Add "outside view" window for Shaft in scope mode

Recommended Posts

I have an Idea for the Shaft,

We all know how dominating, annoying, useful, and nooby the shaft can be. Why not have a medium size screen been installed for the Shaft, showing the outside of whats going on around the tank while in scope mode? If any enemies approach, you'll know they are there and can save yourself before they arrive.

Or Scope Mode can act as a radar as well, showing every player (and their range) in relation to where you are pointing your turret. Green can be your team, red can be the enemy. Radar can only be activated during Scope Mode so it isn't OP.

But what about those who try and sneak up behind you? Its better with the outside vision because its not OP, You have no choice but to run and ur still gonna be confronted with that player if he manages to sneak behind you.

He can't. A red dot will show moving "up" from the bottom of the scope screen.

For clan battle this would be way unfair, it would ruin any sneak attackers. One man can just go into the corner of a map behind a building then go into scope mode and then tell his teammates where everyone is. If they did not hide behind a building, the laser will be seen by enemy tankers and the shaft will be taken out. In other words, it would somewhat break the game...

Sorry, a NO to this idea. Shaft is pretty much balanced and this would make it OP. In every game the way to kill snipers is either to sneak up on them or counter-snipe. You can't sneak up on somebody with all-round radar vision. Maybe as an alteration that would nerf some other aspect but for some reason developers don't want to bring out more interesting alterations.

Radar would only be active in Scope Mode. If the Shaft sees someone coming from behind and decides to "tap-out" of Scope Mode, he will be re-charging for the next 6 seconds or so - 6 seconds of vulnerability and without the radar.

Why not? It'll be useful, especially when tankers sneak up behind you. You can fight or flight.

In real life snipers dont see anything around so they have dude with assault riffle sitting next to them if someone sneaks up.

You mean like a Firebird/Wasp bodyguard?

I really don't see what difference it would make. It would be the same as if it was on its normal vision. It would be slower, because If the shaft is trying to make a kill, it would have to throw its shot away to run, because it's not very good in close combat so it'll still lose.

But instead of showing dots during scope mode, rather have a small screen as it showing your regular tank and surroundings

Keep it simple for now to see if it is actually doable.

We dont need to add helpful features to turrets, this makes them more powerful than others. If you want a radar on your shaft you need to sacrifice a lot of your damage.

Shaft would still be vulnerable whether in Scope Mode or not. The only difference is that Shaft won't be oblivious to its surroundings.

So someone is sneaking behind me and closing in fast.

I would still have to get out of Scope Mode in order to move to escape.

And in order for me to do that, I have to do one of three things:

A.) Find a target quickly to not waste my shot

B.) Just waste the shot

C.) Hit <ENTER> twice to reload

Whatever was chose of the three, it would require Shaft to reload for 6 or so seconds - 6 seconds of non-firing vulnerability.

The only difference is I would be made aware sooner of who is approaching.

I would gladly sacrifice some damage in exchange for no beam.

So just exactly how would it increase Shaft's damage output?

So the only thing that makes shaft stronger is a damage increase? Why dont we add that radar, hell, lets let it see the outline of every tank. Lets also make it shoot through walls and reload immediately.

So how is Shaft buffed by this? OK, show me. You are Shaft and you are in Scope Mode. You are looking for a target and have a few to chose from in front of you but you have your beam hidden, and then you see someone approaching fast on your position from your six. So tell me, what do you do?
