the server only creates a new battle when no other battles are available. So when you click the "Battle!" button and no suitable battles are there yet, you will be sent to a new battle. This is done to make sure that there are never too many battles on the server, because otherwise there will be a ton of battles with very few players and games will be boring because barely anyone will join but your idea is sound, better for the map to not appear, interesting part in there and sometimes when it comes to there not being enough battles for you to do your mission, you need to create that specific format using the Battle! button. Watch

of the v-log to see how to select which battle format you want to join.

I was saying when the Matchmaking is introduced. But now in the Livestream Hazel said that there could be an option to go play team battles or DM, and if you select Team Battles then you may or may not have options to select CTF, TDM and CP.

 

The things we still don't know about, and something we should be asking, is about missions and what will happen after battle ends, will we be able to continue or we will have to do it all over again.

I don't know about the missions but all I heard was that the mach making system would make missions a lot easier, I mean a lot in the Live-Stream so I guess we can expect something good.  :)

I think some missions will be harder, like the Finish 1st mission. In a 10v10 battle only two can be 1st, the remaining 18 will have to try again, and again, and they won't be able to go to EN7 or RU18 anymore. I just hope they at least make sure that there will always be at least one easy mission in our daily missions.

I do agree with you but as far as I remember, I remember Hazel saying that in the upcoming mach making system, you and your friends will be able to go into one map, together, do missions together and something like that so I really hope they will surprise us and blow out mind with that update as missions are really important so if they find a good solution to it, I'm sure we all will be happy even if some of the missions will be hard to finish.

I really don't believe Hazel-Rah cares what we think.  This will be implemented no matter what.  When Tanki is decimated, Hazel-Rah will blame it on Flash and take none of the blame.  

 

Tanki is in a bad downward spiral due to the persistent degrading of the game through foolish changes and negative updates.  It is almost like they are trying to destroy the game.  

 

My guess is that Hazel-Rah has pitched the money people that Tanki needs to go mobile or it will die and in the process of converting, he will kill Tanki Online.  Greed vs Quality.

If Matchmaking doesn't work well, there will still be 'custom battles' with battle lists and create button, and it may even all be free.

Custom battles will be great to have while Matchmaking develops into a better system even if it is not at the beginning, or ever. I like you positive attitude. :)

 

I think this will be a huge backfire if Tanki doesn't do anything about the drop in number of players...

I think the reason for that is missions only in standard battles. They need to give us easy to accomplish missions. I say more EXP missions will be better than Crystal missions and Finish 1st missions. And the rank bracket is awful.

He said that all that stuff will be "added eventually to the Matchmaking System".

 

So in the first version of Matchmaking they will roll out, you will most probably not be able to play with friends, not choose map etc.

Oh come on Tanki, it's not like 9-year olds are going to play this game, it doesn't need to be this "simple". Leave us the list, move those buttons somewhere else for a quick access though.

Watching this photo from test server of The_Pakistani, no more battle lists for standard battle. Only for PRO or how it will be called in the future custom battle, will remain battle list. For mobile version of Tanki sure is better, but for PC version we will see, by that how many players will stay when it matchmaking system comes, especially that some missions will be much harder to finish in matchmaking system, then now in standard battle lists, where you see in what battle you are entering.
