Add "outside view" window for Shaft in scope mode

Recommended Posts

Shafts are annoying as it is, but adding like a mini view on the bottom right corner, like in a box which shows you a normal view of your surroundings will make it a bit more effective and easy-to-use

amen, thank you

this idea alone will give shaft an unbalance advantage, no point of explaining cause you're in denial

is it? because others seem to agree with me as you witnessed. adding this outside will make shaft more easier to use. how do you not get that? it's not fair using it if you can hardly know if you're being attacked. this won't make it any more powerful.

like I said, it will make it easier to be aware of your surroundings, that's all it's gonna do. people are acting like it's gonna make it the games best turret. with any other turret, you're able to be aware, except for shaft

For those cases when you're being attacked the screen should turn red, that should be a better solution.

Thank me.

Okay, if that's the argument, let's also add a scope mode with a high damage output and unlimited range to all other turrets as well.

It's not that this would make Shaft the best turret in game, it's that it would make it more difficult to kill a turret that is already difficult to kill. Shaft can one-shoot any medium and light hull at any distance with an accuracy that other turrets do not have. Not being aware of your surroundings is the trade-off for scope mode. To me, that seems reasonable enough.

it won't make it difficult to kill the shaft of granted this idea. you know how your tank view looks when you're in battle mode, it'll look the same way when in scope mode, and tanks that don't have shaft have to keep on the move, and I suggest this because you can at least see who's coming, and you have no choice but to run, especially if you're on one tank and another one approaches you from behind.

good suggestion. but it would be better to see who your attacker is.

Then you either end scope mode and see who it is, a real enemy or a friendly enemy mult, or finish your target and die for the good of the team.

Also a second screen just for Shafts could be difficult to implement and resource consuming, and then everyone will be asking for a screen... an Isida healer will likely want a rearview mirror to see behind him/her while he/she is healing a Mammoth; Magnums will want a drone camera view screen...

I think you're missing the point. the outside view is to allow the shaft to escape in time, not to see just see who your attacker is and get destroyed. also that who would ask for a back view vision of turrets people would have a clear and large view all around them. hello!!! we're trying to give the shaft a good view like the other turrets.

I'm sorry, mate, I really don't understand how making it easier for the Shaft user to escape in time doesn't also make it harder for her to be destroyed.

it makes sense because when your on scope mode, you can only see what's in front of you. granted the outside view, you can see if an approaching player is sneaking up on you, you won't be able to see them from afar, but at least you can see them get close enough to defend yourself.

I have an Idea for the Shaft,

We all know how dominating, annoying, useful, and nooby the shaft can be. Why not have a medium size screen been installed for the Shaft, showing the outside of whats going on around the tank while in scope mode? If any enemies approach, you'll know they are there and can save yourself before they arrive.

this makes shaft more dominating... i fail to see how this is a solution to the "problem" you mentioned

I play Shaft an unhealthy amount and I don't need a "rear view mirror" as it were. Why? Because after every shot I fire (And I fire A LOT) I always wiggle a little and check around me to make sure I'm not being flanked. I also always camp near a map border or somewhere where the tank attacking me cannot get behind me without either A; attacking most of my team or B; bumping me and notifying me of their presence.

It's all a practice of meticulous self awareness.

Its not to give Shaft a rear view, but rather to give it an outside regular view as any other tank would have. It won't have a special type of viewing or anything, but just so it can have better skills of its surroundings. This will not make it more dominating or anything, you just have to HAVE skills in order to use it right. Usually a player using shaft gets flanked without warning, so given that outside view would make him more aware of his surroundings, just as a regular Sniper.

                 Here's a spolier

                 https://twitter.com/danzakuduro783/status/923171941342687232

personally, i recommend a heat sensor in sniper mode (it shows which direction the enemy is coming from) heat sensor can reach up to (lets say an approximate) an isida m4 range x 1.25, then whichever team you're on for e.g. blue = good, red = bad (basically works effectively on short range weapons) and to add on to that, a heat sensor of where they shot from, (it activates 100% of heat sensor if shot by railgun, then 2-3 shots but really depending on the damage given from the smoky then activates 100% of the heat sensor etc.,  heat sensor doesn't turn off unless you step out of sniper and this only works when being shot, the range heat sensor just comes in when someone comes near you)

hope this satisfies your persistance

I don't agree shaft can deal a lot of damage in one shot on scope mode and if this is added shafts will be with no weaknesses left and hard to kill those shafts

Of course there will be weaknesses to it. Lets say this was granted, if you're in Scope mode, and someone's coming towards you, you'll only see them appear on the side of you or behind you and it'll be too late, also remember that in Scope mode, the shaft has a slow turning speed.

Why not? It'll be useful, especially when tankers sneak up behind you. You can fight or flight.

If this was added, shaft would become easily one of the most powerful turrets, and everyone would go back to having it.  In the old Tanki, shaft reloaded about 2x as fast as it does today, which is why everyone used it as soon as it came out - it dealt tons of damage and reloaded fast.  I don't think this should be added because the fact that shafters can't see around them is basically the weapon's only downfall.

Thats not Shafts only downfall. Remember its slow turning and every time a player approaches the shaft, they go towards the side so the shaft won't reach their speed. And the shaft has no choice but to run away or fight out of scope mode because they player will just continue to circle around them, damaging them more, if they continue in scope mode. Also players will always slide their shaft side to side to see any approaching players. With this view added, if a player were to approach from behind real closely, the shaft cannot fight, it must run away.
